The location is nice. It’s not really for me, so I can’t say much. We buy my boyfriend’s beard items from here. When we first started shopping here the sales lady was extremely helpful and helped us find exactly the product we were looking for. In addition the products smell great and he’s satisfied with the results!

My appointment has been canceled on twice. The first time I can understand the barber was out and couldn’t make it. This most recent time was extremely frustrating. Another gentleman who made his appointment for two, for a different day, was given my timeslot. I was told by the agent that it would not be fair to have him drive all the way down and not give him the appointment. Although, she said he was mistaken and actually booked on the wrong day. I will never go back to the Art of Shaving and I will stick to my local barber. Here are some unfortunate facts about me specifically. This was a gift from my son. My five-year-old son gave me a Christmas present of a shave and a beard trim. that’s really sweet of him isn’t it? He asks me almost daily when I’m going to get it done. This location, which is the only one that does shaves is 38 miles/53 minutes from my home. That means I drove 76 miles and wasted two hours each time. For a total of 156 miles in four hours. Horrible customer service in a shop that is continually closing the barber function. Support your local barber insread of this autrocity of a business. –A disappointed dad with a shaggy beard

Over priced and overly aggressive sales staff. I got a shave set from these guys as a gift, and the overpriced brush(Muhle) was constantly shedding multiple hairs every shave, so I took it back for a replacement. The new one does the same thing and these guys are over an hour away so I just said screw it and let the brush shed the day away every morning. But these guys have only a handful of shave brushes, and why they choose to keep this junk in stock is beyond me. Also, while I was in there returning the fancy looking piece of garbage, I saw some of the most heavy handed selling I’ve ever seen in a store. Another interesting note is that the silver tip version(a much better quality grade) of the same brush is available on Amazon for much cheaper than their inferior version.

Like clockwork, every 3 weeks I head in to have Frank cut my hair. Yep, it is a $ 40 cut and I don’t have much hair, but the ambiance and conversation is well worth it for me — Frank does a great job. Our conversations range from politics, to cars, to well, every damn thing under the sun. For a gift, I had Frank do the Royal Shave. It was like treating my face to a spa day. Some people say their products are over priced and maybe they are. To those I say stick to canned cream and Old Spice aftershave. I have been using their shaving cream, face scrub, and pre-shave oil for years. I recently made the switch to a safety razor and was pretty nervous, but the sales people spent a lot of time explaining the process. I suggest buying your replacement blades from Amazon where you get a million for a few dollars. Are there better products at lower prices? Sure. Can you head to the local barber and get a good haircut? Sure. For me it has to do with the overall experience, nice people, and products which work well. See you in 3 weeks Frank!

Came here recently for a beard trim and shave with the whole package and it was about $ 55 plus tip. I truly enjoyed my shave and loved what he did with my scraggly beard and thought the barber was very congenial. Tried to make a follow up appt to get my beard trimmed again. No fluff or shave this time, but just the trim. They said they don’t do that, that it has to be the whole«basic» shave for $ 35. Sure, that’s great, but I just need some hair on my face trimmed and I’m not paying $ 35 for that. It’s truly a shame because I had planned on making this my new barber where I’d come in monthly for my haircut and beard trim. Not willing to pay $ 75 for that privilege.

The art of shaving is pretty weak on content and high on Markup. I mean a 10 pack of Merkur DE blades $ 20 !!! Um I just bought 100 feathers for $ 40. The clerk had never heard of feather blades and he is working in a specialty shaving store !!! I can tell you this much… I’ll stick with west coast shaving.

OK, I have to start by admitting I was hesitant to stop into The Art of Shaving. I would pass by and think of it as one of those places where you can just go in to look around and be absolutely pestered by employees trying to up-sell you. I was wrong! And yes, I feel bad for judging. I’ve been meaning to get into«real shaving», meaning shaving soap, not cream in a can, a brush to lather, and a safety razor. You know, the«man shave». The Art of Shaving specializes in such, so I finally stopped in. I told the gentleman working there I was looking to get started-he first led me to their big standard kit with pre-shave oil, cream, and post-shave balm. It wasn’t cheap… and to his credit, he showed me their travel kit, which lasts three months and is a good deal cheaper. He let me know it was a good place to start. So I went with the travel kit which included the aforementioned items, plus a starter brush. If you use a brush, it’s important to use a stand to dry it upside down to keep it’s shape-so I asked which stands they offered. Again, he showed me a stainless steel stand that was around $ 50, but then right away said«But we also have these plastic stands for $ 5.» So I took one of those as well. I’ve been very happy with my products-I ordered a safety razor online instead of here, but everything else has been well worth it. if you’re looking to step up you’re shaving, look no further-the staff here is great and they’ll set you right up without over selling you!

This was the second time to this store. My first was visit was purely out of curiosity and got a carry on kit in Sandalwood. Each time I have been in there, I learn something new on shaving or pre-shaving. Ruth is great in teaching the inexperienced shavers to the stores product. Hop right of out the shower, put on some pre-shave oil, then use a wet badger brush with a little bit of shaving cream(yep, you put badger bum hair on your face) shave and then pat your face dry and then splash on after shave. Go with the grain and if you want round 2 against the grain. I usually only shave once and it super super smooth. I would have to say that the store can be kind of expensive overall, but I am lucky in that aspect because I only shave once a week. The small carry on lasts me a year, but a frequent shaver might only be a few weeks. Soon to test out their barber that is on site
