Good products terrible customer service !!! Read my check in at second street optique, that was meant for this business. They made us check in for a gift with purchase… And since I don’t do checkins or reviews much, I left it up to the rude girl that works there to show me how to check in here… Anyhow … You’ll have to see my other checkin for what I experienced.

When you come here make sure you ask for Jackie! Very kind and knowledgeable about all products. Had no idea what I was looking for and she helped me out with everything I needed :)

After many years of getting blonde highlights, my hair was beyond fried. I had several pieces that had broken off and without product and hot tools my hair was a frizzy mess. Enter Dionne — hair magician. She took over an hour to consult with me and truly listened to what I wanted. Cutting off the broken parts and starting over was off the table, and remaining blonde was non-​negotiable. Dionne suggested I add darker pieces to enhance the blonde I already had, and to help rehab my frizzed mess. She also suggested Hair Tru pills, which assist with growth. It seemed like a dramatic change and I was worried at first, but after everything was said and done, I love my hair now more than I have in years. Dionne is completely honest with what is and isn’t possible; the girl tells it like it is. She is extremely intuitive about what will complement your face and skin tone. My bf loved my hair so much he went to Dionne too, and she is just as talented cutting men’s hair as women’s. It is miraculous she hasn’t been snapped up by some celebrity entourage yet. Her prices are suuuuper reasonable and she is worth every penny. If I ever move I will have to fly back here so I can see Dionne… customer for life.

I like the attentive staff and good products. Love the bonus programs! and special days of beauty. I miss the location on 7^th and Bellflower.

I got my hair done about a week ago with her and she is more than amazing! It was my first time dying my hair and I went in there a little nervous because I didn’t know what to expect! I wanted a balayage and a cut and she did exactly what I wanted and even added some things and made it better than what i had imagined it to be! She is a color expert and the color that she put in my hair is the nicest golden brown mixed with some lighter shades! I was there for a while but she made the time go by fast because beyond being a hair perfectionist, she is also the coolest stylist ever! Overall I was very happy with my hair and I will come back to her when I want to get another cut or add more color! I wish I could give her a 10 star review because she totally deserves it!

Good size store right in the middle of the action. Good selection, nice employees. My friend and I stopped here on a weekend road trip along the coast.

Been coming here for fifteen years and never a bad experience. Helpful salespeople and top-​shelf products. I looooove this local business!

This review is for Carlie.
She was absolutely amazing! I have naturally curly (and thin) hair and I’ve had the same cut and style forever. I’ve tried to change it up in the past but the results have been either lackluster, disappointing or disastrous. When I sat down with Carlie I had bad layers and lots of little grey’s which i wanted to hide. She suggested a cut that would make the layers more natural and highlights that would give the appearance of my hair being more voluminous at the roots and also hide the gray’s in a way that wouldn’t require coming back every 6 weeks for a touch up. This was appreciated because I’m terrible at getting into salons on a regular basis so I needed a color that would last me a while. I was also impressed by this suggestion because I’ve found most stylists probably want to give you color that requires more maintenance = more money for them.
I am so thrilled with the results and now have a pep in my step thanks to my new ‘do! And I’m super thankful to Carlie for giving me a color and style that I love but and that save me time and money. Every time I come to California I’m scheduling the trip around a visit to see her!

Got my hair cut by Carlie… I’m picky with my long black hair and she nailed the trim! I highly recommend this place and getting hair done by Carlie! Will definitely come back!

Very disappointed in 2^nd Street Beauty, and you have just lost my business. I have been shopping here since the day they have opened. I attend there beauty days and usually like going in to browse for anything new that I might need. I like to shop locally owned especially since I am a small business owner in the Shore. I purchased a bare minerals powder, I have tried it a few times and its just not my match. I asked to exchange it and they said NO because it was past my return date on the receipt. Do you not realize all of the competition you have out there from the drug stores to ultra and Sephora. Shame on you!!!

This location was a complete disappointment. First of all, the website says that they carry an flat iron for a brand and when I get there, they don’t carry it anymore. The tips and advice for other brands were helpful, no doubt about that. When purchasing, the sales associate got mixed up and was going to add a product I didn’t ask for (it happens). Before I chose a flat iron, she showed me one and it was all tangled so she went to the back to grab a «new one». I pay $ 163 for a flat iron; that’s a lot since I’ve never invested in a hair product. I check online and see all the other places to buy flat irons and I found the exact same one for the exact same brand almost 70 bucks less. Definitely a rip off. Maybe because it’s Belmont Shore and everything is more expensive near the beach. I go home so I can try out the product and when I open it, there’s no wrapping around the flat iron and the cord was all tangled. To say the least, even the plates on the flat iron were broken. Both plates were dangling off like it had been cracked. Immediately I was frustrated and angered for the incompetency of the store. Why would they keep a damaged flat iron in the back? I should have checked before I took it out of the store, but I trusted them. Not only should you not trust them because they don’t separate their brand new items with their damaged, but they don’t have the decency to tell you that there’s no returning. Only exchanging or store credit. Unbelievable.

Carlie is the first (probably ever) stylist to make me feel wonderful about my hair! Her passion for hair is obvious and she knows exactly what she’s doing. I highly recommend her and will definitely be going back.

Jean is the best! She’s an amazing hairdresser and sweet person. I’ve been going to her for a couple years now and I’m always pleased with my haircut. She listens to what I want, and truly cares about me being happy with her service. You can tell right away that she has a lot of experience and is very talented at what she does. I highly recommend Jean!

OMG I wasn’t actually expecting much going in, however, they have a decent selection of items and the customer service was fantastic here. I left some foundation at home not that I felt that I needed it, however, got a perfect color match to take home.

Carlie did my highlights and cut… It was amazing!!! She’s courteous, fast, and does an amazing job! I’ll be coming back!

I always get my hair supply here– the prices are much better than any other beauty supply store. But make sure you know what you’re looking for before walking in (particularly regarding color and bleach and such) because the girls working there know very little about the products carried

2^nd Street Beauty more than made up for not letting me return the polish in the first place. Definitely good customer service, and everyone working there is extremely nice.

I went here for the first time yesterday for the 20% sale… OMG…such a great store! They have everything I love! Man even Dermalogica was on sale and that’s NEVER EVER on sale anywhere. There was also a great deal going on if you spent over $ 75, you receive$ 20 in beauty bucks on your next purchase.
So onto the merchandise, they have hair products including Devacurl– my personal fave for curls, high end makeup like Smashbox and Too Faced, as well as great skincare lines like Murad and Dermalogica. The sales associates were very knowledgeable, and attentive to my questions. I will definitely be back here!

After my last stylist mysteriously vanished, I had to find someone new. I went to Groupon and looked up every hairstylist behind the deals. I was so relieved when I found Carlie! I bought a full head of highlights + cut. My last stylist was amazing so I was definitely nervous about the highlights!
My hair looks AMAZING. My roots aren’t showing anymore and the cut is EXACTLY what I wanted (and I’m pretty picky when it comes to my hair!) Though I promised myself I’d shop around for a new stylist, Carlie won me over. And. She promised she’s not going to mysteriously vanish on me.
Carlie is definitely a keeper! my hair!!!
