If you need some quick cash for your day at Seven Presidents Beach, or a more varied menu than what the snack bar has to offer, you can certainly do worse than Windmill. Walked over there with three little kids for large charred dogs, burgers, and fries which easily met expectations but Windmill earned an extra star for excellent service. For example they said if my daughter thought her hot dog was too charred they’d swap it out, and all the kids got balloons, a sweet gesture.

I would rather have a burger from McDonald’s. I have no idea why this place got four stars. I found the food to be extremely mediocre, if not downright poor. Place is fast food style, order at the counter and pick up once it’s ready. It actually took pretty long so maybe it was made fresh. For the sake of being thorough, I tried a burger, cheese fries, and a chili cheese dog. That picture speaks for itself. It was not a good burger, and pricey and near $ 5 for a burger with nothing on it. Burger was dried out and was pretty flavorless. The cheese fries were OK. Standard fries covered with pumped hot cheez whiz. The hot dog cost more than $ 5 so I was expecting it to be better than the burger. It was, but that’s not saying much. It’s a really big hot dog, not overly salty with good crunch to it. The chili and cheez whiz were nothing special. Probably not coming back here.

I haven’t even eaten here and I will never go back. I went with a few friends of mine. We all placed our orders and they got theirs. Then one friend ordered more food and he got his second order before my first order came up. After about 10 more minutes of waiting, I walked off and went to seven eleven. After I left the food came up and he told me they couldn’t believe I left.

I am going to keep this short and sweet. Food(cheese fries, hot dogs, burgers) are great… Some of the staff needs to stop scratching themselves in front of customers and in general… I don’t want there eczema flakes on my cheese fries.

I’m not a huge hot dog fan, but Windmill was fantastic! The hot dogs were GIANT, tasted great, and pretty inexpensive. My friend and I each got a hot dog loaded with toppings and a huge container of delicious fries, all for an extremely decent price. It’s definitely a great landmark location and I would go back, if I was in the area again.

People actually eat this? Living perhaps off their hay day, better to go to maxs across the street. The food quality in general here is lacking and besides the long branch flagship location, I don’t understand the compelling demand for this place.

We used to have one in Westfield but is now replaced by a Korean café/deli/burger joint. Anyways, Windmill is your quintessential Jersey Shore hotdog joint. I think they use Sabrett hotdogs which has a thicker skin creating for a better crunch when grilled. I just wish they use better buns to hold well for extra trappings like chili or cheese and other, because the sandwich can fall apart. Otherwise the hotdogs are good enough by themselves. With extra toppings, they become great. I’d order them with onion fries — they’re thick and super crunchy. This particular place is so cute but small so people tend to eat in their car like we did today as it fills up quickly during peak hours. It’s the best place to get fast food when going down Long Branch Beach.

Always on point. Great hot dogs and fries and my buddy says the burgers are great. Whenever we are riding through the area we have to stop at Wind Mill. It doesn’t matter which location you go to cause they’re both consistently good. The larger spot gets the edge because it’s larger with lots of tables and larger staff.

I’ve been going to Windmill since I’m a kid. It holds a special place in my memories. I believe without a doubt that it will become part of my future. This place is the essence of food at the jersey shore. Burgers, dogs, and beers. From the moment you walk in you can smell the deep fryer and you instantly crave fries. Everything they serve is delicious and never ever too greasy. Windmill is a perfect joint for its beachy summer time reputation. Enjoy!

I don’t know, I ate there twice. This location and also freehold. I think the hotdogs are low grade. Nice staff at both places, fries are good, prices are high.

We visited this location on the 11th Annual New Jersey Hot Dog Tour last week. A big, beautiful, spotless restaurant that was able to easily accommodate 85 people. My buddy and I have been running this Tour for 11 years and the service here was unmatched. Our group was welcomed by the owners, seated, and served in about 10 minutes. They took the time to mingle with attendees and made it a great experience. The employees were cheerful and competent. You can tell the owners really care about their business and customers. When I went by myself the service and food was great also. The hot dogs here are excellent. They serve a 4 to a pound natural casing beef and pork frank that is perfectly prepared on a griddle. Great flavor and texture. I like my dogs a little well done. You are allowed to pick out one if you wish. Beer is served here also. This place has everything a hot dog lover like me could ask for. Big delicious hot dogs prepared perfectly, a nice restaurant and atmosphere, beer, cheerful efficient service, and owners who care and take pride in their business and product. I almost forgot to mention that they serve an excellent homemade chili. There is a toppings bar that is self service. I like this concept. Good fresh basic toppings that complement and enhance your hot dog. None of the trendy ridiculous toppings that many newer(«haute» dog) places push which only serves to disguise the taste of the frank. No «haute» dogs here. Just good honest hot dogs done right. The Windmill delivers on everything I look for in a hot dog establishment. Truly deserving of 5 stars. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s a good distance from where I live. But definitely worth the long drive.

I visited Windmill as part of the11th Annual NJ Hot dog tour. The Hot dogs are long natural casing hot dogs, had a wonderful char on them. Their condiment bar has green relish, sweet relish, and hot relish along with good mustard. The place is spotlessly clean and the people at the customer service counter were absolutely fantastic.

This is a 4-star review for what this place does well: greasy, fried, hot fast food. It’s not fine dining, but they delivered on what we wanted after a day at the beach: chili hot dogs and crispy crinkle-cut fries. The dogs were grilled just to the point of a slight char and starting to split, and the chili cheese was generous so we had to eat with a fork and knife… Plenty to dip your fries into. Dogs and fries were hot off the grill/fryer. The only suggestion was that the bun could have been toasted a bit longer and was too short for the dog. We felt a bit gross afterwards, but it’s to be expected. Enjoyed this place and will be back!!!

I never thought I’d write a review about a hot dog, but that was one damn good hot dog! Really nice people, decent prices given the proximity to Seven Presidents Beach, comfortable and clean place to sit and have a bite. Grilled chicken sandwich was also terrific, with fresh lettuce and tomatoes on a good roll. The cheese fries were the only bummer — melted american cheese just tasted wrong.

This place gets a three for being a landmark, alone. You know you’re on the Jersey Shore when when you’re eating dogs at Windmill. These aren’t Herbrew National, by any means. On the other hand, they’re much better than what you’d get at a sporting event. And, the condiments are fresh and taste great. I had trouble taking the chili dog down by hand. A fork was necessary. For the guy that’s been drinking all night, Windmill stays open late to soak it up. I’m guessing that’s the crowd that values this place most.

HOTDOG Review: Well they’re all beef hot dogs of the giant Texas Weiner persuasion. They have all the typical hotdog fare. Close to standing room only with about eight stools available the place is so small you have to go outside to change your mind, but there is a spot to get away from the Sun or weather & bathroom just off the boardwalk. Open 12 months. For just over $ 5 you can get a massive hot dog and add whatever you like. There’s a selection of burgers, but I come here for the dogs. Minimal selection of sauces and toppings, but all the basic stuff is here and great for a quick affordable bite on the go.

I’m from Long Branch and ate here as a kid many many years ago. Sure, its interesting and fun to go to a windmill but honestly, those hot dogs are very expensive for a hot dog and far from the best dog you can get down the shore.
