We were on our way home from soccer in Long Beach and stopped here because of the Unilocal reviews. My daughter ate pancakes and bacon and devoured. I ate the breakfast burrito. Everything was super fresh and the salsa was delicious. My husband had the pastrami and he enjoyed it as well. I really liked the seasoning they used on the French fries! Next time we are going to try the pork sliders!

Had a delicious Umami Cheeseburger and Wasabi fries — both were great! The café is clean and really cute with a laid back atmosphere. Good service and fast. Also had a DELICIOUS hot chocolate made by Mary :) Recommend this place to anyone looking for good food at a reasonable price!!!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The location and exterior may leave you wondering, but go in! Great lunch — can’t wait to go back and try breakfast. The team was so welcoming and nice, and their attentive, friendly service continued even though they were busy. The real surprise was that they could make a good burger and a salad of equal quality. They used mixed greens(not your typical salad in a bag that most burger joints use), fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. and had a great vinaigrette. And the salad was BIG. Thank you Sideyard for pleasing the organic, paleo half of my family as well as the meat and fried food loving half.

Amazing food and service. Breakfast burrito was great. We are not from the area and came to Unilocal to find a good place. This one is a gem.

Awesome food and service. Really great staff — pleasant and on top of everything. We were visiting long beach and found the restaurant. You will not be disappointed. Great burgers, breakfast and shakes. Everyone we were with — 11 of us — including 6 kids were extremely impressed

Just went there for the first time. I got a breakfast burrito with half bacon and half sausage. Got to meet the owners, the owner’s sister, and another guy(didn’t get his name, but he was behind the grill). Good people and I very much enjoyed talking to them. I ordered an iced latte as well which was also made very well and the coffee had great flavor. Thank you very much, Bill and family! You’ll be seeing more of me quite often!

So here’s the thing, I didn’t order too much food here because my daughter and I stopped in for an after school snack. We wanted chili fries and they had some. They also had an espresso bar so I had a fresh-made latte. Then we ordered chicken strips kids meal and I got the cucumber salad on the side. The salad was crunchy and fresh. They boast fresh, locally sourced ingredients. They also offer fresh fruit and vegetable juices. A nice variety of menu items for every member of the family. Everything on the menu here sounds delicious and I can’t wait to come back and order a healthier meal. As a side note, the people who work here are very kind and attentive. Give it a try! I will be returning.

Their breakfast burrito is pretty legit and the my were kind enough to let us order breakfast pass the breakfast hours. I had to come back for their burgers, in particular the ABC burger. It was delicious! People are friendly and it’s a locally owned, so that’s alway a plus!

Breakfast burritos, burgers, and fries … Oh My!!! This is a great little café, owned and ran by Long Beach locals. I have now been here for breakfast and lunch a few times, and I will definitely be back for more. Everything we have had has been cooked to perfection, and extremely tasty. If you are coming in for breakfast I suggest you try the carnitas breakfast burrito, they serve it with this raspberry chipotle jam, and yes I know that sounds weird but trust me your taste buds will thank you. They have several burger options, and you can pick from a ¼ lb or ½ lb Angus beef patty, they also have a veggie, turkey, chicken & salmon options as well. The burgers are fantastic even the veggie(It was amazing), and you have options for the sides of fries, fruit, or cucumber salad. This isn’t just a burger stand either, they have plenty of other options such as smoothies, fancy coffees, omelets, large salads, hot & cold sandwiches. There is definitely something here for everyone. So don’t be shy, pop on in here and enjoy some amazing goodness in your mouth. Trust me, you’ll thank me.

Wow! I love this place. everything on the menu I have had so far has been extraordinary! But my favorite would have to be the BBQ pork sliders! I cannot even finish them both and always save the extra one for later! The Mocha Iced Latte is my favorite go to coffee drink, definitely what I come here for the most. It’s better than anything on the starbucks menu by far! Very casual dining area, perfect to swing by and sit down for a quick and delicious bite! All of the staff is super friendly and helpful. Definitely my favorite local breakfast/lunch/dinner spot. Perfect for any time of the day and any type of craving! Oh… and their juices! I won’t even get started… but those are great too!

I’m always looking for a great breakfast burrito and found it here! I like the local feel and neighborhood convenience. Prices are good and service is friendly. I definitely will come back to check out the pork sliders! When people walk in as if they are entering their own home, you know this place will last!

I suppose if you go somewhere with low enough expectations everything seems amazing. We went to our local new American coffee shop this morning and were amazingly disappointed. It’s not that the food was bad or the coffee or the service but again the expectations were higher than they should’ve been for a place with a traditional breakfast burrito and hamburgers as a staple. I had hoped for something a little better. A little moisture and a little more flavorful, but my traditional breakfast burrito was just a eggs bacon sausage and Hashbrowns rolled into a regular tortilla. I had hoped for a reason to make it my new special place I give it three stars because the food was adequate and that’s what you’ll get

Came here late on a Sunday afternoon & we were seated right away. they only had one waitress so we had to wait a little for our order to be taken. Food was good but took off a star since they messed up on one of our orders. Took off another star since the waitress focused on tables of her friends rather than all of the tables.

Just ate breakfast this morning at Sideyard Café. I have to say it was really good and I was surprised with how tasty my food was. I got the full size Billy’s cinnamon French toast and OHMY it was delicious! The best French toast I have had. It wasn’t overwhelmed with cinnamon or powdered sugar. The toast was crisp and fluffy enough. Mmmmm so good. My dad and I interacted with the owner«Billy» and he was very friendly. Definitely going back and supporting the locally owned business.

Gotta go with 5 stars here. This place is a gem. Listen. ignore the jacked up sign and their outdated 1990’s logo. Forget that this used to be the home of Dave’s Burger. Understand that the ambiance is a work in progress. They’ve only been open for a couple of months, so they get a pass on those things. This is about the food. And, damn. The food is BOMB. I was completely caught off guard. I live in the neighborhood and saw that SideYard replaced Dave’s Burger. I noted the jacked up sign and funky logo, so naturally I wasn’t in a hurry to grab a bite here. I checked their Unilocal after a month and the reviews seemed a little too conjured up and generic… normal for a place that’s just opened. Then, the wife was craving a burger and she told me that she wanted to give it a try. So, I popped in to pick up lunch. As funky as the outside is, the inside of this place is actually pretty nice now. Real welcoming feel. It’s a little confusing, because it has a new school coffee shop vibe, thrown on top of the old Dave’s Burger set up; but it works. The menu is straight forward and there were a couple of things that jumped out at me. Bacon Western Cheese Burger. ABC Burger. Umami Burger. Pulled Pork Sliders. All of the burgers can be ordered as ¼ lb or ½ lb. You know I had to go ½ pound. I ordered the Bacon Western Cheese Burger, hoping it would be a much better version of the Carl’s Jr. classic. Then, I asked the girl working the counter if I should go ABC or Umami(ABC is a bacon avocado cheeseburger. Umami is obviously an asian inspired burger.) She told me go Umami, so I did. I ordered up some wasabi fries and sweet potato fries to tie it all together. The food came out reasonably quick. I chatted with one of the owners, Mary, while I waited. Very nice lady, who was more than willing to talk about their menu. Without knowing what I ordered, she told me that the Umami, ABC, Western Bacon Cheeseburger, and Pulled Pork Sliders have been the best sellers. Go figure. She even took the time to answer my questions about the legit Mazzer coffee grinders sitting next to their expresso bar. Very hospitable. On to the food. Bacon Western Cheeseburger — Wow. Mountain of thick cut crispy bacon. Huge, juicy slab of beef. A giant crispy onion ring. The perfect sauce that brought it all together. This blew my expectation away. Umami Burger — Great sauce. Great burger. Great all around flavor. If you are are craving that Umami flavor, you will be satisfied. They really nailed. The wasabi fries were BOMB. Thick-ish fries, with just enough salt and wasabi flakes to make you want to go back for more. The sweet potato fries were decent. I’d order them again, but they weren’t anything special. I was very impressed by the quality of all of the ingredients. Top shelf, very fresh. I would out their Bacon Western Cheeseburger with wasabi fries against any burger-fries combo in the South Bay. That includes The Standing Room and Tantalum’s Kobe Burger. I will be very surprised if SideYard is not a 4.5 star joint, with several hundred reviews, in the next year. I’ll definitely be back to try breakfast. And, I’ll pray that they get their beer and wine license.

Was alerted to this place thanks to a hanging door advertisement on our front door complete with coupons, buy one burger get another free. So, I took my hungry family to try it out. My little guy was SO excited that they serve breakfast burritos any time of day so of course he ordered one. They are large in size and he enjoyed it. My other, older child opted for the grilled ham and cheese sandwich(which is really funny since he was the one craving burgers in the first place… must’ve changed his mind when he took a look at the menu). He really liked it. The husband had a regular ½ pound cheeseburger, plain with cheese. Because he likes his burgers as simple as possible, he looks for great stand-alone flavor. And believe me, he is capable of being very critical about it. When I asked him how it tasted, he gave me a nod of approval, never skipping a beat while chewing. I’d say he liked it. I ordered the ¼ pound Hawaiian Burger. The size was just right and the flavor was good. Instead of fries, I chose the cucumber salad which tasted good. The only complaint I have about the cucumber salad was I wish they gave more of it… the portion size was a little skimpy. The dining set-up is very informal with many diners just coming up to the counter and ordering to-go and/or sitting down after ordering. The server was very personable and friendly. They serve the food on paper plates and water drinks in plastic cups. It’s not«fine dining» but it’s a great neighborhood«American fare» option. Definitely give it a try if you’re in the area.

The whole breakfast burrito phenomenon is kinda funny, as while they can be delicious, I think their main claim to fame is ease of eating while on the move or driving. We all start our busy days thinking«Well I gotta eat something before I set out…» and often it is a quick bagel or banana. Not bad for you, but not nearly enough nutrition to start your day.(Even worse is having nothing at all!) This is the reason I love the Sideyard Café so much as Bill and Mary, the new owners, really seem to understand modern life in SoCal and are offering great solutions. I LOVE the Healthy Burrito, with grilled quinoa and spinach, as it packs plenty of real fuel into a package easy to eat… and it tastes great… especially with Bill’s fantastic salsa. Wash it down with a cup of their specially blended coffee and my day is ON!!!

What an awesome find! My family and I were looking for a new place to grub and found this hidden gem. At first I was trying to navigate to it and kept coming up with Dave’s Burgers. It’s the old Famous Dave’s. If you pull up the address as 2222 Palos Verde Ave them you’ve got the right place! My wife had the grilled pastrami. According to her, it was just a regular pastrami. Nothing special. My daughter got the kids meal. Regular Corn dog. The magic is in the other burgers. My family missed out. I was deciding between the Hawaiian, which is a REAL Hawaiian without the pineapple, or the umami. I went with the umami. There have been only a few choices in history that truly made an impact on history. Building the Great Wall of China. The pope coming to the US. Me choosing the Umami Burger. The flavors just hit you in the palette with a force of a Howitzer(sp?). The burger was cooked to perfection. Lettuce was crisp. The glaze is just a perfect compliment to wasabi flakes. Salty and sweet and just enough spice to flavor it, not to burn you. My 7 year old had a bite and said it wasn’t spicy. And you get a different flavor every time you bite. OMG! I think I need to go get another one… Ok so I didn’t. But that’s how good this burger was. I cant wait to go back and try the Hawaiian! I’m definitely coming back and recommend you go try it! Don’t let the look of the place fool you. It is a little on the plain side. But it’s clean and pleasing in a comfort food way. COMFORTFOODWAY. I love coming to places that make me feel comfortable. Thank you Bill(chef and owner?) for coming out and checking on us and our experience. It says a lot about how much you care about your customers! GONOWPEOPLE!
