Catalina Bistro and Express Grill

Fairly priced, good service. The food was really good and I’m pretty picky foodie. I got the grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich and I enjoyed it. Much better than I had anticipated.

This is for the Express Grill.
Picked up a coffee, chocolate milk, two bagels with cream cheese and a muffin for about $ 18 bucks, high prices but then again if you need that coffee fix you should have gone somewhere else.
Staff are helpful and get you on your way in no time.
They have a counter space and a few tables in the area, or you can take it outside and enjoy the view.

The bistro was inviting, looked somewhat promising but it didn’t deliver. Beer selection was limited and the food was mediocre. It filled the hole but everything including the service was lackluster.

It’s 6am, here at the «Express Grill» at the Catalina Express… there is three people working behind the counter. I walk up with my family to order and no hello, can I help you, no anything! They just stared!
Then, there’s the prices… One muffin, $ 5!!! You have no other choices of places to eat, they have the market on the food and drinks.
I recommend you stop at a local grocery store and bring your own food, drink, etc. There are signs in their area saying «No outside food and drinks!» But, in the searing/​terminal area, you’re good to go!
Poor customer service, overpriced!

Walked in and walked back out. It was early and there was a waitress in there who didn’t greet us whatsoever or ask if we needed help, i asked if they served food too and she said yeah. Then I stood there waiting for her to show us a menu but nope. I asked her for a menu and instead of eating up to show me she says «it’s right there on the bar» so I grabbed it looked and elated out, despite her sitting there not doing anything I said thank you, and she said nothing back at all. Not friendly and honestly just seemed lazy.

I came to the bar to order some food at 1130 before it was time to board at 1215. The bartender names Jessie as soon as I walked in he ask me if I was going to order food so I said yes and he responded «well I’m sorry u can’t order from me because your order won’t be ready in time.“And some girls next to us said to him «but we want to order too» and he respond «oh but ur food won’t take that long.» He then told us to go to the store in the corner that they were faster so my boyfriend decides to go order some food. In the mean while I ask the bartender for a latte and while I was checking my phone some other people came and sat down in the bar and start ordering. Several minutes later I remind the bartender about my latte and he said give me just a min then after a few more mins the guy next to me ordered an espresso and was served before me! I was left feeling unattended and unwelcome so I gave up and decided to just walk out and go to the store in the corner café. While eating my food and talking to my boyfriend about it the girls next to us over heard us and then they said «we also went and ordered a coffee and he said that his coffee was too strong that maybe the should go to the store in the corner and get a coffee there we were in choke that this guys was just deciding who to serve and the people that he didn’t like to be there he would send to the store in the corner I don’t know if this guy was racist or just thought we don’t tip well but it is just so horrible to feel unwelcome when we trying to have a gateway and have a pleasant day.

Great little bar and restaurant to visit while you wait to board the ferry to Catalina. I tried the breakfast sandwich. It was great. Fresh ciabatta, fluffy eggs, crispy bacon and a sundried tomato aioli. They have a very tasty spicy Bloody Mary. The seating is comfortable and the service was good.
