Came here on a Wednesday evening at around 6:20pm and there was no wait for a party of 5. The parking here is TERRIBLE. Thankfully, this man was leaving which allowed us to take his parking spot. I had low expectations of the place regardless of the ratings and reviews here on Unilocal.First off, the inside of the place looks super crappy! It was super tiny and just looked very ghetto. Service was not bad, probably the best thing they had here in my opinion. Servers were great but they did not have a friendly essence. Food wise, we had about almost everything from the happy tummy hour menu and it was just okay. I have gone to other AYCE sushi places that are way better than this. Even have gone to places that are non AYCE that are better than this. Their fish quality was okay, but it did not taste fresh. Aside from that, some of their rolls tasted really mushy and just meh. You could barely taste the fish in any of the rolls. Perhaps I just came on a bad day, or I have eaten sushi at way too many places, but I know for sure I would definitely not come back here. Oh, and as for the chicken karaage, it was terrible. It was about the quality of something like popcorn chicken from Tastea or just some local boba place. Chicken was so dry, it felt like the sahara desert. Two stars because it was decent and not completely terrible. But wow I would never come back.

Came here for the happy hour specials, you just can’t beat the prices and the sushi is great. Definitely worth it, this is going to be my new weekend spot. Happy Hour is from 3pm to 7pm everyday, with rolls offered on the 5 dollar, 6 dollar, and 8 dollar menus. Parking is in the back.

I am not familiar with Long Beach but was in the area and found this place on Unilocal.I based my going there on the fact it had so many positive reviews. I was really let down. I was disappointed with the food, the background music, and the way the place looked overall. The staff was very polite. But the sushi rice was not seasoned well. The tamago(egg) was cold and rubbery(it looked fake). The ikura was inedible — cold and cloudy, with a bad taste. The uni was actually good. I really want to give this place a better review, but I can’t. Later, I delved into reading other negative reviews, and I have to agree with them. To those who call this the best place for sushi in all of Long Beach … you ain’t right.

While visiting the LB area, my friend told me that 39 degrees is the place to go for sushi. I’m a huge sushi lover, so I am always up to try a new place. I will say, I definitely was not disappointed. I opted to not go for the sushi happy hour, only because I prefer a less crowded atmosphere. I got there around 7:30 and the restaurant was fairly busy. I was seated immediately at the bar, which I was okay with because I enjoy watching sushi being made. The service was fantastic and everything came out in a timely manner. I ended up spending around $ 30, which included a salad, two rolls, and a side of rice. Such a good price and for such high quality food. Also had tons left over. I will definitely be back if I’m ever in this part of town again.

This place is one of my go-to sushi spots. Their«happy-tummy» hours run Monday-Saturday from 3 – 7PM and has some pretty decent deals. I usually leave pretty satisfied, but I do have some constructive criticism as well as some advice for for sushi lovers. Their spicy tuna is often a bit too bitter for my taste and can be somewhat tasteless. Other than that, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Came by for Happy Tummy Hour with a friend around 3pm(hours?) and decided to try the $ 35 deal, which included 3 dishes from the $ 6 menu, and 3 from the $ 7 menu($ 4 discount). Have to say that the portions are fairly decent. The slices of salmon and tuna for the sushi negiri were nice and thick and completely covered the mounds of rice. We also tried some of the deep fried rolls(Lynn roll and the Fantastic roll) were lightly battered and fried golden brown. All that and a $ 11 pitcher of Sapporo to wash it all down. Service was good, as there were only 3 – 4 other tables during that slow time. Definitely will make a point to stop by again there for happy hour again. Tummy was definitely happy that day!

I’m always the first one to admit I don’t know much about sushi or rolls — knowledge of that cuisine is definitely not my forte. So my judgment can be questionable when we’re talking sushi, but I think this place speaks for itself. Not to mention, I may lack the knowledge but my taste senses are well in tact, and they say 39 Degrees was a hit. I can’t comment on the happy hour as everything seems to mention, but knowing how good this place I’m going to have to pay this place another visit specifically for that time of day. Everything I had was fresh tasting, creative, and flavorful. I can’t remember the roll I had, but it was by far the most colorful and creative thing I tried that night. Mango and jalapeño combining in a roll is something I could have never imagined. I also had a hand roll that was nothing to overlook, but it took a back seat to that mango topped roll. Overall, it was a great birthday meal(I get urges to eat sushi on my special day). It wasn’t extravagant, instead I opted for simplicity without sacrificing on quality. Simply put, I think 39 Degrees delivered on that. Had it’s interior been on the swanky side, it could have easily given me reason to go with five stars.

There was a small wait outside as I pulled into the parking lot. Luckily, I found a spot right away since someone was leaving. My date went ahead and put in our names, and we were seated fairly quickly. We ordered a bunch of different things, and all were enjoyable. We had yellow fin with some soy-based sauce and crispy onion pieces, a sashimi sampler, and two rolls — a dragon roll with tempura shrimp, and another with soy paper. To be honest, I was paying more attention to my date than the food, but I liked everything I ate. The dragon roll pieces were a little too large, however, and they made for messy eating. The sashimi was fresh enough. I would totally come back and eat here again.

We came in for Happy hour and ordered 5 rolls, 2 non alcoholic drinks, and a salad and only had to pay about $ 50. Not bad at all! Our favorites were the Fantastic roll, the Snow White, and the Firecracker roll. We also got the Sunrise on Second, and the Spicy girl. They were okay but I’d much rather have any of the other three again. The calamari salad was good but very small. The servers were very attentive and easy to work with. I will definitely try to come back soon to try their other rolls and desserts.

Service was great, but I went on a Wednesday around 3, so it wasn’t busy. We ordered two things off their must try menu: Calamari– served as all long squid legs(my favorite part) and a nice habanero dip(almost like a ranch, not spicy to me) I would recommend if you like chewy calamari.(It’s not that crispy). Albacore sashimi– had ponzu and chili sauce(which caught be my attention) the fried onion was on top of side salad. It was good. Salmon nigiri is basically $ 5 for two pieces. But the pieces are very good, and very fat! The rice under was small(but I’m not complaining). I would recommend. Lastly, we ordered one roll. The tsunami roll– spicy tuna(inside), albacore and raw red onion(outside) it was just okay. I wouldn’t recommend. For dessert, the fried green tea tempura was mediocre. It wasn’t freshly fried, nor crispy. I would still recommend to check this place out! Seems like it has a lot to offer. Enjoy(;

Great sushi and great service. This location is owned by the same guys who have I Luv Sushi, and the rules are all the same: delicious! This isn’t the best sushi in the world, but still great at an affordable price. Consider this place for a casual date or dinner with friends, rather than a big anniversary spot. Make reservations if you’re coming on the weekend. Happy hour is a good deal too. My friend Mandy who is a dietician enjoyed it here too, so that’s saying something ;-)

This place makes my belly happy lol. We came during the Happy Tummy Hour and got the«pick 614». This is where you can pick 3 items from the $ 6 menu and 3 items from true $ 8 menu for $ 40. Also has some hot sake. Everything was very tasty and the staff are courteous, friendly, and super quick with preparing the food. Definitely come here. Oh, and order the Sexy Girl! Update: Brian is my favorite sushi guy and I love him #mancrush haha

Me and my lady came here for dinner tonight, due to the reviews this seemed to be the right choice. We did enjoy it and the service was great but the sushi in comparisons to some other places we had been was. not comparable. 1– the enviromment was simple and they have this pretty funny statue of a sumo man lol… if you sit in front of him it’s like he is watching you. It’s more of a date night restaurant not much of a family places. 2– the service was great, very attentive a d helpful. 3– the food was a bit over priced and small, I would of hoped for more and then we also ordered an apatizer and indifferent from the photo on the menu.. they were very very small for the price. some of the sushi was good but … I have gone other places alike saket 2me sushi a d got a much better bang for my buck.

Maybe the best sushi I’ve had in a very long time. Flavors were on point, everything tasted, fresh, and the HH prices were really good. We paid $ 40 for the«pick 614» option, and it was seriously enough for 3 – 4 people. My girlfriend and I could not eat all of the amazing sushi that wee were served. Want to come here everytime I’m in long beach.

Unilocal’s Top 100 — 2016, so I had to bookmark it and go! Got there early for Happy Tummy Hour… it filled up quick. Just because there was a deal, didn’t mean they held back on the quality. 4 stars for the Sushi(congrats!) and another star for feeding 3 big dudes on $ 40! Nice work!

Dinner tonight during happy hour. The rolls and all food was excellent. Fresh and yummy tasting. The happy hour specials have now gone up from $ 25 now to 35 – 40 $ after 3 years from my original review. The food is excellent and this place is so good, they can get it. The restaurant will give you a free ice cream for your review on Unilocal!Thanks for my green tea ice cream!

Seriously this place is legit when it comes to good fish. We ended up here when our ramen place wasn’t open — which ended up being a good thing cause this place was delicious! The selections were great for all kinds of sushi rollers or sashimi lovers. The fish was fresh and the sauces and seasonings were perfectly flavored and not overbearing on the fish. Their service is awesome and their staff are super friendly. The bar is comfy and not cramped to sit at either. Recommendations: — The poke tacos were super yummy! Get them and then thank me for the suggestion. — Rain Roll with Ono was amazing. — Lynn Roll was also absolutely lovely Parking is a bit of a hit or miss considering how small the little lot is.
