Really nice wines love their petit sirah and Cabernet franc. Mark cargasacchi is really fun guy. Its a plus if u join their wine club. They have BBQ for their wine club members at the pick up party! The tasting room was a little small, but now Mark has opened it up and make it more spacious. Highly recommend this place to wine lovers. Its a hidden gem in the Lompoc wine ghetto. Make sure to call ahead for hours though.

Great music, very friendly service. All their wines are reds but absolutely delicious. Definitely worth a visit. They allow pups, big star for me. Don’t go to palamina next door, come here instead.

I wish I could give this place a review based on their wine, but unfortunately I cant. Because they never showed up. This past weekend my mom and I met in Lompoc to do wine tasting there and in Santa barbara. This place was first on our list. We arrived a little after noon and the place was deserted. I called to confirm their hours and was told by the woman who answered that the owner, who handles the tasting room, was nowhere to be found, did not have a phone and was possibly running late. We should wait for him to arrive, but she had no idea when that would be. She then said she could recommend other wineries we could try instead. Um, thanks but no. I’m not sure how you can run a business this way, but maybe be a bit more responsible? We ended up going to another winery, buying 9 bottles of wine and joining their wine club.

AMAZING! The wines and hospitality are beyond 5 stars! The WINE was beyond exceptional! 5 out 5 were phenomenal! If you can get MARK as your host you are in for a GREAT time! Our wine ghetto experience has been forever changed and the bar has been set with a new high standard! If you are in Lompoc this is a definite MUST!!! GOTOHERE, you will not be disappointed! Thank you! The BEST!!!

A bit left of center and charmingly eccentric in all of the right ways, Jalama Winery tasting room in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto is just the burst of energy and flavor you never knew that you are missing. Not only is wine maker Mark Cargasacchi a warm and gregarious host, the wine is phenomenal. His Jalama Road sourced fruit translates into beautiful Pinot Noirs. The Syrah and Merlot were also excellent, but his bubbles really sealed the deal. I’m happy to receive my first wine club shipment this month! Give this small producer a try, you won’t be sorry.

First off, Jill was so great and really nice to talk to about wines and local places to eat. This place is very small, and can only fit about 6 people at the counter. The rest of the room was very dark, messy and cluttered. The wines were good, though, and that’s what matters the most!

I liked the low key, easy going nature of this place. Mark had his super friendly dogs and good music. It reminded me of wine tasting in Europe w the friendly environment. They make very small batches of their wine. The tasting list varies for this reason. The list did not reflect what they had which worked for me. I was able to find something I liked.

Jalama is a MUST when visiting the Wine Ghetto. Their tasting room is so homey, it feels like hanging out in your friend’s living room. We always pick up a few bottles of our favorite Pinot, Karg, yet all their wines are great.

Jalama Wines is a must see when visiting Lompoc. Mark, owner and winemaker has a fantastic selection of wines and a vast knowledge of wine making in the region. His tasting room is something to experience and is a great accompaniment to his fantastic wine.

Excellent wines, bizarre tasting room. What a better place to have an American Chemical Society meeting than a winery? Especially if that winemaker is a chemist! I can’t rave enough about the quality of the wine and the care put into making it. Save this place for last if you are on a tasting-spree, you’ll regret coming here first. The tasting room reminds me of my garage… it’s a mess. We did the best we could by bringing our own tables and chairs and it turned out just fine. Check out my photos.

As a fellow winemaker I was impressed by the QUALITY of the wines. I was also impressed by the FRIENDLINESS of the WINEMAKER who dedicates his time to POURING and explaining the process. I recommend all my friends head to Jalama!

Mark was super helpful and the wine was delicious. My boyfriend hates white wines and he loved theirs. The décor is cool and I loved the whole ambiance. Very different! I will definitely be visiting again soon!

5 stars for the winemaker who was extremely friendly and helpful, but knocking down one star for the«experience». The wine room was super small and cramped(unlike the others we visited in the ghetto). We did find some amazing reds, although not all of them were for me(I tend to prefer low acidity). Mark was very nice to waive the tasting fee because we had a card for free wine tasting at Joseph Blair, which he is also the winemaker for and was pouring for(it was closed at the time). Definitely worth a visit, but focus on the wines rather than the room.

Absolutely fabulous big, Santa Ynez– /Lompoc-style Pinots and Syrahs are delicious treats at Jalama. The tasting room is a typical«Wine Ghetto» unit, but with the fun feature of wine barrels stacked to the ceiling and a small sitting space for groups. And, speaking of the Ghetto, there are a few other top producers in the same area that could help you spend an entire tasting day without leaving the parking lot! California is the place to be! Be sure to have a word with the wine maker, Mark, and give a good scratch to one of his dogs on the way out, too.

This was our last stop in «The Ghetto» today, but it won’t be our last. They say you save the best for last and that was certainly the case in this case. Even though this one was on our list, we were also recommended by Blair(East Side Ghetto District) that we need to stop in here. Nice little tasting room with a ton of wine casks stacked to the ceiling and spanning from wall to wall. Some cool music in the background and various pieces of eclectic art scattered about. Made me feel right at home. Then I noticed that little tasting table … and when I say little, I mean LOW to the ground. It was so low that I was immediately sent back to my Catholic upbringing and knelt down at the wine altar and began praying for a nice tasting. Of course, my prayers were answered! Actually kneeling at the table seemed to be about the right level for all 6’5 of me. ALL of their wines were fantastic. Just superb. They didn’t have any more of their Reserve Syrah open as it was getting close to 4PM, but the regular Syrah really buckled my knees — maybe that’s why I knelt a second time! The owner was quite amused and he squeezed out a few drops of the reserve for me to taste. It’s didn’t quite do it, but he described the upswing of the reserve over the regular and I just had to get a bottle anyway. I also walked away(no, I paid for it) with a bottle of their El Capitan blend which had a nice creamy cola, and tobacco taste. The nose on it alone had me going for at least 5 – 10 minutes. Well done Mark! As is most of the wineries in the ghetto — there’s lots of great people to meet behind the counters and some good stories shared while tasting some great wines. Many of the tasting rooms offer deals to Unilocal or ____square check-ins, so make sure you check in BEFORE you start your tasting. Note: Although these wines are quite good, I have a hard time giving nearly ANY wine or winery a 5-star rating mainly because I’m a self-admitted wine snob, but this winery and their wines were right on the«mark» … Mark Cargasacchi that is! Cheers to you!

Great wine!!! Great service, couldn’t ask for more! This was probably my favorite place out of the 11 wine stops we made in Solvang, Los Olivos and Lompoc. We stopped by fairly early on Friday, at 11am, just when they were opening. We were a few minutes early but the owner guy(sorry can’t remember his name) was super friendly and started doing pours for us. We were also greeted by Chester and Bango who are just adorable. Bango was a rescue and though he shivers a little, he is very very sweet. Chester also had the prettiest spots and is affectionate as well! The dogs are freakin awesome! The tasting room is quite roomy and large with high ceilings. They have oak barrels lining up against the wall and have a little bar with a rug. With the smell of oak and their wines, it was so so pleasant. My bf and I had to get a bottle of the Moudevre, this was the first time we had seen pure Moudevre. GSM is a commonly used term in the area, it is generally a blend with Grenache, Sauvignon and Moudevre. Moudevre generally is blended with the smallest percentage but this was just phenomenal so we picked up a bottle. I’m still saving it for a chilly wintery night to open it up :) Anyways, a must try!!!

Jalama Wines has an awesome Mourvedre. I admit that it was this particular wine that convinced me to join their wine club. But hey, just about every wine they have has a little personality.
