For me, an idea works when the people that work there commit themselves to the mission. 5000 pies has an excellent mission which is executed by excellent people to deliver excellent food. the mission is «to transform the lives of young adults in West Long Beach through culinary employment and life skills coaching.» It is joyous to enter here. People are friendly. The food is inventive and delicious. Really, a peanut butter bacon and jelly sandwich? It’s a take-away dining as there is no sitting area. Call ahead for the deep-dish. The idea is unique not just in mission, but food offering. This is first time that I seen a restaurant offer fresh baked goods as well as from scratch pizza. you’re either a bakery or pizza joint, but here get the sweet and savory pie.

I personally have not been here and I am not really a fan of pies. 5000 Pies will probably change that when I do check this place out! My sister goes to Cabrillo so every time I pick her up, I always tell her to buy me their cookies and buffalo fries! Cookies are always freshly baked! On a sweeter side, but they’re perfect! As for the buffalo fries, the size of it has gotten smaller but price stayed the same. Besides that, it’s still pretty good! I should stop by next time and try their hand pies!

Been here 2 times and it’s so good! I get the deep dish pizza and it’s the best in the city. I recently tried the fries with chicken/buffalo sauce and they were AMAZING! I want to go back just for those fries. They melt in your mouth and the Flavors are delicious. Must try this place! Great customer service.

Yep! This place is legit. Being transplants from Chicago, we have always been on the quest for a good local deep dish«Chicago Style» pizza. We usually have to drive up to Echo Park for Masa’s. But now we can stay in Long Beach! We had their spinach deep dish pizza. It did not disappoint! Their crust is amazing, the ingredients perfectly cooked, excellent sauce too. A home run! Right up there with the Chicago staples. I would call it a cross between Lou Malnati’s and Giordanos. We will go again. One tip, go after school has let out, the Cabrillo kids swarm this place too.

Buttery crust. Abundant mozzarella. Tasty sausage. And fresh mushroom and crushed tomato. A total WIN for a deep dish pizza!!! This pizza from such a small humble place tasted better than some hyped pizzerias in DTLA… or even Chicago(gasp!). The place is quite small, with a couple side benches and one small table. It’s definitely more for take-out. After 2:30pm on weekdays, the place is packed with high school students from across the street. They offer these kids a pizza slice special that’s not on the menu, and I thought that was super sweet. Will come back for more deep dish and their dessert pies :)

The pizza is great, the kids are friendly, and the mission of this restaurant is truly inspiring. I wish there were more places like this around town. The world would be a better place.

Was looking for an alternate pizza joint, tired of the Donimos & Pizza hut stuff. Buono’s is okay but had too many bad experiences with delivery. Ran into 5000 Pies on Unilocal, did my due diligence and went in on an order. They have deep dish pizza, how can I go wrong? Ordered the medium spinach deep dish, one small personal cheese and one personal pepperoni, and the deep-fried pbjbb(peanut butter and jelly with banana & bacon) for dessert. Spoke with Wilson(?) very nice fella on the phone. Says to order 45 min early on the website, and he reiterated that. I was okay with that because I was sure the kids would be hungry around 6pm anyways… they even called and made a courtesy call to let me know they were going to be a little late(it’s friday, understandable). Pies got here, was all warm and ready to eat. Its a legit deep dish, and the pesonal pizzas were just right(maybe a little bit more love on the pepperoni) This pbjbb was extremely good(limit one ¼ piece per month lol). I had no idea they were here, and a year already. Don’t ever leave the west side of Long Beach 5000 Pies!

A Little bite of Chicago in little olé Long Beach!!! I read a review about them running out of dough. That actually made me go because it means that the dough is made daily. I ordered a spicy personal deep dish pizza. Upon my first bite I thought of UNOs in Chicago. The crust has a crunchy almost cornmeal bite. The sauce has the spicy yet tangy kick. It simply melts in mouth. The best deep dish in LA County. I really like the fact the business gives back to the community by providing culinary skills, customer service and good energy back to da LBC. Good job Tamika

I love their food it tastes great… But it took them nearly 90 minutes to deliver our cold food. Sadly, might be the last time we eat here.

Ordered the following: personal deep dish pizza — spicy personal deep dish pizza — mushroom, pepperoni, sausage chipotle maple wings fries Pros — I LOVED that they waited to fry my french fries upon my arrival — Wings are BOMB, perfect amount of flour/crunchiness and flavoring… yummy! — My boyfriend loved the mushroom/pepperoni/sausage deep dish — Decent prices Cons — The fries were soggy when I got home, probably needed to be fried longer in the oil(not sure if they felt rush cause I was waiting there). I retoasted the fried when I got home to make it crunchy again. — My spicy specialty personal deep dish was overwhelming with the flavors… not what I expected or liked haha Overall, I would go back and get a deep dish with only a few toppings and MOREWINGS! :)

Atmosphere: very very small shop. Ordered items: pumpkin hand pie and lemon hand pie. *dessert review only* This place is so delicious and the women who helped us was extremely helpful, super bummed I didn’t get her name(I left you a $ 5 tip, you know who you are). The have a small selection but easy to choose what you want. They heated up the pumpkin hand pie up for me and it was a delicious crispy pumpkin pie that melted in your mouth, probably the best pumpkin pie I’ve had since the PSL season began. I honestly don’t remember what the lemon hand pie tasted like I just had a mouse sized bite and it was devoured by the person who ordered it. I can’t not wait to go back and try more hand pies and maybe next time a pizza!

First time there and let me say definitely will be back. Called in the order because one of the items was the spicy pan pizza. It was delicious. Great crust, inverted with cheese, than toppings, with sauce on top. For someone who likes it really hot, the spice was not over the top. It was just right. We also enjoyed the Hawaiian pizza with spam. A great crust also, maybe will ask for extra spam next time, but definitely tasty. Finished it off with cookies and a small lemon pie. Everything was superior. Serve was great with a helpful staff. Run by a local church, simply THEBEST pizza in west Long Beach. Maybe all Long Beach.

Social Enterprises are my favorite. They are providing a service to the community, skills to community members, and offering up a product to everyone — 5000 Pies is social enterprise at its finest. That’s why they are 5 stars! Wonderful food — I mean, how can you go wrong with pizza, dessert pies, and cookies? And to top it off great salads? All at a low affordable cost. Even if I looked at 5000 Pies at your every day for profit pizza place they’d still have high rankings as the food was really good and SUPER affordable. Just a little storefront, 5000 pies is located on Santa Fe west of Pacific. We walked in so that we could check out the product before ordering but I feel comfortable calling in an order next time. We had just a regular large pizza — didn’t have time to wait for deep dish this time. The pizza was excellent. Chose our own veggie toppings. Accompanied by a built it yourself salad with all the fixings that I love and this was a seriously good meal. Also got a triple berry hand pie that I have yet to try and chocolate peanut butter chip cookies — really good as well. I’d like to try the deep dish and some of the other cookies — but we were there at the end of the day and those were the only cookies they had left. I also read about chocolate pecan pie and the thought makes my stomach yell — «GETINME.» I’m not sure who was saying this place isn’t cheap — I guess in comparison with gross pizza like Little Caesars or something… but it was only $ 14 for a large pizza! We are used to paying much much more! Love this place — what they stand for and what they are serving.

Not sure, where to begin. But let’s start with the obvious. The banana cream pie was amazing. Every inch of it tasted fresh. The cream. The bananas. The toasted coconut. The crust was as flaky as that friend in high school, who over promised and never delivered. The cookie was a good price, fresh out of the oven, and it was rich as all hell. Bling bling, son. I also like that«5000 Pies is a social enterprise of Fountain of Life Covenant Church. Our mission is to transform the lives of young adults in West Long Beach through culinary employment and life skills coaching.» That’s definitely something that’s good for the local community.

Jane H. Ordered the day before and I came to pick up the following day at 11am to end the celebration of nurses week with a Big Bang. What was ordered was 4 large deep dish pizzas, 2 loaded, 2 spinach and a dozen mixed cookies. Our To go order wasn’t quite ready when I got there so I ordered another personal pizza $ 5 with sausage and pineapple and 3 cookies for $ 1.25 One peanut butter, one triple chocolate, and one oatmeal raisin while I waited. Cookies are great, very moist and soft with just the right amount of crunch when buy in to. My favorite was the OATMEALRAISIN which has a thin layer of icing on top of each cookie. TRIPLECHOCOLATE is good too not too sweet and definitely packed with chocolate chips. PEANUTBUTTER is good the peanut butter is not too over powering and you can still taste everything else that’s included in the cookie. I’ll be back to try more dessert. The staff is really helpful and nice but they seem a little disorganized because they forgot to give me my cookies order and the. Later forgot to give me my personal pizza. All pizzas are made to order and the sauce is really good, so is the crust. Not too think and not too thick with just the right amount of crunchy texture. Toppings are fresh and very flavorful. I’ll be back to try more options

Cindy N. and I heard about 5000 Pies from a few great Unilocalers and had it bookmarked for quite some time. I finally had the perfect excuse to load myself in pizza heaven… it’s the last day of Nurse Week and why not celebrate it with PIZZA?! I ordered the night before and Meisha took my order. She was a doll. Super helpful and very patient when I asked her a bunch of questions. I ordered 2 large loaded deep dish pizza and 2 large deep dish pizza with 2 dozen of their mixed cookies. Because of the order, she wasn’t sure if they would have it ready when they open at 11am. She was kind enough to call the boss to get the okay. The order was ready on time and heavy from all that goodness! The smell of the pizza had me salivating! The spinach pizza was my favorite. The tomato sauce was amazing. It was hearty, thick, and chunky. The spinach was perfect. Not wilted at all. The spinach was fresh through and through, even having been baked! The crust is my kind of crust. It was slightly crunchy on the outside, dough-y in the inside and had enough seasoning for that home run. I didn’t stop at one slice! The pizza is huge and fed everyone on the unit with a few taking some home for later. This reminds me more of a gourmet pizza and not your typical cheese and pepperoni pizza. The cookies were a hit. Not a single crumb was left behind! The cookies were perfectly moist and soft and full of flavor. The chocolate chips were my favorite. I could have eaten a whole tray! I am looking forward to ordering and eating in real soon. I am curious about their made to order calzones! Y This place is a great place and helps the community in such a big way. What better way to enjoy some hearty and thick pizza while helping a place that puts love back into their community?! Yum!
