My favorite spot on 2nd street. The menu has a huge variety of well thought out sandwiches, salads, pizzas and entrees. Clean atmosphere and outside seating makes it the perfect place for lunch or casual dinner :)

The food was mediocre at best. I didn’t really care for the way things were run. I felt like the management had something to hide and was fake when I interacted with her. I did however have a great experience with the server, keith. He was kind and did a great job serving us. It was fast and always made sure we had the best experience.

The food here was absolutely fantastic. My boyfriend and I shared the pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun and the veggie curry(2 separate dishes) and the food was a 10. Great flavor and not too heavy. Great price for a gourmet tasting meal!

We live very close by so we’re especially glad this place is here. They offer a lot of delicious and healthy items for us vegetarians(meat eaters love it too). I often get the vegan tofu scramble for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This dish is unique and full of flavor, with just the right amount of sauteed kale and great vegan cheese. Hash-browns with dinner? Yes! I“m also addicted to the vegetable curry served over rice and veggies like squash and sweet potato. It’s like a California version of an English pub curry, and it’s awesome. Thin and crispy sweet potato on top adds texture and goodness. The owner is nice, but I haven’t talked with her much because she is usually working very hard behind the counter or even running plates to tables with a smile. It’s obvious that she is passionate about what she is doing as she takes a hands-on approach to running the place. She also knows how to pick her staff. All of the three servers we’ve had were genuinely friendly and energetic. They really seem to enjoy working there, which makes for a happy experience.(This is in sharp contrast to some other places on 2nd street) The room is bright, clean and spacious. They also have an outside patio with three or four tables. Even in Winter, we’ve been comfortable under their heaters. Finally, we have yet to find the bottom of their delicious mimosas.

This place has a much larger menu than what I expected. I went with several people so we ended up ordering a few items: hamburger, shrimp pizza, chicken skewers and a few other things. The best items were the chicken, which was cooked perfectly and very juicy, and the pizza, which was packed with fresh toppings. The atmosphere is friendly and tables aren’t so close to each other that you feel rushed to eat your meal. There is so many items to try here, it is doubtful that I would get tired of visiting.

The food is always good as of everytime i stop by but last time i went they played some beautiful music that I simply fell in love with. Kind of a bummer that no one working there knew the name of the song, singer or radio station that was being played. Oh well… Excellent food and service though.

Ordered their apple caramel pancakes… I was expecting pancakes NOT toast! I decided to let it slide since I was very hungry, and gorged myself into the platter. The food is literally drenched with caramel sauce making it very sweet. I’m surprised I managed to finish it… although I have to say it should be moved to the dessert area instead of breakfast. Next time, I’ll try the omelettes with avocado, and hashbrowns that two of my friends were eating at the same time, they looked very mouth watering. Although I’d have to say the interior is a little weird, you have the dining area inside and outside but front of the kitchen, little marketplace and café. It almost gives off a Italy feeling and reminded me of a mini Anaheim Packing District.

I had the steak with scalloped potatoes. Sad to say the scallop potatoes were cold in the middle! Sent it back to get warmed up. I asked the Waitress if it was cooked fresh and she said yes, but it tasted like it was refrigerated. The steak was just alright. Plate came with Brussel sprouts, which were just ok too. Overal, they just get an OK from me.

I came in for breakfast on a weekday morning. It was pretty empty but a nice little spot. The employees greeted me with friendly smiles and I decided to sit outside. Cute area to people watch and enjoy a meal. However, beware of the persistent flys who try to land on your food. Also the large bench was not comfortable at all, all it really needs are some pillows or cushions and that would make a great difference. My server(if I remember correctly her name was Alyssa) was friendly, professional, and checked on me just enough times. She had great recommendations and was a good listener. I had a well done sirloin steak and eggs with a side of wheat toast. It was DELICIOUS! The steak was made perfectly and the onions and jalapeños added a nice flavor. It was my first time here and I can’t wait to come back to try more items.

This Market Café deserves at least 4 stars, hands down. Their menu is fresh & local with vegan choices. Understated & tasty. Perfect for a weekday breakfast/lunch, Coffee or just wine & cheese. As they become more noticed they may need more staffing especially at breakfast where they seem to have many Belmont Shore Regulars. This is a big change compared to the previous owner a year ago. Local produce should be supported. Can’t wait to try it again as today was our first visit. My son loves Brioche French Toast. We returned for Lunch at it was fabulous! I had the Pear Salad with the house Cab & my son loved his strawberry Brioche & applewood bacon. He was thrilled that you serve breakfast all day!

Came on a Thursday night to try their Wine and Food pairing. You get to try 3 – 4 different types of wine along with a sample of 4 dishes(gorgonzola cheese, meatball, ravioli, lamb). It will not disappoint! The wine server really knows her stuff and she’d give you plenty of time to try the wine and food and socialize. You never felt rushed while dining here. I recommend also the cheese platter which was absolutely delicious and served with marcona almonds, dried apricots, grapes, fig jam, and 3 different types of cheese(brie, goat gouda, and can’t remember the other type of cheese) along with bread and crackers. We felt pretty full by the time we left.

Cool little spot, in a nice area of LB — great for breakfast. My gf and I initially sat outside to enjoy the cool, sunny day but that quickly changed when a family of five sat down right next to us, with their whining, crying little kids mucking up a fine morning. So we moved inside. The wait staff was clearly not pleased we moved seats, and it really seemed to throw off their rhythm. Seriously, people, is it that big of a deal? We placed our orders and the waitress didn’t write anything down. This always bothers me because people forget things, and sure enough she forgot things, too. But she was quick to recover and our meal wasn’t delayed by much. As far as the actual breakfast is concerned, everything came out great. Kinda hard to screw up eggs, bacon and toast. Inside, they have a little market and coffee shop. I dug it. It’s quaint and home-y.

2nd St is my favorite place in Long Beach. It has great food, many coffee shops, and many bars. However, it surprisingly is lacking in breakfast places. A lot of my favorites on 2nd St(Simmzy’s, Shore Public House, Tavern to name a few) have weekend brunch, but the weekday breakfast game is weak. My friend and I went out yesterday morning(Friday) around 11 in search of some nomz. He wanted breakfast food, I wanted lunch food. We ended up at Urban Table since it was practically the only place with breakfast at that time on a weekday. My friend got the french toast with apples and the hangover potatoes(basically country potatoes with onions, bacon, and cheese) and I got the big bacon burger. I am not a huge french toast person, but I thought that the french toast here was pretty good. The hangover fries were disappointing though — nothing special, kind of unevenly cooked, and a little skimpy on the cheese. Fortunately, my burger was very tasty. It is a ½ lb patty that is a blend of chuck, short rib, and brisket — very flavorful. The bun was a delicious buttery brioche — my favorite! The burger is topped with pretty simple toppings — lettuce, tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and bacon. My only complaint with regards to the burger is that I ordered it medium rare but it was definitely medium. The burger came with a plentiful amount of fries that were actually tasty too! Urban Table has a nice atmosphere. You can sit outside, at a regular table inside, or a high table with stools(like we did). Other than this place being a restaurant, it also has a coffee bar, deli, and little marketplace. The prices are decent, the portions are generous, and the service was fine. I would give it 3.5 stars — had to take a star off for overcooking the burger and .5 stars off for disappointing hangover potatoes.

Urban Table’s got a large menu of burgers, salads, omelettes, and more. Fiancée and I grabbed ourselves some half pound burgers(their smallest size), which came out big n’ juicy. It wasn’t cheap at $ 12 a burger, but man if they didn’t give you a lot of food.

I stopped in here for a quick sandwich. I knew nothing about the place other than it used to be a health food store. They have remodeled and it looks super. The veggie sandwich was excellent. The service very good. I liked the menu selection and deli/grocery type items available. Good place to get something for the beach or eat in and enjoy 2nd street.

After driving up to Belmont shores/long beach to see if we wanted to move here, we were starving and stopped here to eat. We sat outside on the tiny patio and ordered our drinks, before the waitress brought them out some lady with obnoxious children sat next to us, so we moved inside. Apparently this caused havoc on the waitstaff. We moved, sorry, deal with it. I got a Bloody Mary and a tasty sandwich. They messed up the boyfriends order but were apologetic and quick to bring it out right. I always expect something to be wrong when servers don’t write down the order. It is very cute inside. Little market area, coffee bar, and kitchen with an open layout. Nothing fancy, just a quaint little place.

URBAN suburban KITCHEN This place is located where Olives used to be and a host of others non memorable eating places because they really weren’t there long enough to stick. Belmont Shores is a NICE little beachy area with shops and eateries. It’s a revolving door of sorts because if you don’t do well your pretty much out of business by the time Fall, winter or spring rolls around when there is little to no business in the area. Also makes finding parking here a lot easier as well. I was over here to pick up something from my AWESOME alterations shop(see Paris Tailors) but it wasn’t ready so I had time to grab lunch before heading back to my cave-a-cal. The setup is pretty much the same as Olives give or take with a cold deli counter with pre-made salads, meats, veggies and cheese and a HOT deli counter with HOT cooked foods you can eat there or take to go. They also do sands and such but I wasn’t feeling any of it. In fact once I saw they had a NICECHEESE selection my rat senses awoke and I wanted a meat and cheese plate. And I was in lunch because they ACTUALLY have some small plates which were specifically what I wanted. I’m not picky ATALL when it comes to cheese. Most rats aren’t but I do prefer the pungent type hard cheeses. I told the lady to surprise me because I really didn’t care at that point. While she made my small pale to go I walked around the shop and saw they have a NICE selection of bottled drinks and different bottled beers and wines, crackers, olives, pastas, spreads and eye-spied a menu for b-fast as well. NICE! There is a small eating area as well if you decided to stay and eat and they have a coffee area where you can get coffee made several different ways. They will also do wine tastings here if you have a group of peeps like I do. My wine meetup organizer is going to stop by and see how the space is and get the particulars or you can call. My small plate was ready in mo time and I headed back to the office. It included two different meats and three different cheeses, as well as, bread and crackers, apple slices, almonds, and jam. It was A LOT and way too much to eat just for lunch so I had a nice dinner but added in some wine. EVERYTHING was REALLYGOOD! I will definitely go back and try a sand or salad for lunch. I also hope my wine group sets something up for us to try some of their wines. If you’re planning a little beach picnic this would be a GREAT place to get some food to bring down to the beach. Plus they provide utensils and plates if you need to buy them as well.
