Friendly service and great prices even if the place seems a little run down. Had a 2 hot dog combo and a gyro sandwich combo. Fries were actually very good and the gyro seemed like a good portion(though it takes a lot to screw up a gyro). Hot dogs left a bit to be desired. The buns almost seems like wheat buns and were a little stale, definitely not the standard Chicago dog bun. Catastrophic overkill on the celery salt and no pickle spear. The refills on the drinks being .50 is a little silly too. Are we really breaking the bank by getting a refill on a 20oz fountain drink that already costs $ 1.80?

If you’re looking for something cheap and satisfying this is the place to go. Staff is very friendly. Their different sandwiches are damn good and you can always modify what you want on your sandwich and they’ll do it for you. They have the BEST mango shake in town and their beef bacon burger mmmmmmmmmmmmmm sooooo good. 100% Zabiha Halal!!! The place is small so it’s good to go with a few friends, but I usually take out so I can eat comfortably with my family.

Probably one of the worst so called hot dog joints around never been to a place where they toss your hot dog in a microwave

After reading numerous positive reviews and listening to friends rave about this establishment, I decided it was time to give this place a try. Main stop has been a neighborhood icon for many years, though having gone through numerous changes in ownership. One thing however has remained consistent throughout all those years, the utter mediocrity of the food it serves. And unfortunately, this remains true to this day. On my first visit, I decided to dine in and had a cheeseburger meal. It took about 20 minutes for me to order and get my food. That gave me hope, as I thought«hey, they’re making everything fresh.» When the food came out, it seemed anything but. The fries were nice and crisp, but the sandwich was barely warm. Needless to say, I was quite disappointed … A couple of weeks later, I decided to return, thinking maybe my first experience was an isolated incident. I should give the place another try. Everyone deserves a second chance, right? So this time I ordered a hotdog with everything, and a cheeseburger. Nope. You know what’s worse than a cold burger? A cold hotdog. The one thing on the menu that is delicious when served cold? A mango milk shake. At least they got that right.

No frills here. But don’t be fooled they have pretty good food for the price depending on what you get. I hate soy/beef burgers. The texture and taste are always off. Plus gentlemen don’t forget doctors advise soy milk and soy products to women to increase estrogen(female hormone opposite of testosterone). Not a big fan of the home cut fries. If not done properly they become oil sponges. They have great shakes, Polish dogs, etc. Give it a try. Just have reasonable expectations.

Ate here for lunch on Thursday with 4 other guys from work. We all had the hot dogs and everyone of us got food poisoning. Hot dogs and fries were cold and contaminated, never again.

this is a no-frills dive, but with yummy food! It’s zabiha halal, so we could eat everything on the menu, but more importantly, it hits the Chicago street food style on the nose. We got: chill cheese fries — beef and cheese on fries were good, these are your standard shoestrings italian beef — Nice jus, we got it with sweet and spicy peppers as well. beef hot dog — good, what you expect. polish — my favorite, great taste and all the trimmings. kimchi burger — interesting, though I probably wouldn’t get this again. bacon burger — probably my least favorite, but was still fine. It’s a far drive from Chicago, but glad that we gave it a try for the ability to eat authentic Chicago street food that happens to be halal.

I drive past this place pretty often, and recently I heard that this place is Zabiha Halal. So I finally got a chance to go and check this place out. Nice place, small seating area. The staff is friendly and they have there Halal certificate on display by the counter. So I ordered the Italian beef, which was delicious, overall a good experience will definitely come back and try other items on the menu.

First time at this place, seemed tucked away in a rather quiet place. The owners are friendly, the food is on point, but what really screams AMAZING is the sheer prices that other halal fast food chains seem unable to meet. The fries were pretty good, so were the charred grilled chicken burgers and the philly cheese steak sandwich. Definitely coming back.

Halal Certificate on Display. Tried the Polish Beef Hot Dog with the works and it was great. Also had the philly cheesesteak with spicy sauce. Also very good. Fast and Friendly service. Small seating area inside, but it’s more of a take-out place. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Don’t let outward appearances fool you, this spot is worth stopping in. Easily one of the best burgers in the area. The patties are done perfectly with a nice char. The only thing that could use improvement is the bun, which doesn’t have the structural stability to always hold up to everything in the burger, especially if you order the double. For the more adventurous palates looking to mix things up, the kimchi burger has great flavor, with just the right addition of umami and spicy tartness. The fries are also well done with good seasoning and a nice crispiness. Don’t pass this one up.

Main Stop provides fast, friendly services and cheap prices. I loved the small, cozy environment. The menu is small so don’t expect a lot of choices. I ordered the philly cheesesteak sandwich. It was great. The meat was moist and juicy and had the perfect amount of mayonnaise. However, the bread was soggy, there wasn’t enough, amazing gooey melty cheese, and I wish they added some sauteed onions or peppers for that extra kick. Their fries are hand cut and fresh so definitely order them as a side! FYI for Muslim customers, they are zabiha halal! I will definitely come back to try their hot dogs and cheeseburger. All in all, Main Stop is a great place to satisfy your cravings for classic, American artery-clogging greasy food.

Absolutely horrible service. I wish I could leave zero starts. I waited 30 minutes for my food. I could have gone to a real sit down restaurant with a lovely server for the amount of time I spent in this joint waiting on my meal. I finally asked where my food was because people that came in after me were being served before me, along with the 5 cars that were served through the drive-thru. All I ordered was a cheeseburger for myself and a hot dog for my daughter. Simple order, not that hard. Then the cashier was rude to me telling me «WE’VEHADALOTOFORDERS!!!» Well apparently my order was not nearly as important as those other peoples’ orders. Will never come back. Not to mention the dirty tables, sticky floor, and abundance of flies. Disgusting establishment and nasty, rude employees.

I’m writing a review because this place needs more reviews. I ordered a cheeseburger and chili cheese fries. They were out of chili so I ended up with cheese fries instead. Cheeseburger: comes with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, mustard, and ketchup. The patty is really charred. It was delicious. Cheese fries: perfection. A little greasy(in a good way), a little salty, and just cheesy enough. Love this place.

Amazing food Mashallah!!! With so many great looking options, I wasn’t sure what to get so I asked the owner what he recommended. Took his suggestion and got the Philly Cheese Steak. Couldn’t be happier! Was off the hook!

This was my first time eating here! I’ve recently moved to the area and have always driven by. It looks a little weird from the outside. It doesn’t scream«hey we have amazing food here» at all. Just this little hole in the wall restaurant. Let me tell you, looks are totally deceiving! The food was delicious. We ordered a bit of everything, I had a burger. It tasted very char broiled. The fries were super tasty and fresh. Everyone was satisfied with their order. I’m happy with the price I paid for everything. No complaints. If you’re in the mood for something that tastes right off the grill(but don’t want to fire up your own) — this is your place.

For the low prices and and excellent service I have received for the handful of times I stopped by, I say bravo. The food is amazingingly delicious. Zero arguments can be made about this restaurant. I got a hot dog and jumbo all under $ 5, that’s a deal!

Today celebrates two years of being on Unilocal and posting Unilocal reviews. And for my two year anniversary I thought I’d review a place that’s both new and old at the same time. Main Stop in Lombard. Now you’re probably looking at this listing and seeing that(as of this writing) «How can this place be old? This is the only review here». Well that’s an excellent question, for many years this place was called«Main Stop» then some years ago its name changed to «Mike’s Hot Dogs» after presumably having been acquired by a guy named Mike. Now having apparently changed ownership yet again it’s back to being called Main Stop again. I reviewed Mike’s Hot Dogs a while back and found the hot dog to be okay and the burger and cheese sticks to be as good as I remembered them. I try not to make my reviews too personal as it generally dilutes the quality of the review a bit if I’m more focused on covering other things besides convenience, quality of product, price and service. For this review I am going to make a slight exception and talk about my history of visiting here. When I was still in high school I had a part time job right by the Glen Ellyn/Lombard border, frequently when working we would order out for dinner and Main Stop was a popular choice. Around that time I started very frequently eating the burgers that were here and quite frankly I was a very big fan of them. As the years went by and I got older, this restaurant changed owners/management quite a few times but the food remained relatively similar with slight differences. The inside has changed as well. From uncomfortable tables bolted into the floor to a brand new tile or linoleum flooring that can be seen today it’s just a bit more accessible. And that brings me to my visit today. When driving down Main Street in Lombard I noticed that the name had changed back to Main Stop and decided once more to stop in. I noticed new people running the restaurant and decided to order the double cheeseburger I’ve had here so many times before, and a hot dog since I technically haven’t reviewed the«Main Stop» hot dog. Let’s go over the hot dog first. The hot dog here came on a soft poppy seed bun. It had a skinless sausage, some nice hot sport peppers, noticeable celery salt and a tomato slice. There was no pickle slice or spear on this hot dog which is a little strange but far from unheard of. The relish was applied a little too liberally and the hot dog could have spent a little longer steaming but beyond those two gripes this was an excellent hot dog, far better than my last visit when it was still called«Mike’s Hot Dogs». The burger here is what I came for and I’m happy to say it’s as good as ever. The double cheeseburger I had came on a kaiser roll style bun without any seeds or crust on top. The beef patties were thin greasy patties with a great grilled taste in it. I’ve often compared this burger to a fantastic back yard burger and that’s exactly what it tastes like. The condiments were well applied though the pickle was a little more sour than I would have liked to compliment the burger. This was a great fast food style burger, it was better than I remembered it. Leaving here nostalgia aside I strongly considered ordering a second burger for the road to take home refrigerate for dinner. I was very pleased to see that despite a change in management the quality here actually seems to have improved a bit and it appears that they’re even open slightly better hours than in previous years(though not on Sundays). Overall I am going to give Main Stop a full five star review as from the two items I had today it’s clear that there aren’t too many fast food eateries with this level of quality. I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
