Great Technical and Automotive Service. Top Smog and Diagnostic Methods too! ***** 5tars!

New to the area and smog testing… came in for a quick turnaround smog test w/​no appt. They accommodated and let me know my coolant reservoir was cracked and leaking. Offered to replace the part when we got a new one. Fast forward two weeks later… we pop in to see how much he would charge and the cost… he changed it out in just a few minutes in the parking lot – free of charge! Bill is a man with integrity! A business man who deserves your business! I have an appt for him to check out a fluid leak in my 2^nd vehicle later this week. He’s my go-​to car guy in the area!

Gave the guy behind the counter my keys, he was processing some other customers, so he called me back up after about 10 minutes He asked for my credit card, I thought it was odd because he wouldn’t know how much to charge me (smog + cert) etc… Guess what. the vehicle was DONE. I did call for an appointment but who does a 10 minutes smog check! This guy does. I was getting my smogs done by that guy (expletive deleted) in Goleta and just tolerated the bad service. Forget that– find a reason to go to Lompoc and let this guy do his stuff. He was courteous, didn’t try to rip me off, had the precision of a military operation. Oh one more thing. that hump in Goleta charges extra because its a diesel truck. This shop didnt charge me more. Bottom line, a diesel truck is less work so why can shops charge more? Because they can. Roberston Gomez is the place to go!!!

I had them do smog check on my pilot, they did it so fast and gave me military discount. Hoorah!

I’m amazed! I took my car in here for them to take a look at my brakes as they were squealing. I’ve had so many dealers, chain repair shops and gas stations try to rip me off on brake repairs that I’m always suspicious. They always tell me (or especially my wife) that «the brakes are unsafe and need major work» to the tune of $ 1,500 or so. R.G. Automotive was not like that: they did only the work that was necessary and my brakes are good for another 75,000 miles and it only cost me $ 250.

Update — Several years later, the service continues to be great. They remind me of the real mechanics of decades ago who fixed a wide range of problems while dispensing sound advice.
I have taken my Mustang Cobra, Mercedes 500sl and ancient Volvo 740 wagon to them for a variety of aliments. Their trouble shooting is excellent. They are not into the all too common replace part, replace another part, replace another part until the problem is resolved. They also listen and take pride in their service. Their pricing is fair.
They make appointments and do not overbook which is great.

When I called I asked if they had Mobil 1, the specified oil for the Mustang Cobra. They did not but had a name brand that’s of equal quality. However, unlike 99% of shops they had no problem with me bringing my own oiil.
I have spend way too many hours inside maintenance and race shops over the years. This is a great operation and highly recommended. I got to watch them tell customers that they were better off taking their car to a dealer for the particular problem.
Nice people, runs with military precision and focus on excellence. Highly recommended No association other than happy customer.

I’ve come here a couple times for smog checks. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and both times they finished with my car in under 15 minutes. Discounts for service members.

I was heading out of town and needed a quick oil change. They changed my oil, checked my tires, checked my fluids and sent me home with a calendar. the staff was very friendly, honest and efficient.

Bill the owner and other people that work there know what they are doing, very knowledgeable, smog, oil change. ect The only problem this place has is the son Josh. He has a real nasty attitude. If he is not careful this can potentially run customers away.

They squeezed me in on a busy Saturday without an appointment for a smog test. They won’t charge you for the test if you fail it, which I thought was pretty cool (but I did pass ha). They were friendly and the young guy working told me a little about the area when he found out I was new in town. I liked that the small waiting area had lots of pictures of local military peeps and even a few thank you notes pinned up and thought it gave the place character.

Had a good experience the year before last took my truck in to get smog and the owners son informs me that my truck is not burning fuel right told me that it was 4 times the legal limit don’t know how he knew that since he did not run the test on it if you really want a got honest shop to have your car or truck serviced take it to Perry’s took my truck to Perry’s and was told it passed so I will definitely be taking my truck back to Perry’s

These are definitely honest people!!! They do good smog work and I have never had a problem with them. It’s good to make an appointment but they may be able to fit you in for a walk in.
