Chicago Fireplace & Chimney Co

I had used this company over the past few years to clean and service my wood burning fireplace. They always did a great job and never tried to oversell me on services.
I decided last fall to convert it into a gas fireplace, with faux birch logs and fire glass. Joanne was amazing to work with, and seemed to truly enjoy helping me design the look. She gave me excellent advice and direction. She also didn’t try to sell me extras that I didn’t really need (like a $ 500 remote, that would have been just a luxury item, but not necessary). I felt she respected my money and my budget.
She vowed to have the work done before New Years Eve, when I was having a small party. This was their busiest time of year (for obvious reasons) and they 100% delivered. The fireplace was done in plenty of time and looks amazing.
I can’t recommend this company more!

The people at this company are fantastic-​JoAnn will go out of her way to help you-​Steve and Sean, the installers are great. They cleaned the fireplace, flue and chimney and installed a new chimney cap. They also installed a new remote control starter for the gas logs… and installed new logs. They were terrific-​explained everything to us and made sure we knew how everything worked. Steve and Sean also cleaned every spec of dust, I would highly recommend this company-​you can’t do better.

These guys are great! Sean and Steve (the installer) was great! He wasn’t bothered at all by my young children watching them as they put the logs in, which sometimes happens with service people in the home. We also purchased a chase top cover from them. Reasonable pricing and quality service. I even received a phone call prior to them coming out to make sure we were there and knew about the appointment. Quality!

I had agreed to the $ 100 service call fee. So, I knew I would have to pay that amount regardless of whether they could fix my fireplace or not.
Two guys walked in; and, from the beginning, I could tell they were in a rush. That was ok, as rushing to get jobs done happens on work.
One of them looked at my fireplace, which would not ignite, and kept mumbling «this thing is older than me… This won’t work…» Finally, he concluded that I needed a new fireplace. But, that I was not to worry; because, he had the solution ! They sell fireplaces, starting from $ 670, but I would need to pay another $ 300 or $ 400 for installation.
I was not happy with results of the diagnosis, but it seemed like purchasing a new fireplace needed to be done… having read the 5 start reviews of this company, on Unilocal.
A few weeks later, a friend of mine recommended I use another fireplace repair company. I did. And, their guy fixed my fireplace, in less than 30 minutes.
Conclusion: These people either don’t know what they are doing, or worse, they are charlatans. The smart thing would be not to do business with them.

This is the first review I have ever written, even though I go on Unilocal for everything. I actually live in CA and bought a house there in Chicago to fix up in Olympia Fields. Long story short when I went to sell the house the HOA required some repairs on the chimney. I could not find anyone to call me back or help and the one company I did were total scam artists. Luckily, then i found my ANGEL Joann. She came to the rescue in every way possible. Even went over and above having her guys drive almost 2 hours since my property was not in their local area! She kept me informed, sent me pictures, and I knew instantly she was someone that could be trusted!!! It was very hard being so far from the property I felt like my hands were tied but she changed all that. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I had not found them. I am so grateful she answered the phone. Her guys did a great job! If you want someone reliable, honest, and great to deal with you have found the right company!!! They are truly the BEST!!!

This place often gets confused with the Chicago Chimney Authority. For the record, they are TOTALLY different! For the local area, I wish more people knew about this crew! I worked with Steve and Sean from Chicago Fireplace & Chimney Co and was treated 100% better. Everyone from the company was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. We never felt talked down to or pressured into a sale. We did communicate often through phone and email, but was always tended to. I can’t say the same thing for the other company I mentioned.
We got a gas fireplace insert & the gas line, which was somewhat complicated when installed. So far half way into the 2015 polar vortex, we are LOVING the gas fireplace!
