This place has THEE shittiest and rudest waitresses. The service is incredibly slow even when there is hardly anyone in the restaurant not to mention the dump hole needs a makeover. Will not ever go back to this place until they hire new staff that aren’t old cranky rude gerks!

We always get the best hometown treatment here. Staff is attentive and the food is top-notch. We’ve ate Mexican cuisine up and down the entire State of California, but the place we always come back to? Here! Café San Martin, the best show not only on the central coast, but arguably in California!

I heard this once was a good place for Mexican food and carnitas soup. However upon siting down we were served terrible salsa with the chips which tasted like tomato juice with some vegetables thrown in and served in a styrofoam cup with plastic spoon. We had to leave. Server very friendly, just couldn’t think that if the salsa was bad, what would the rest be like?

I am really surprised at how many negative reviews this place has. I absolutely love Café San Martin. The food is always delicious and the service is always great. The chips and salsa are amazing too. I use to go here all the time with my aunt and we never had 1 bad experience. Yes, it does get busy but that is just a sign that people actually enjoy eating here. I really wish I didn’t move an hour away or else I would be here all the time, haha.

Skip skip skip… $ 30 dollars for what? Taco Bell(as sad as that sounds) is right down the street… Smh

the only items I would recommend is the chips with salsa and the cheese enchiladas. I would stay away from the tacos

I would love to review the food. But I can’t. We were turned away at 7:55 pm but they are open until 9! They told us they were closing. However, walking by later, we saw there were still people there eating after we had eaten at another restaurant. Shame.

Why in the world would the san martin only have one waitress working on Father’s Day? I have been coming to the san martin for over 50 years and have never seen table after table of people leaving in frustration due to lack of service. The one one waitress was overwhelmed by the number of people who she tried to serve! You need staff your restaurant in accordance to the demand of customers on a busy holiday.

Today’s lunch reminded me why I don’t come here anymore. I got the carne asada soft tacos made with«tender seasoned strips of steak». The tortillas were overcooked and hard. The meat was inedible. It was huge tasteless rubbery chunks. Beans and rice were the norm. When the waitress asked if I wanted to take the rest home I told her absolutely not. It was not as described in the menu and barely chewable. She seemed indifferent but apologized. Brought me my check with no discount/modified total. I kindly paid the bill but that was the nail in the coffin. I won’t ever go back.

I like this restaurant. Basic Mexican food as we know it in the USA. No frills. Could use an update. I get what I need here. Servers attentive, welcoming and helpful.

It’s so sad. I grew up in Lompoc and to find a place that I adored go by the way side is tragic. I am speechless and I don’t like writing negative reviews. I imagine the owners don’t even know that Unilocal exist, because if they did this place would be back on the map. Again so sad and tragic.

I just can’t agree with the negative reviews: good food, good prices and some unique menu items. Ever heard of a guacamole tostada before. Service is slow because this place is usually packed! Negative– no carnitas.

I really enjoy the food here. It reminds me of the Mexican restaurants I went to as a child. Anything with their verde sauce us good, but I can always count on green chicken enchiladas. Fast service and good menu options.

I hadn’t been here in probably 7 – 8 years since I moved away. Stopped by again a few days ago. Service was slow, the place needs a face-lift and some deep cleaning. But you can’t beat the deal on Taco Tuesdays and they(tacos) were actually pretty good. Wife and I agreed next time we’ll do take out.

I can tell this place used to be good. Almost all of it is bad though. The water tasted like it came from a swimming pool. Service was horrible. We stood in the waiting area for 5 minutes with just a few customers already seated. The salsa they gave us was a total joke. It was watery, bland, and the ingredients were chopped with a butter knife. Easily the worst salsa I’ve ever had, we were actually laughing at how bad it was. The food tasted pretty decent and I would have given it more stars, but the next morning I felt very sick before eating breakfast. Will not be going here again, I wish I could though. I’m not a negative reviewer, but this place needs a wake up call.
