The owner Eleno is the man! Gave me a free beer for fathers day! This guy is a strong member of his community and is dedicated to treating his customers like a family. Good beers. Good coffee. Good people. Good wifi. What more can a coffee shop offer you?

Honestly this has turned into my go to coffee shop the prices are great and the quality is up there! I can’t believe it doesn’t get as much exposure as other places but I may see why do to the location. I am a huge coffee guy and this place is just overall the best in town. CASH ONLY

Cute place! Hidden lil gem in LB. They have wifi, coffee & the décor is what you come here for. There’s vintage and art, birdcages haha, and it’s an overall nice place to sit and have coffee.

Great coffee and the atmosphere is lovely! As soon as you step in you’ll be amazed at the beautiful artwork hanged and the incredible ceiling art!

No sane person would give this diamond in the rough anything less than 5 stars. From the lush flora outside to the intricate Latin American décor inside it’s clear the owner cares about his place. Had an amazing Cuban espresso roast and the croissamy sandwich that accompanied it was prepared perfectly and the croissant fresh, not at all hinting of the typical 3-​day-​old stale stuff you often find. First coffee shop I came to in Long Beach… might me my last one for a good while.

Really great sandwiches and coffee here, but it’s not really a place to post up at and work on your computer, as the wifi is extremely spotty and doesn’t extend to the outdoor patio, unfortunately.

Such a quaint place, great menu and love their coffee. I wish I’d tried them out before moving out of the neighborhood, but I do plan to make them my «go-​to» in the mornings before heading in to work. The owner is super nice and all the staff are very friendly. Much better vibe than any Starbucks (or chain) can offer. Excellent small owned business!

I’m definitely not diggin’ the CASH ONLY idea. It’s a great find in the heart of LB but please seriously consider accepting credit cards! I’ve been wanting to try them out & the day I go, luckily I had some cash on me. Or else my trip would’ve been a total bummer. There’s plenty of street parking which is out of the norm in dtLB.
The moment you spot this little shop, you’d be amaze how breathtaking it is. It really does remind me of a Bird Cage! There’s plenty of avail reads and the patio area is so relaxing. The decors all around look really unique and antique-​y. (Don’t break anything!) I love the whole vibe. If you’re one who can’t do work in a loud environment, then this is the spot to go. Everyone knows each other, yet knows better not to distract them when working.
I ordered my fave blended drink ANYWHERE – MEXICAN CHOCOLATE! It’s so refreshing and the sweetness is on point. I highly recommend it. It does only come in one size, so heads up. I can’t wait to try the other drinks. I’ll be back soon.

A little quiet oasis in the middle of a mixed neighborhood. Excellent coffee, sandwiches and croissants. Offers a great selection of Lavazza coffee drinks and freshly squeezed juices with fruits and vegetables of your choice. Very friendly service, cash only.

What a great piece of Long Beach culture and an excellent example of small business success. I have read the other reviews on here and I am perplexed at the ones that aren’t fantastic. A great ambiance, excellent drinks, and a true small business experience. No doubt, give this place a try before you take some of these reviews as truth. Great place!

While the vibe is cool and the baristas are really nice, the drinks are not good at all. I got chai and my friend got coffee and we were both sick to our stomachs after coming here. It’s all too sweet and poor quality. And the milk alternatives are not good either. That being said, it is a cute place, and there is a decent amount of seating. It beats a Starbucks but not much else.

A great place to sit, grab some coffee and work.
It’s open early which is convenient for an easterner coming out to the west coast.
I’ve added it to my short list of Long Beach coffee houses.

This is an adorable place. The owner was extremely friendly. I didn’t realize it was cash only until I walked in. I was going to leave and get some cash but the owner insisted on just giving me the latte. What a great way to start my day! Thank you Birdcage Coffeehouse!

Wow what a great little place off the beaten path. So glad I found it. Wonderful atmosphere and really good coffee and treats. I highly recommend it

I used to come here regularly, and was excited when it first opened. The décor is great, and it has a cool vibe. The reason I stopped going was because the owner constantly gossips about people in the neighborhood. Every time we spoke he had something to say about someone, and it made me feel uncomfortable. I tried giving hints and even ignored his comments, but that didn’t do any good. I also live in the neighborhood, and got to thinking to myself… if he talks about people like that, what does he say about me? Its really a shame too, because I liked that place! Now I frequent the doughnut shop next door. They have good coffee, and they keep everyone’s dirty laundry to themselves.

Im looking to move out of Orange county. Looked at this place on Unilocal.Its an very nice place. The man helped me navigate arou d the city.

The staff are friendly, the drinks are delicious, and this is a perfect place to hang with a friend, get some work done, or even conduct a casual meeting.
Keep in mind that they only accept cash, but I think the rest totally outweighs that little detail.

Cute design! Nice and cozy place to get some work done. Ordered Pumpkin Latte was too sweet and not enough Pumpkin flavor. Ordered the Croissant Tuna for food. Not the best but not the worst. It was a filling Tuna Sandwich without much flavoring. Standard, no frills. Probably just stick to regular coffee next time. They have beer too and can make Micheladas. Again, nice décor

I am always a fan of places that have their own creations to be enjoyed. Birdcage coffee house not only has that, but a wonderful atmosphere to go with it. I challenge anyone to order their favorite coffee drink here and find that they DON’T love it.
I personally gauge my take on a coffee shop by their Hazlenut Latte. Birdcage makes a delicious one!

Really liked the atmosphere of this coffee house. Their decorations make you feel like you’re in a tropical place. Very chill. The plants are overgrown and taking over the establishment’s walls as well as hanging overhead. Painted lizard decorations are also hung all over the place. The patio is my favorite spot especially because it’s shady. It’s even better when you feel that nice breeze. Really good spot to people watch even though that street doesn’t get a lot of traffic. Kinda disappointed because I thought there would be actual birds in birdcages in the patio haha. That would be a nice touch although there was a bird that flew into the shop and was stuck there. As for the coffee… I would say there’s nothing special about the cold coffee macchiato that I got. Nothing special about service as well. The person who took care of us (which I believe who is the owner), wasn’t super friendly with us. He just took care of our orders and made very little small talk.
