We reluctantly went back and had a little bit better experience. I did learn that the business is for sale because of some medical issues so that may explain the downturn of friendliness? It used to be my favorite spot to visit every single day we are in Long Beach. I keep going because I like her coffee. I just wish she’d be a little more appreciative of the people supporting her business and maybe get some help cleaning the place. Our coffees were all good! That’s what I’m there for. I really hope whoever buys it keeps the coffee the same. It is the best at the south end of town. We’ve been to all others!

Despite your Unilocal hours, you were not open today. Checked at 9am and again at 11am. You might want to post a sign on your door or update your Unilocal page.

I have a feeling I had the same barista as some of the other Unilocalers because she didn’t seem happy to see us when we walked in. We were both ordering Americanos, however I was going to add flavoring to mine. I didn’t see the flavors listed or anywhere in sight so I asked if they had flavoring and she said yes. I asked what kind, and she said«every kind,» so I said I would like«toffee nut please» and she said«we don’t have toffee nut, we have English toffee.» So you don’t have every kind then, thanks for clearing that up. Of course I didn’t say this because I didn’t want anything extra special in my coffee, so I just asked if they had caramel instead, which they did. I really enjoyed my coffee and I thought the café itself was very cute. We didn’t hang out there after getting our coffee, but it looks like a good place to meet with friends.

This place is a wonderfully pleasant little haven tucked away from the strip of tourist traps. The atmosphere, original works of art, comfy couches, and softly playing tunes were as good for the senses as the frothy Mexican mocha. Perfect for this mom to rest a bit while the boys ride go carts in the misty chill next door.

Drip carafes and signs very dirty, flies behind counter, limited options for non-dairy, grumpy female staff. Such potential for its space. Roasts were good. Not clean though so take your chances

This was formerly our favorite coffee shop in Long Beach, until a ridiculous episode yesterday. We paid for two drip coffees, then found the self-serve carafes empty. OK, no worries, the«barista» took them away… to brew more coffee, right? … WRONG. After a 10-minute wait, we inquired about our eagerly-awaited replacement coffee. «There isn’t any more,» she replied. «How about an Americano?» we asked. «We are out of beans.» After getting our money back, we departed in a state of confusion. Today we got top-flight service and tasty drip coffee across the street at the Golden Arches… who clearly know how to win over new customers.

Needed coffee and Diamond had a long line so we decided to give these guys a try. The woman running the place had a really bad attitude and i had to ask several times for a sleve. When she answered it was as if i was bothering her. Theyre self serve appatently but since this was our first time there, we didn’t know. I only drink white coffee and have NEVER disliked it, no matter where I’ve ordered it or what flavors have been added — until having it here this morning. Bad coffee. Bad service. Stick with Diamond.

I love this place! Must have a coffee from here every time I visit Long Beach! Strong, delicious coffee drinks and fresh ground or whole bean coffee available for purchase. Free Wi-Fi.

This place is horrible. The service is awesome but the coffee doesn’t taste good, there’s no wifi, and you can’t even use your phone too loudly. There is too many«do not’s» they constantly tell you what to do. And I even kicked out for talking loudly. DONOTCOMETOTHISPLACE!

I thought this was quite a cute coffee shop. It is a lot larger than I thought it would be from looking at the outside, but once you enter you realize that there are two rooms. Unlike what some reviewers have said, I found that the shop was quite clean and orderly. It was also surprisingly empty for a fourth of july. I believe that there were only two people who came and went during our visit. Staff was okay. Seemed like they were very social with people they liked, and very formal with the unfamiliar. Coffee was decent.

By far the best espresso anywhere. Try the Mexican Mocha; it’s completely a 4-a-day habit! This is easily our first and last stop when we visit the Long Beach peninsula, and I’ve never been disappointed.

Not sure how they did this, but my latte tastes like burnt water. Seriously, I’ve had better coffee from a gas station. The barista was not friendly and it was so quiet that I was almost afraid to breathe. Definitely not the welcoming cozy environment I expect from a coffee shop. Heading up the street to the drive thru coffee place…

Not the best location, thus 4 stars. Coffee is excellent. Service is excellent. Very clean place with ample seating. We got one latte and one iced caramel latte. Both drinks were very smooth. Latte was at perfect temperature with almost perfect milk to shots ratio. Will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Summary — I threw away my coffee, it tasted so bad I read the reviews before I went in. So I thought I’m going to be friendly, not bring children, pay with cash and know exactly what I want. I will be the easiest person to work with! I was greeted by a frowning barista. I asked her how she was — she pursed her lips and said ‘good’.(Yea, I believe you! Lol) I ordered my drinks and she walked away to make them. While standing at the counter my view was of the back stock room — tons of junk all over, on shelves and on the floor. The floor was so dirty! I understand that coffee is a messy business between oils from the beans and coffee grounds, but this is just dirty and cluttered.(See photo) I looked around the guest area — it seems clean but messy. There’s couch pillows on the floor and books & magazines everywhere. With all the greeting cards, art and beach treasures for sale it’s pretty cluttered. Still no music, so it’s very quiet. I wasn’t able to see her make my coffee so I don’t know what happened back there… The coffee is so bitter and has a lingering acidic after taste. I tossed my coffee and drove over to Diamond coffee to try them. Price — as expected $ 7.20 for two lattes(no flavors) *Milk alternatives: Soy & Almond

Wonderful, if a bit odd of a location. Farther back into the strip mall behind the go-kart track and across from the theater but don’t let the location and appearance fool you, the quaint coffee roasters make a good cup of joe. 3 Mochas, no burnt bean flavor a la starbucks. Regular mocha was nice and chocolately and the white chocolate mocha was sweet but not overly sweet(as can happen). I’m going to fairly point out that if you like«Bite» to your coffee, you like the burnt flavor of your beans(a la Starbucks). Good coffee houses DONOT burn your shots of espresso when adding it to your coffee. This is a good coffee house. Lots of antiques and local art throughout. Books in the other room as well as a guitar and piano. Burlap coffee bags line some of the walls and there’s even a roaster that must be used to roast all their beans in-house. Loved the old doors that were repurposed into furniture throughout the shop. Lots of places to sit — couches, tables, and even what looked like a baby changing table and some baby toys. No pastrys but we were there at about 11:30 and they opened at 7– the early bird gets the worm– but not a deal breaker for us. A short walk from the Inn at Discovery coast, Adrift Hotel, and the Worldmark by Wyndham. Worth it! Wanted to leave a top on the card– option was not available so take your cash.

One of the worst coffees I have had in ages. No flavor no bite. I ordered a latte and it tastes like watered down drip coffee with half assed warm milk. With no air ration. I personally think that they used a microwave to warm the milk.

Got a great cappuccino here last week and an ok cappuccino here last week, each from a different barista. Overall I liked this place a lot and bought a couple of mugs by a local artist that are fabulous! The coffee is very good and the place is a great spot to sit and relax and read the paper. Love that they have burlap coffee bags decorating a wall in one room. My dogs appreciated the water bowl sitting outside too. Would happily return again.

Either the owner was having a seriously bad day or she just doesn’t like to interact with customers. Either way, why patronize an establishment where you’re treated like an inconvenience because you have a question about refills or want an alternative to cow milk? Also, take a peek at the floor while you’re getting your self serve coffee. It is really gross and dirty.

Was a cute little place to walk to. Whenever I see a coffee roaster my expectations are very high though so I went into it expecting a lot. I got an 8oz black Americano. It tasted a bit bland. The shot was under extracted and came out too fast. It didn’t taste bad it was just missing some nice tasting notes of the espresso. Just didn’t have any body to it. However, that could just be the way they roast and blend the espresso. The inside was a bit cluttered at first. A lot of things out and advertised and stuff. There was no music it was absolutely silent in their which was very awkward. I don’t enjoy that. It makes me feel nervous. Also, try stamping your hot cups with your logo for some easy marketing and advertising opportunities. However, this place was nice, friendly staff, coffee was good enough and would probably taste better in a latte or mocha, and I enjoyed a nice scone. Keep up what you’re doing right LBCR and perhaps make it seem a little more inviting.

Love coming here when I’m home visiting family. Cozy, warm, and(if you love coffee) the smell is amazing! Oh and free wifi with purchase – can’t beat free wifi on the peninsula. Absolutely love the teas! My favorite drink both taken to-go in paper cups and served in house steeped in a teapot with timer! Also if you ask they have soy milk! So why only three stars: I always seem to come on an off day in terms of espresso drinks. It’s always bitter no matter what drink I’m getting – which is a sign of a badly pulled espresso shot. And I can’t say it’s just one drink here and there – I bought 412oz. drinks to go one time and all tasted bitter($ 15 later and a bunch of bitter drinks did not make for a nice family treat)! Recap: tea is great! Soy milk is a plus(if you need/want it) and the hot coco is great too. Also they can and are more than happy to do kids temp! Coffee is good. Espresso drinks: for me are bitter. Oh and they close early(for this city gal): 4PM.
