When it comes to work, I’m all over it, but at home it’s a different story. Meet Ricky, the Procrastinator. I was put in charge of finding remodelers for my ma’s house and given a strict deadline of August 20th to have it ready for the new renters. There was plenty of plumbing, flooring, electrical, carpet, walls, kitchen, bathroom YOUNAMEIT! I think it would have been easier just to demolish the place and build a new house lol. So here comes August. Hmm, what was I supposed to do??? ? OHEXPLICATIVE! THEHOUSE! Frantically searching Unilocal and Google, I came up with nothing. I needed a review that I could trust, because hiring the wrong guy could be disastrous. Finally, someone in the family referred me to Peter, saying he had done a great job with tiling and installing a rail, and had used him several times since for small fixes. I called Peter but my heart sank when he told me he was booked up, and proceeded to call other contractors. Everyone with any credibility was booked, and I was screwed. An hour later Peter called me back to see how my search was going(whoa!), and after explaining my situation, he said he would be able to work on my project and meet the deadline. And so it was to be that Peter of the great Remodelex was to work on the house. While extremely grateful, I was suspicious of his callback, «ah, must be going to raise the rates. oh well.» But the following day when he came out for the estimate, his bid came in lower than most the other quotes and ballparks I had received over the phone with the other contractors. I don’t think it would be right to disclose the dollar amount, but in my experience and compared to the other quotes, it was definitely a good price. Long story short, he not only met the deadline, he did a great freaking job! I’m the kind of guy who notices small imperfections, but lo and behold I couldn’t find any. Everything came out the way I had imagined and it couldn’t have gone better. Later I came to find out that he was able to accommodate my project because he was working on my house during the day, and the other booked project at night. Hard working guy! Peter was a fun guy to talk to, too. I’ll definitely be referring him to everyone, and am happy to be the first to review him on Unilocal! We even became Facebook friends, lol! :D
