I recently had lunch at Agave Grill with my sister. We had originally planned to eat at Casa Comida, but they were not open yet. Since we were in the mood for Mexican, we decided to give Agave a try. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were greeted by no one. There wasn’t a single person in the restaurant, and I would have thought the place was closed if I didn’t see the«Open» sign on the window. I eventually had to peek my head around the corner before the cook in the kitchen finally noticed me. After an acknowledgement via head nod, the cook took off his apron and became our host/waiter. Apparently, he was the only one working. We were seated in a corner table and the first thing I noticed was that the glasses on the table were spotted and had a film of dust on them. Not a good sign. My sister ordered a grilled chicken burrito while I ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla and a grilled chicken burrito combo. As we waited for our food, we were given chips and salsa. The salsa, while flavorful, was way too watery and heavy on the cilantro. When we finally got our lunch, I noticed immediately that the chicken quesadilla wasn’t freshly made. It had simply been reheated, which made the chicken tough to chew. When I cut into my chicken burrito, I noticed that the chicken was not grilled, but rather seared. It was also bland since the cheese and sauce were strangely on the outside of the burrito. My sister was not impressed with her food either, stating that it had«a different taste.» The final insult was when we received our bill. I noticed that we had been charged the dinner prices instead of the lunch prices. This added $ 5 to my sister’s dish and $ 6 to my dish. A lunch that should have cost about $ 20 ended up costing $ 33 before tip. Needless to say I won’t be going back to Agave again. My advice is to simply drive 0.1 miles down the road to Casa Comida. Their food and service are simply better. Just make sure you go when they’re open.

Yummy salsa. I had the chorizo enchiladas. Muy delicioso. Cute little place too, in a house. Bring your own booze.
