I’ve been here for or five times now, and their food is delicious. Fresh and flavorful. Great, inexpensive micheladas. Friendly, helpful servers and staff. I love the pastor quesadilla, ceviche, and the tostada de camarones la plancha. I also love the bean and cheese burrito. La Concha is an awesome, authentic little gem in east Long Beach.

We came here because my mom was having a craving for huevos divorciados.(I guess in my family we have really specific cravings.) Unfortunately, they hardboiled the ‘fried’ eggs and had unremarkable salsas(plus, there was way more green than red — not an equal split in the egg divorce at all!) and the rice and beans were average, BUT, luckily, we also ordered birria! La Concha has tender, tender, super gamey birria with just the right ratio of meat to sauce: somewhere between soup, curry, and stew. Each piece feels different in your mouth, but none of it is tough. It doesn’t need lime and onions, but they do enhance it. It was listed as a special of the day, but it was also on their menu. If you see it, grab it!

This place is a hit or miss. At times you will come out satisfied and other times with diarrhea. But service is good. I guess depending on what you order is how good your experience will be. I’ve had tacos and they are pretty good. Burritos seemed stale. Camarones seemed good. Like I said hit or miss. Depending on the day and what you order. Parking can get crowded but it’s ok. The restaurant is not too big but decent enough for a weekday dinner. Overall I would say if you really really crave Mexican food, then risk it. Usually I get a voucher on

My fourth visit here so I feel confident to report this place is worth your time. I had to come back and edit bc I forgot the most important: the ladies who worth here are SO nice, you feel like you are visiting a very nice distant relative. Service is excellent. Spotless bathroom. Great, cheap tacos. Pretty good Tortas.(I like a bit more beans & crema on mine but the other half loves them). EXCELLENTSOPES. Carnitas are tender and moist. Carne Asada & chicken totally decent.

Ok, I’m finally writing a review because of all the things I love about this place. First of all, location, for me personally, I’m half a mile away and they are open till 10 which clutch when many places close at 9. The micheladas here are my favorite, with Modelo, I consistently get two even though they are filling! Enchiladas. They are my test of a restaurant, the shredded chicken is not dry in the least bit and smothered in red or green sauce. The chips and dip you get are substantial and the dip is not the usual boring salsa. Service is wonderful, very attentive. I would recommend this place over and over again!

Muy excilente comida! I had the carne asada, which had been marinated and was very flavorful. My husband had their specialty, carne en su jugo, which he just raved about. I tried some and it is really good. Oh, and the corn tortillas are handmade, which is awesome. I gave it 4 stars because I asked for no sour cream, and not only was there sour cream, but it was touching my food. I really really really hate, loathe, and despise sour cream — it makes me physically ill to even look at it. My husband had to remove it and I lost some food in the process. No bueno. But I digress. It’s not a fancy place, however it is clean and the employees are really friendly — and they have a nice, big fish tank! Will definitely be back.

Good breakfast spot for the weekend. My boyfriend wanted pozole so we called up and the lady was so nice in the phone and told us to come in. It was very good and and a huge bowl. I ordered the chilaquilas with Asada. It was way too much food for one person. The rice and beans were great and the Asada had great flavor. Will be coming back to the spot again. I saw two girls eating a giant bowl of shrimp cocktail and wish I would have got that.

Don’t go here if you’re on a diet. Their portion is huge and the food is so delicious that you WILL finish a plate that could serve 3 people… That being said, La Concha is one of LB best! I love Mexican food and there are so many places in town to choose from, but I keep coming back to this place. It is truly a moms and pops kinda place, humble, a bit run down, the nice smiles behind the counter and out of this world delicious food. Just a quick warning, when you order something spicy, expect it to be SPICY. I once ordered the pulpo ranchero(not on the menu, you’d have to ask for it) which is octopus smothered in a red chili garlic sauce, I cried so much inside(literally). Dang, writing this review makes me hungry…

Dear La Concha, I just want you to know that you never disappoint me when I crave authentic Mexican food. I don’t remember the exact day I stumbled upon your graces, but I am so glad that I found you. You don’t look like much from the outside(neighborhood and convenience store) but who would judge a book by its cover especially in Long Beach. Your staff always accommodate to the specifics of how we want our food cooked(no rice, á la carte, just beans, no cream, etc.). Your staff is so friendly and show their smiles when we walk through the door. The gratitude you exhibit when you place the chips and spicy salsa on the table shows me that you care. There are a few staples that we love about you. We can always count on your awesome Carne Asada/Carnitas Burritos [Wet or Dry], Tacos, Tortas, Camarón Cóctels, Campechana Cóctels, and Enchiladas. Aww, La Concha just writing this review makes me want to stop in next week and partake upon your deliciousness. Until, we meet again… Sincerely, Love J.

Pulling up I have to say that this place doesn’t look like much and the inside is simple too. Not one to judge any place based on looks and the food didn’t disappoint! Our server Maggie was great! She was very friendly and took good care of us. Torta Ahogada is a carnitas torta floating in a very spicy super delicious red sauce and smothered in Red Onions. Don’t be fooled by the small price of $ 6.95. Bring your appetite for this one! The shrimp ceviche and cocktail were also totally loaded with shrimp and were great too. We got to taste the Carne en su Jugo which is a super good beef soup. If you are in the mood for soup I highly recommend it! I’m adding this to our regular spots for great Mexican food in Long Beach!

Writing a long overdue review on this hidden gem. Nothing fancy(slightly cheesy décor), just good food and great service. My favorites include their Chiliquilles plate, Steak a la Méxicana dinner, and Filete al mojo de ajo(fish filet with garlic sauce). All are amazing, plus they carry my favorite Mexican beer, Negro Modelo. Before I forget… their flans(different types) are great, as is their Arroz con leche(rice pudding). I recommend visiting here for close to authentic without being overly adventurous. Now, I think we have to go here again soon… it’s been too long.

Only reason I put one is because the chips and salsa were very good. Other than that the beans were canned and very dry the only reason I was able to eat them was because my boyfriend gave me some carne en su jugo juice to put over them. The«camarones costa Azul» were the worst ever. Super try and tasteless. Will never be back here again.

Anahiem Street has some awesome hidden gems, including this little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. Ordered the taco/enchilada combo(good portions), carnitas wet burrito(covered in spicy verde sauce, yum!) and the carne en su jugo(a little salty but very flavorful). Delicious tortillas and refills on Jamaica. Plus I used a certificate, so the price was right. Nothing to complain about!

I have eaten here before and it was all dandy so we decided to grab some food from here again. The onions of their special beef tongue dish was burnt and their garlic fish filet dish was drenched in oil. Unfortunately we got the food to go and couldn’t get the dish redone. For a restaurant, these are rookie mistakes and shouldn’t occur. No thanks I’ll eat Mexican food elsewhere.

I ordered the chicken soup, a carne asada taco, side of beans, chips and salsa… The soup was solid. I really didn’t care the cut of meats I got. but it tasted great. Came with all the fixin’s as it should. The carne asada had great flavor! BUT the meat was a horrible cut. I couldn’t eat the meat. But delish flavor. The salsa was really good. I had two small bowls. The chips were fresh… the beans were good as well. Def will be going back.

Pretty good spot. On the pricey side considering the portion and the area. On the hood side of Long Beach so I did not except to see $ 8 burritos and $ 13 and $ 17 dinner platters. Also the Corona’s almost cost me 4 a pop. Now it’s approaching bar prices. I’ve eaten here multiples and I will say this I wish THIS were the spot that was open late. Not that horrible Mexican place next door. A lot of flavor in the meat. The standout item from this place is the rice pudding. I LOVE their rice pudding its particularly good. Aside from being on the expensive side this place is solid Mexican food across the board.

We needed something quick, and didn’t also want to have trouble with parking, since we would be going to Dark Harbour. The restaurant is located in a very small commercial area, but there was enough parking. It wasn’t sure what to expect inside, since the façade looked less than inviting. I was surprised with the interior, however, it looked clean, and not run-down at all. The waitress seated us and immediately served chip and salsa. Her English was also quite good. I’m also not sure if she did it on purpose, but she changed the TV to an English channel once the Hispanic patrons left. I am not a fan of spicy food and have low tolerance for it. And all the tacos had red salsa on top which was pretty spicy to me, but it had a good fire-roasted taste to it. Next time, I would prefer it on the side. All the tacos also came with a good amount of meat. Carne Asada taco — 5⁄5 My fiancé and I agreed that it was the best of all the tacos we ordered. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. Carnitas taco — 4⁄5 Soft, not dry at all, and very tasty. Not salty! Al Pastor taco — 4⁄5 Not usually a fan of this taco, because it tastes weird to me, but this one was tender and flavorful Lengua taco — 3⁄5 My first time trying this, and I was not disappointed. Über soft, but does not have much flavor compared to the other meats, but does taste better when eaten as a whole taco, and not picked out with a fork. Mexican Sandwich with Carnitas — 4⁄5 I’ve never had anything like this. And I even asked if it was on white or wheat bread or a tortilla. All wrong, of course. The bread is a torta, which appears to be toasted, so it is a little crisp with the initial bite, but nice and soft. They did not skimp on the meat, either, and it was very filling. The carnitas stayed warm throughout the meal, too. The total came to about $ 14. That’s what I’m talking about!
