Too small bar, can’t dance, can’t even move or find place to sit, and I don’t know why people play billiard there and bother people by hitting them and just saying sorry and do it again!!!

I want to give almost 0 stars but that’s not an option. We had been waiting in line for almost 20minutes and the bouncer kept letting people in from the side. My boyfriend goes in and he gets his arm pulled, what are we suppose to do after waiting for 20 minutes and seeing them let a bunch of people out of line before us?! The bouncer has a red long beard. He’s rude and terrible.

Cool little spot, if you get there early enough you can grab a spot at the bar & get in before you stand in line. Low priced strong drinks, younger crowd, good vibes & music. Pool table in the back. Definitely one of the better bars on 2nd.

If you’re looking for a place on 2nd street to catch a buzz or maybe drink a few too many(for cheap) then you’ve found the place! The drinks here are very reasonably priced! Get here before 8 to get a spot at the bar.

You can’t leave Shannon’s with out shooting the root! Whenever my friends come to visit it’s always a must to go to this bar to strictly shoot the root. Can’t recommend it enough!

No stars. First time at this bar visiting from San Diego, This is the first review I’ve written for anything but I have never received the kind of service that was offered here by bartender Amanda and an unknown male employee. Worst of the worst. Came in, bought one drink that cost around $ 12 and my friend did the same. First drink of the night and we were babysitting watching our guy friends play pool. We start walking through the crowd to get to the other side of the bar, as I told a guy«excuse me» making my way through, he kindly scooted over and I was able to walk by. However the grown drunk woman he was talking to didn’t like that he moved over so two girls could walk by. So she started calling my friend a «fat whore,» which then my friend told her something back and they were going back and forth. The woman was obviously friends with the bartender who served us our drinks(that were still to the top, two sips in) because the bartender abruptly walked out from behind the bar and attacked my friend, viciously grabbed her drink away and told her«You need to go! You don’t know who your messing with! Don’t mess with me!» My friend left accompanied by our guy friends who were in shock as was I.(This happened in a 2 – 3 min timeframe) During the bartenders attack on my friend, the guy who was a gentleman and made room for us to walk by, was yelling at the bartender by her name, Amanda, saying«Amanda stop! Stop Amanda» probably because he knew who started the confrontation which was the very drunk woman he was with. Amanda didn’t stop and got her way. I then told Amanda, still in shock about what happened, «Amanda you didn’t have to choose favorites because you know that woman you saw who was in the wrong.» She looked at me in confusion as to who I was for a second, then decided to use her superior bartender force on me by coming at me strong and trying to yank my cup away from me too. I was completely sane to hold my ground and drink and say, «what are you doing? What kind of professionalism are you doing?» She then of course started yelling off the top of her lungs a bunch of ghetto rants about kicking my ass and blah blah blah. While I was holding my cup tight saying leave me alone, we didn’t do anything, I paid for this drink and have yet to even partially drink it. Of course another worker that was working in the back when we first got there by the pool tables, tall dark/tan male, decides to grab the cup too which is now being held by 3 people and said«let go!» Of course since the other guy is still yelling at Amanda to stop, I figured this guy was telling her to let go too because by this point I was saying«where’s your manager!?» Thinking he was the manager that finally came. He ended up being another psycho employee backing Amanda up, so I didn’t even bother to waste my time with even further wrecked service that I let go in big disappointment toward their character. Not even service, their character to viciously attack customers based on defending their drunk friends, thinking they have the upper hand. Your SERVICING people, you don’t have the upper hand you do what’s best for your CUSTOMERS. What these 2 employees, Amanda and her male coworker, should have done was calm the girls down from yelling at each other about who’s fat(which btw my friend is a size 2 so if anything it was just silly to hear nonsense back and forth) But instead they took the situation as if it were done out in the streets with no rules applied. Sad. Either this place needs to go through proper customer service training or remove individuals who think they could act like ghetto superstars and think they have nothing to lose. This is your job, it pays your life necessities and probably your family’s, don’t ruin it. Wow, there goes my first review! And usually I find people’s long reviews entertaining and silly. Now I’m on that end.

Tonight I realized why I never come here. I’ve lived a block away for over 2 years. Only been here twice. Tonight I bought 3 different rounds of the same beer and was charged a different price each time. Every time I tried to order the bartender was«closing out» and didn’t want to serve me. Never returning again. As if anyone cares.

If I go out to Long Beach I know I am going here. It is a small bar but with enough space to sit or stand. Drink prices are fair and the bartenders are experienced. I went in about a month ago and Jess served me. She was friendly and funny and knew what she was doing behind the bar. Even during peak business she looked calm and handled everything. Kudos to her! There’s a pool table too and a life size Jenga set(that is prob missing a few pieces but it’s still fun.) The tvs were showing various sports games which was appropriate. It got semi crowded but the other customers were friendly.

I had an exceptional time at Shannons until I decided to purchase multiples songs from the jukebox. I added 4 – 5 songs to the queue and saw that some of my songs were playing soon until a man walked up and claimed jurisdiction over the jukebox. Turned out he had some authority over it and had access to the jukebox via cell phone and could override songs in the queue. People paid hard earned money for that shit. I just wanted to listen to some R Kelly and Misfits until Hitler himself flexed on me. Never again. If you want to have a good time don’t come to Shannon’s. If you still insist on going don’t waste your money on the jukebox.

This bar isn’t necessarily one of my favorites although I do frequent it quite a bit due to proximity. The vibes are just kinda lame. Mostly college kids who don’t know how to conduct themselves at a bar. It smells and feels like you’re stuck in a hallway when it gets busy. I always feel a little grimy when I leave this bar. They do make good drinks and that’s why people come here! The bartenders are pretty cool too. And it’s been on second street forever, kind of a landmark.

I don’t understand how, on Sunday football, you can have barely a bartender. Came in sat down. Waited 20 minutes. The security asked if we even got our drinks yet… nope. Then he asked what we would like, ordered our beers yet another 10 minutes found him sitting back in the front. Where’s are beers? We just left. Probably never go back what a waste of time. Props to Shannon’s great service. Ha! A joke. Riley’s pub and right next door and helped us within minutes with a well staffed business.

Great dive bar! It also doesn’t get super packed since they have a guy at the front. You do see some odd balls at times, but it comes with the territory of a dive. They have a shoot-the root, taste like rootbeer, but I’m not a rootbeer fan. Also, I think you can spin their wheel with shooters on it during the week.

I had a great time when I visited my friend who just moved to Long Beach. Located on 2nd street. Cheap drinks, definitely great for broke grad students like myself. They also did not water down my drinks, which was awesome! People were fun and nice for the most part. I enjoyed being there except the bar is kind of narrowly-shaped(if that makes sense) and a little bit small; so it got crowded pretty quickly. Overall, I think it was a great experience!

Monday night as I was leaving Shannon’s I kicked a broken glass right outside of the bar. The glass had been provided by the bar and I don’t know why they were allowing patrons to take it outside! As I was bleeding outside no one from the bar approached us, which I didn’t think about at the time. The next morning I had to get 15 stitches in two of my toes and now I can’t work. This bar should not be allowing people to drink outside and then not cleaning up when they break the glasses.

After a very hard day saying good-bye to a dear friend who passed, we decided to walk a coupe of blocks to celebrate Jasenka’s life. Shannon’s Bayshore was the perfect dive bar to honor our friend. It’s her kind of place. A dive bar with class. We autographed a bill and placed it on the wall in her honor, played her favorite music and danced to celebrate her beautiful life. The staff was friendly, the drinks were generous and the juke box was perfect. Thanks Shannon’s Bayshore. You helped make a difficult time a little bit better with libations, great service and music. ~ @thatgalkiki

I wish I could write negative reviews although it can’t The security did not let me in because they said I was to drunk. How do they judge this call? The dude did not even ask me my name before rejecting me. I’m so upset because I was looking forward into checking this bar out.

Shannon’s has been my favorite bar on second st for over 2 years now but after last nights service I will never go there again. The bartender Gina was extremely aggressive with me and was upset over her tip. I understand that’s what you do for a living but you should never confront customers about how much they tip you period! After she saw her tip amount she came back to us and and very aggressively remarked,“Really? You are so rude, you’re so f-ing rude. You shouldn’t even be allowed in here.” My friends turned to me and after seeing what was going on they threw her a couple bucks more. But, she was still staring me down and making me feel very uncomfortable. I WASSOSHOCKED and felt very intimidated, only God knows what she would have done to my drink if I ordered another one. I can not believe a bartender was pretty much bullying her way with customers to get more money. Don’t get your drinks with Gina!

Such a fun, crowded, small, divey bar. Went here for a couple of drinks on a Saturday night. They have modern juke box which is great, until someone puts on a crappy song(not me!). Hardly in this area, but would come back.
