Norm’s Restaurants

I was traveling for work for 8 months and when I came back I went for breakfast at this Norms. They remodeled the place, but why remodel the food. I had the Lumberjack Breakfast. The meal was totally overcooked. The pancakes were crispy from the edges in, the bacon, even though I like it crispy, was crispy to the point of almost burning so was the sausage, the hashed browns were dry and the fruit was served on the rind. I ate some of it because sending it back would have meant waiting it even longer to get it back than I did to get it.
When I mentioned it to the manager he said I should have sent it back and walked away from me. This used to be a really good place to eat. Guess they had to cut quality to pay foe the new renovations.

I can’t actually believe them giving norms 4 stars. Came with the girlfriend and ordered the sirloin’s breakfast steak with eggs and hashbrowns and pancakes The steak was cooked perfect medium with lots of flavor and a tender cut of meat. I will deathly be returning.

We got here at 11:08 it’s 11:55 now. Still no food. We ordered the basic bigger better breakfast. Oh and last time we were here, I got some nasty curly hair in my Caesars salad. The waiter didn’t even offer us a refund or exchange. Anyway. Let’s wait another 3 hours and see if they are going to bring my food… :/

The filet mignon so nice, they cook it twice! Potatoes so strong you could build yourself a little fort. Shrimp stuffed with whatever the shrimp ate off the ocean floor, somehow packed artfully inside their little intestines. Good ice cubes, no problems there. Lovely staff, with nothing (and I mean nothing) but good intentions. If it’s good enough for dogs, it’s good enough for me. Four stars.

I was here Sunday around 3am with some cousins. My food was cold upon arrival and the server didn’t really check up on us. We had to stare him down from afar to get his attention.

The counter was dirty (sticky), the bathroom was disgusting, and the service was awful. My husband’s coffee was lukewarm — it was sitting there for hours, apparently. The only thing that was decent was the food… and the prices. Can’t complain about that. But they need to put more effort into cleanliness.
As for the «up-​selling» — it’s annoying. If I wanted a loaded baked potato, or soup and salad with my dinner, I would say so. It’s very annoying when the server keeps asking you if you want more and more. I know it’s the management that makes them do that, but honestly.

This place wins the record of the absolute WORST service I have ever witness/​experienced in my life!!! Good lord, I had to call 11 times before getting a hold of anyone and when I finally did they immediately interrupted me and put the phone down to put me on «hold» but really they were talking to other people for 8 minutes straight and completely forgot about me. Then since I’m not able to order through the phone and have to physically be there after 10, which I find idiotic, I finally went there, worst service I have ever seen everyone is so clueless and not helpful at all. I can tell there was no training for any of their positions. It took them 10 min to get to me and let me order to go. I did not even wanna spend a dime on this sh*t hole but my friend asked me to go as a favor and he paid. I wish he saw how horrible this was because he wouldn’t have spent a cent on this. Do not waste your time people, go to Denny’s or go to Trader Joe’s next door and make the food yourself for a lot cheaper, and with out any negative experiences like this.

Prior to today Easter Sunday, I was here Friday the 25^th 2016. Excellent service and food! Today was a total disappointment!
I was seated in a booth where the server was not attentive at all! Sure she went to all her tables smoozing and asking how’s your Easter, but when I was approached, you ready to order? I then ask for the internet password, she said OK I have to drop this food, OK never came back, I then ask her for honey for my coffee, she said OK never came back!
I finally ask for a manager, he came over I explained I wanted to move to a table where the server is friendly and outgoing. He apologize, I move, the next server is no better, I kid you not!
I have been in Restaurant mgmt. And Retail mgmt. For over forty plus years and have taught customer service training. Norms Corp. Do you need me to teach your people basic customer service skills? Without us the customers you make no salary!
My food was good, and I am a food critic! I sat there and just observed the attitudes of the servers, most were like that. My particular server made me feel she didn’t want to serve me! Regardless of your personal opinions, you must treat all patrons equally!
Norms, you may want to send your staff to diversity training quickly, or one day you will find yourselves in court, because of improper diversity training.
I find that the better servers are M-​F.

The food here was good. Big portions but not seasoned at all (nothing a little salt and pepper couldn’t fix). My husbands asked for his steak to be well done and it was a little pink towards one side. Everything warmed up pretty well as leftovers. The only reason why I only gave this place one star was because I used the restroom as soon as I got there and this bathroom smelled like pee and the floor was wet. It kinda smelled like a gas station restroom. It kinda turned me off and I couldn’t enjoy my meal fully. I let an employee know but I never saw anyone ever go to the restroom to clean it. I probably still won’t go back because I couldn’t even go to the restroom.

They have very good steak and shrimp meal.
Gumbo and salad very good and fresh.
Gumbo soup taste delicious
And the reasonable price that we like.
We will come back eat again with no time.
See food combo is very good the price very reasonable. A lot of food for the price. Ruby was a very good server. Appreciated the service.

I am always satisfied, with their service and the food.
The prices are really good and you get a lot of food that most of the time i have to take home with me, but thats awesome. I love the fact that they are always open, HELLO who doesn’t love ²⁴⁄₇ places?
I love coming here for breakfast. For breakfast, it gets so packed here but the wait is not long at all.

Had the worst experience here. My friend and I decided to get something to eat and we decided on Norms. When we entered, were greeted and sat. The waitress said she’ll be right with us… Upon sitting in our seats for possibly 20 minutes, nobody showed. After waiting so long, we just got fed up with it and left. As we were leaving we seen three employees just standing in the back having a conversation.
After leaving, we arrived at Denny’s and had spectacular service.

I’ve been a customer here since it first opened. I used to go to the one on Hawthorne, but because this location is newer, cleaner, and larger, I come here.
The food is diner food. The stakes are moist, tender, and tasty. That’s the reason why we come here!
Daily specials for breakfast lunch and dinner, are available all day and every day.
My personal favorite is the whitefish. I’ll order a soup, if split pea is available. The gumbo seems water down too much! As a side, it comes with steam vegetables and I’ll request a baked potato with butter and sour cream only.
The only bad thing I can really say, is that the service is horrible when they get super busy. Actually, even when it’s not so busy still it’s bad. Depending on where you’re seated, it’s that way. Many times I’ve needed to go to the front, just to refill my drink, ask for containers, or just get my tab.
Otherwise the staff is very friendly and welcoming.

Steak and shrimp dinner at weh hrs of nite. Can’t complain. Better than Denny’s 1000x. Don’t be intimated by weird looking diners at late hrs LOL

We Love Norm’s. So why a one star review?!
We have been going to Mom’s for years and we come here pretty often, about once a week. Two visits in row we had the same server. Her name is Zaira.
She has a terrible attitude. She should not be in the service industry at all. She is mean, never a smile, never a ‘thank you’, never a ‘you’re welcome’. She was also very slow in even coming to our table to take out order.
When my 9 year old wasn’t sure if she wanted bacon or sausage (for all of 20 seconds) she made a face and rolled her eyes.
I like the place and most of the servers are great. Next time, if we get Zaira I will ask fur a different server.

My husband ordered breakfast, & I had lunch (a tuna melt) during our visit to the Lomita Norm’s today. Our mid-​day stop, and meal, was worth reviewing — so here goes:
We were seated immediately upon arrival, by a well dressed and clean cut, very polite young gentleman.
Our server, Alicia, was efficient, helpful, and attentive. Our orders were correct, and the food, delicious! We left full, and satisfied. :-)
The restaurant was not overly busy while we were there — but it also wasn’t void of customers. I noticed that the other customers present seemed relaxed & unencumbered — the atmosphere was pleasant.
The restaurant was clean & nice-​looking, inside and out, (including the parking lot).
We will definitely return in the future, and I happily recommend this Norm’s to my friends.

I grew up eating at Norm’s. Norm’s is the best place for cheap diner food. My favorite things to order is the Bigger Better Breakfast and Chuckwagon Steak and Eggs.
The bigger better breakfast comes with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, ham, and hash browns for less then $ 8 depending on time of day, but its served 24 – 7. The Chuckwagon Steak and eggs comes with hash browns 2 eggs and pancakes or toast which runs around $ 13. The pancakes are always perfectly fluffy and delicious. If I could do a comparison Norms blows Denny’s out of the water. There is plenty of parking and its open 24 – 7 for any of your late night cravings. For the price and quality nothing can beat Norms.

Edited to add: Thursday is the all you can eat ribs day and I’m in love! I got mashed potatoes with country gravy and Ceasar salad and I was one happy camper.

.2. The steak is always cooked to perfection: well done but still juicy and tender. I’ve tried a lot of their soups and I think the split pea is the best. The service is consistently good, even though it gets a little touch and go when it gets busy. They never close so I find myself coming here when I feel like a good meal without breaking the bank. The food is awesome and so is the service. I really like how everything is clean, from the counters to the bathrooms. I will definitely continue to come back!
