I’ll keep this short and sweet. The meat is delicious but if you’re looking for a healthy helping of meat, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. VERYEXPENSIVE, to the point it’s not even worth it.

Mr Steer has been a popular and respected establishment for years. The reason for this consistent admiration is the singular high quality of meats and poultry offered. Also worth note is the variety of backup items offered ie, side dishes on shelves and refrigerators, as well as fresh vegetables. I am now officially a loyalist to the fruity, flavorful olive oil and balsamic on tap. Here I can buy fresh olive oil in the small quantities I prefer and refill each few months. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. When the lines get long, they may sacrifice smiles for speed, but that is the best customer service.

I have never had a bad cut of meat or poultry from here. Staff has always been accommodating to me when I shop. We tend to buy in bulk so it’s a good size order. Tips are great and the homemade sausage has been very good. I have had custom orders and they were never an issue. The prices do seem high to me but I haven’t found anyplace that is as good. Yes I tried that other store in Salem people talk about. I won’t name here. 2 things keep this out of 5 stars — prices and that &@&$ parking lot…

Great place with fresh food and delicious marinades on their wide variety of meats, but they need to raise their standards in terms of their employees. Low-class(swearing while working), slow-moving, and all-around rude people.

I wouldn’t buy steak tips any other place than at Mr. Steer; they are fantastic. Yes, you can pay a bit less in a supermarket but the quality will not be anywhere as good as Mr. Steer tips. The service is outstanding and the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable.

They get four not five stars as some of the pricing seems a bit too high. Otherwise the meats are really good here. The staff is friendly and helpful and everything is kept very clean. The owner is the most knowledgeable and always willing to take the extra steps for you. If you need some good meat for a special occasion this is the place.

Love the place. Prices are reasonable for comparable meats at other shops. Staff is helpful and friendly. I go at least a couple of times a month and have never been disappointed.

I use to shop here often, sense they have changed location to a terrible location it is never busy when i go, I got my family some steak tips and chicken, the tips were very chewy and we could not eat the chicken, it did not taste right at all, I called to let them no something might be wrong with the chicken and they told me if I wanted my money back that i would have to bring it in. I was not looking for that i just wanted them to be safe, very very very rude. I ended up bringing my meat back and they offered to give me more meat, why would I want the same meat that was old 3 hours ago? The guy would not even make eye contact with me, he just talked under his voice like he was better then everyone else. I will never shop here agian, for the price I now buy my meat at Hanafords supermarket down the road so i don’t have to worry about getting sick there, My friends have told me that this has been going on and I didnt believe it till it happe to me. IF you shop here during slow times GOODLUCK

I disagree with one of these reviews — yes, do go out of your way! This place is fantastic, although I haven’t been back since they moved to their new location. I’m probably going back up there in Sept. /Oct. When I lived in Litchfield, I would visit this place year round. There aren’t many, if any, butcher stores like this in New England. This place is one of the things I miss since moving back down to MA. The marinated steak tips and chicken are fantastic. Almost every year we take a trip up to this area to do some shopping at Costco, Nashua, pick up about $ 300 of booze at a NH liquor store, and buy some cheap housewares at Wal-Mart, Manchester just in an effort to get to Mr. Steer and take back some fantastic meat morsels for the grill. Remember to bring your coolers with plenty of ice.

They grind their own sirloin, which is a GOOD thing if you know much about processed meat.(A scary topic.) When I’m going to make a pot roast, I buy brisket and they trim it to my order, even remembering how I like it. If you go, say hello to Chris, the owner. He’s one of a few old time butchers in the area.

Mr. Steer Meats has long been a staple for people in the Londonderry area. I grew up in this town and remember eating their pre-marinated steak tips religiously. The were always a small mom and pop type shop, with mostly the normal cuts of beef, chicken, pork, hamburgers, and even more extensive selection such as rarer cuts of lamb and veal. The quality of the meat is exceptional, the steak always tender, pork, never dry, and chicken always flavorful. Not to mention, if you want a crown roast or lamb rack, all you have to do is ask one of the friendly and knowledgeable staff members, all of which i am pretty sure have been there for over 20 years! Recently, the company has moved accross the street to a much bigger location, with much more room to accomodate their vast arsenal of meats, potato salads, home made baked beans and other barbeque must-haves. Unfortunately, they jkept the same size parking lot. I now live in milford, NH, bust still make the 45 minute trek to go get meat from Mr. Steers, where i now the quality will be high and the proce right.

Mr. Steer offers a good variety of marinaded steak, chicken, etc. My personal favorites are the pub wings and any of the deli meat. What’s so great about the cold cuts here? Two words: Boar’s Head. This has to be the best tasting deli meat I’ve ever had(certain grocery stores carry it as well). Of course Mr. Steer is somewhat pricey because anything that isn’t a super market is considered a «specialty» store this day and age. Although the meat comes at a premium that does not guarantee quality; I have had my fair share of steak that is tough as nails. They have a nice new building yet some how they only paved a tiny parking lot that doesn’t nearly accommodate the usual clientele. Worth checking out if you live in the area, but don’t go out of your way.

Oh man, where do I start??? first off let me say that this is my favorite meat shop ever!!! I use to live down the street and purchased the steak tips religiously. They have about 7 different marinaded steak tips and 5 different marinaded chicken breasts. The santa fe tips and chicken scampi are the best. Mr steer is about 45min-1hr drive from Boston, but Worth it!!!
