Ugh… You almost had it, then you fell apart.
There’s a reason nepotism is bad. It fosters the employment of incompetents because you’re doing someone a «favor».
You only have Ranch sauce. Of all the sauces you’re supposed to have, you only have the one.
«May I have a BBQ sauce?»
«We don’t have BBQ.»
«Okay, can I have Honey Mustard?»
«We don’t have Honey Mustard.»
«Do you have Blue Cheese?!?»
«No, we don’t have Blue Cheese.»
FOR CHRISTSAKES JUST TELL THE POOR WOMAN YOU ONLY HAVE RANCH!!! Then you go and do it to the next two customers that come in! What the hell is wrong with you???
You’re lucky that a cheeseburger and a small fry is 2 bucks. Lucky.

Aight this is how it went down BOOM me and my boi are just skateboarding around town and I need a quick snack and I’m just like yo check out these fuckin checkers that shit makes me really wanna eat here and I look inside and I’m like shit fast food tho it looks mad cheap so I’m like fuck it I’m doing it now I’m in here and waiting for someone to take my order and I make eye contact with this employee behind the counter and he’s just standing there takes him about 3 minutes for him to walk his ass to the register so I get a chicken sandwich I emphasize the fact I want no mayo on it like I repeated myself 3 times and then I wanted a small fruit punch hi c u kno he says we all out I got cherry coke instead when I got my sandwich I look within what fuck do I find MAYO! How could they do this to me and by the way this establishment is filthy. I must say their fries are bomb.

The service may not be the best, but the burgers are better than most fast food places in the same price range. The fries are to die for!

This location is almost always busy during the daytime hours. A lot of construction workers, police cadets and regular passers-​by. They have a great selection of options on the menu. Even a few good shakes and desserts.
I usually get 2 burgers. They have specials like 2 for $ 5 or 2 for $ 6 depending on your selection. I think their burgers are better than other fast food chains.
Don’t come here looking to run in and out, there’s pretty much alway a line. And you’ll be standing since seating is pretty limited even with their bar style seating around the walls

Hamburguesas baratas pero muy ricas!!! Muy potentes! Hay una que viene con bacon y cebolla rebozada que es increíble! Lo que sí prepárate para comerla porque es una bomba! Una buena opción para no comer en McDonalds o Burguer King!

This place is horrible! How can this be a restaurant and not have a restroom? I am pregnant and no matter what I said or begged they did not allow me to use their restroom. Way to go guys!

Avoid this particular Checkers location
This review isn’t a review of the food just a review of the service at the Queens Plaza Checkers.
When I walk there’s a huge puddle of cola on the floor. There are many employees just standing around doing nothing.
Fast food should be quick but when I ordered a cheeseburger (1 single cheeseburger) at this location, they took over 20 minutes to prepare the order (this would have been somewhat understandable if the store was really busy).
I wanted to cancel my order but I paid by card this time so I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of getting a refund (considering how long it was taking them to make 1 cheeseburger). I also didn’t want to walk out and eat the loss as I had already paid.
They finally give me my order and I’m looking to get the hell out of this place as fast as possible. As I’m leaving I noticed they got my order wrong. Instead of giving me 1 cheeseburger like I ordered, they gave me an order of fries. The giant soda spill was still there when I left.
To sum it up:
Service is slow, lazy and incompetent. They mess up simple 1 item orders and take 30 minutes to do so.
They have so many employees just standing around doing nothing. Nobody to complete my order, nobody to clean the giant soda spill.

I went there twice and every time I wanted to enjoy the food. The service was really slow, some of the fries were old and saggy and the Big Buford was cold. The cold meat patty was pretty disgusting. They are fully capable of making their burgers warm and french fries fresh but they don’t seem to care as much.

They always have BOGO deals so it’s best to come with a friend. This is the spot for those guilty pleasures. You know it’s definitely not healthy but it’s so good. It’s definitely one of the better gas food places. I always get the Big Buford and the meat comes out surprisingly juicy. Have to admit that it’s sometimes a hit or miss. Sometimes the meat is dry and sometimes the vegetables aren’t as crisp. Shame but then again it’s a fast food joint. The combos are very flexible (ie: you can sub a soda for a shake for just a little extra). I would give this place a 3.5 if I could.

The big Buford is not as big as a double quarter pounder or a double whopper despite what the cashier will claim. Also, I’m not so sure about the service because every single person who picked up food in the half hour that I was here had to remind the cashiers to give them the soda that they ordered. It was pretty funny after a while but it’s also pretty sad.

I came here because I was really craving a burger. The audience should have given it away when a lady sent her 8yr old daughter to the cashier to get a refund for only getting 11 instead of 12 chicken wings. I ended up getting my order after the argument with the other customer was settled but the burger was gross. of course you can’t expect a lot from these $ 1 – 2 burgers but it made me feel really bad for eating this cr** and I won’t go again.

I don’t have any complain on the food. The original price are reasonable, and the groupon deal is definitely great value. The food and price worth at least 3.5 stars.
My complain is that they didn’t allow us to use staff bathroom, even if we explained that it is for the kid only. Maybe only parents can understand what is the «emergency» when a kid says he/​she needs to use the bathroom. We have to run to their neighbor subway, as a kind customer suggested. The «customer only» bathroom of the subway is the worst bathroom you can imagine.
You will not be able to wash your hands in Checkers either.
These made us lose all our interest in the food.
Another problem is they don’t have the equipment to scan your coupon from your mobile, you either need to print it out, or get online on site for them to press the «redeemed» button.
BTW, You will never be able to find a street parking place nearby. But it is close to subway station.

Located by the base of the 59^th Street Bridge. Better than the typical fast food restaurants. Tasty burgers and fries on the cheap. Short lines. Friendly, helpful staff.

I wanted to come here because I saw their CEO on the Undercover Boss and was impressed by his philosophy and goals to bring Checkers to the next level. I was disappointed when I came to this location.
They were so slow. This is supposed to be a fast food chain! I only ordered a shake, which should take no time to prepare. There were 2 customers before me and they took their time to order. Yet, the kitchen staff should be efficient! I saw a few sit in the back and one manning the register while she worked in the kitchen. Then, there was only 1 girl working at the kitchen full time.
The shake arrived like 5 minutes later and was actually very good and cheap. $ 3 for a giant shake. But the wait was really discouraging.

A good addition to the neighborhood as an occasional alternative to the other big fast food joints.
The sandwiches are just OK. I got the Big Buford which is essentially their version of the Big Mac. Bland, but not bad either and filling. The next time I got the spicy chicken which was also somewhat bland but not bad and had some OK spicy chicken taste.
The best parts are the fries (skin on, seasoned) and the ice cream cone. Surprisingly good and refreshing soft serve ice cream and milk shakes. They have banana shakes too!
Overall, Checkers is a good value fast food restaurant. They run many two sandwiches for $ 3-​$ 5 deals, Groupon deals, and combo values.

This was my first time eating at Checkers.
The hot wings were great… The chicken was crispy and the hot sauce had just enough heat.
I also ordered the shrimp and fries basket. The shrimps I can definitely do with out, they were nasty frozen shrimp. The fries were good.
I had a little problem understanding the person taking my order because he didn’t speak English well and when he talked he had a heavy accent. It took a little time but we finally got the order together.
I’ll definitely give this place another try, I’ll just be sure to ordered something different.

Apparently their fries are pretty famous, so I decided to stop in one day and try them. The condition of this location almost made me turn around and leave. It was dirty, and in desperate need of a renovation. I have no idea how they passed the health inspections. I know fast food places aren’t the classiest, but this is probably the most unpleasant fast food place I’ve been to in NY. The employees are incredibly unfriendly, and act annoyed that you even dared come in and order food.
For some reason I stayed, and ordered some fries. They were ready before I even sat down. Normally, I’d be super excited about this, but as I opened my fries, they looked like they’d been sitting out for hours. They were drenched in some questionable looking cheese sauce, which made them extremely soggy.
I’m sure there are better locations out there with friendly employees, that maybe put a little more effort into their food, with a cleaner environment. Avoid this one. It’s not worth it in the least.

SO. I am on a diet aka it’s January again.
However, I was hanging out with 3 boys and they all thought Checkers for dinner was a great idea. I went next door to Subway for my $ 5 JanuANY footlong, but I couldn’t resist stealing a couple of bites from the BF.
He had the roadhouse sandwich and I have to say it’s pretty damn tasty! The burger was juicy and I like the sauce (prob thousand island…). My other friend had the Philly Cheese burger and he said the steak was dry… so dry that he actually took it out of his burger. A boy removing meat!!! It must have been REALLY dry.
I LOVED the seasoned fries… but sadly only allowed myself to have 3!
The location is kinda sketchy and you have to cross like 50 streets to get to it from the other side… but I might stop by again once January ends and I’m in the mood for a burger.

Oh wow wow wow. This place is really. really bad.
The staff are painfully slow. No exaggeration — there were 4 orders in front of me that took 20 minutes AND every single order (I kid you not) — every single order was incorrect. Some were missing an item or two or had the wrong order entirely. and then they messed up my order too.
The food was just ok but having had the ‘opportunity’ to see them prepare the food for a considerable amount of time, I learned that hygiene and communication are two traits that just dont exist in this particular location. I wouldn’t even stop here for a cup of soda.
Good luck guys — your days in business are limited.

While checkers food is pretty unhealthy, it’s still really damn good! But this is by the far the absolute worst Checkers that I have ever been to. While the cashiers are generally nice, the remaining employees barely speak or read English, so they are often confused and are prepare the meals wrong. At times you will have to wait between 10 – 15 minutes to receive your order because they don;t know what they’re doing back there.

10÷3÷2013 Update
I had to come back can drop my review down to two stars. The employees are clueless as to how they’re making their orders, take forever to make a simple order, as well as seeing someone praying on the floor in the kitchen area.

This fast food chain is not as well known here but multiple locations have opened throughout NYC. I decided to give them a try and see how they compare to the competition.
Their menu has a very good selection. Besides the usual burgers, chicken sandwiches, and french fries, they also sell hot dogs, fried chicken, and milkshakes. Two of their more unique offerings in relation to other chains are the chili cheese fries (with bacon and ranch dressing) and the banana milkshakes.
Their signature sandwich, the Big Buford, is a double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. It was similar in taste to a Wendy’s burger, except bigger and with a thicker bun. And like Wendy’s, the slice of cheese on it was not melted. It was pretty good.
I also had the chili cheese fries. The french fries themselves are good. They reminded me of the cajun fries that Popeye’s sells except not spicy and slightly smaller in size. They have a similar texture, seasoning and the crisp starchiness. However, the chili and the cheese was overkill, because it made everything way too salty.
I would be interested in sampling a couple more things in the future.
