This place is great. I have an old 1972 Schwinn Colegate and this great staff is always there to fix it

I was biking on the Prairie Path when I got a completely flat tire. Thankfully, a forestry ranger came by and gave me directions to Koslow cycles. After a very annoying walk there, their helpful attitude and no-nonsense demeanor was just what I needed. They got me patched up and back on the trail in no time at all. I am really thankful that, if I had to get a flat, I was lucky enough to do it near their shop. Great people doing great work.

I bought a bike there, I’m thinking ten years ago. But nobody has used it in a while. We took it back today because we want to use it again and needed a bike pump. I asked(called first) if they could check out the tires just to be sure they were still OK. Not only did she do that, but she filled the tires, and checked the gears & brakes. She answered our questions on lights, locks, seat height, & showed us the right way to lock it up. Wow! Not only did they sell us an excellent product that is still in great shape but they went above & beyond in customer service. Everything was reasonably priced as well.

I got a flat on the Western trail and needed to get a new tire for it since my tires were old. Since I live around the corner from this place, I decided to check it out. I went in on a Saturday morning and talked to a woman at the front desk. I explained to her what kind of service I was looking for and to me it seemed like an easy fix. She told me it wouldn’t be ready until middle of next week, but if I wanted to she could give me the supplies I needed and I could fix it myself. I am not a handy person, so this option was a no go for me. The weather was absolutely beautiful and it seemed like a waste not to go out and enjoy it so I called another bike shop in downtown Wheaton. Again, I explained what I needed and they said if I brought it to them today they could fix it in 45 minutes. They did even better than that, they were finished with it within 30 minutes and it cost less than it would at Koslow! I realize it was a holiday weekend, but come on what I was asking for wasn’t something outrageous. I always want to shop local, but if you can’t find a way to accommodate your customers then you probably shouldn’t be in business.

I was looking around for a Christmas gift for my younger brother and was just passing Koslow’s when I remembered his strange bike obsession, so I popped in. You know those people who accessorize their cars to the tenth power? «I’ve got to have chrome windshield wipers and dice shaped air caps for my tires and 24 inch rims and hello kitty floor mats and a Betty Boop steering wheel cover and a brown air freshener!» Apparently there is a market for those weirdos before they can even drive. They call themselves«BMXers.» Koslow’s is certainly the superior choice for those wishing to appease these strange people. Let me first begin with excellent customer service. I galumphed in looking as clueless as I felt and was promptly helped by a lady who spent significant time with me explaining what each accessory and gadget did, what it cost, and why he may or may not like it. She was very knowledgeable about the trends in the BMX world(they have trends!!! LOL) and was able to tell me what color patterns work best with each bike body and what product is hot/not. Aside from the large selection of BMX bikes, there is also a large selection of everything from regular to luxury bikes. They pride themselves in doing quality bike tune-ups and have a large stock of parts for the job. Prices are fairly reasonable and I can say that I didn’t feel terrible about what I ended up spending on my brother that day. I will of course return to Koslow’s for any bike need I may have and I can privately think to myself that my brother thinks my Christmas gift was the best. Who wouldn’t want a blue bike chain with matching brake wire?

I stop here regularly for little odds and ends. They have a large selection of BMX bikes and the stock seems geared towards family/children. Prices are on the lower end for what they sell(relative to other bike shops). It’s a family run store, which is helpful and friendly in my experience. They are the furthest thing from rude! I’ve never bought a bike here, so I can’t comment on that specific experience… but I’ve always enjoyed some light conversation while picking up what I need. To be honest, this is my go to place when I need a part for an older bicycle. Rather than trying to stock the latest and greatest, they tend to carry the things that are actually useful. Maintenance prices are standard and this is a great place to have a bicycle tuned up without the condescending attitude or having the work done by an inexperienced kid. On the other hand, if you are looking for high-end racing bikes, look elsewhere.

I recently purchased a new bike after 35 years. After looking online and not knowing anything about bikes i decided to go to koslow. The lady was very helpful and knowledgeable. She showed me the different types of bikes depending on what kind of riding i wanted to do. I purchased the bike and just recently took it in for the tune up to adjust a few things. They told me initially it would take a week but since i bought my bike from them, they would move it up in the line. I am very happy with the service ive gotten and will go back to this store for further purchases.

I think they did a good job. We were there looking for a bike after looking at the big box stores(kmart/walmart) and smaller sporting goods stores(Dick’s). As soon as we walked into the store they asked if we needed help, but we just wanted to look around, so they were fine with that. When we wanted to look at a bike, we asked the lady if we could give it a look over and she said to take it for a spin in the parking lot. After contemplating the purchase, we decided to more forward with it. They include a free tune up for the bike within the first year, so that was definitely a plus. We were looking on the lower end, but they definitely have higer end bikes there, which would make you see more $$, but you should be expecting that.

I would go somewhere else. The service is rude, overpriced, and incompetent. I had brought my bike in for a tune-up, Their basic tune up is $ 40. They had spun my wheels in front of me and said I would need the $ 70 tune up due to crooked tires. Fine. So I picked up my bike… total charge $ 106. They had to put a new tube in the front tire. Well I brought my bike home and did not have a chance to ride until a week later. I started to fill my tires and the back tire would not fill. Now call me crazy… but if you pay $ 106 for a tune up… you would think you would be able to ride your bike? So I brought my bike back. I did not receive a «sorry.» Instead I got attitude and confrontation that I did not have my receipt. I did have the tag to claim my bike. Is this good customer service? Do you want repeat customers? YOU did not do your job. I’m not at fault for«not taking my receipt initially:» So they replaced the tube on the back tire… and 130 bucks later, I have a working bike, I was not about to argue with the lady. Really they should have covered the repair for the second trip cause they missed it the first time. Needless to say I am not going back here. Avoid this place.
