Budget Rent A Car & Truck of Lombard-Wheaton

I had booked a car for 7 AM this morning.
Showed up at 7 AM this morning and no one was there. On their website, this Unilocal page and their door all state they open at 7AM.
After 10 minutes I call the numbers on the door which directed me to the home office. They were unapologetic explaining that customer service doesn’t open till 7:30 AM. The rep also told me it takes about 15 minutes to get things up and running, so maybe that’s why it’s taking so long.
The problem is this place is the size of a shed, I looked in and noticed no one was in there, knocked several times as well. Besides if it take 15 minutes to get ready, then you should be at work 15 minutes earlier than your open time.
After 20 minutes of waiting I found alternative transportation.
As you can see by most of these reviews don’t even bother going here.

They accused my boyfriend of stealing a car!
My boyfriend rented a car from this Budget location at the end of May for a friend’s wedding. He returned it the next day. Then two weeks later we come home to find a disturbing letter from them saying that he never returned the car, and they threatened to take legal action. On top of that, they charged over $ 500 on his card. He called the very next morning and Budget quickly realized that they made a mistake and had rented out the same car the day after he returned it. But there were no apologies whatsoever, and it will take over a week to refund the money. We cannot believe how unprofessional and disrespectful this location is. Beware, do not go here!

Horrible customer experience! After reservation was made, they called to inform us that we had to go out of our way to get another truck. Don’t go here unless you want to be thrown for a loop!

Excellent customer service and care. After having a terrible experience at another store I was extremely impressed with the care the store took to take care of me. Everyone was pleasant and great to deal with.

We booked standard SUV from this location before hand and I called the location just to verify what vehicle I might get, I was told that I can call about 3 days in advance to speak to them n request for a vehicle, I did the same upon calling the lady at the office answered the phone I proceeded requesting for the vehicle and she snapped me in the middle and told me it’s too much that u r asking for and I only asked for sun roof. We were late by 25 mins to pick up our rental car she intentionally Didnot speak to us for another 15 mins doing things over and over and what not with the two customer before her and than it was our turn she kinda told my husband that we are 30 mins late for pick up and that’s not right and all that lovely stuff. Never mind we picked our car n left upon returning the car so me I was late by 35 mins plus called the location told them that I am on my way but lovely Monday I was very late. She gave me the same speech about being late and told me next time if I’ll be late she will charge by an hour. Fair enough car was returned paid in full but now silly me I don’t have my phone on me so I asked her if she could call the taxi for me instead she calls her staff and he went to drop me off. What I felt having this transaction with her was she tried to put off people at time with the way she speaks but she seems like a nice lady to me. And being in business and running in smoothly requires some discipline.

I am appalled at the lack of customer service provided. Not only was the lady behind the desk rude, she was extremely lazy and not helpful what so ever. She proceeded to eat her lunch while licking her fingers while I was trying to reserve a truck to move my belongings. I was and still am disgusted by the service and the lack of interest from the staff. Word of advice: DO NOT RENT TRUCKS OR GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY. I have worked previously in customer service and would never get away with the things they did.

I’ve rented from this place twice in the past 6 months, once for a 12 passenger van, the other for cargo truck. On neither occasion was the vehicle I reserved available when we went to go pick it up. For the 12 pass van, I was offered a large suburban with three rows that seats eight. For the cargo van I was offered something with half the capacity as what I reserved.
The only positive was that the person working there eventually gave us a reduced rate. Enough so to take the edge off of getting screwed.
However, I’d be most happy if the vehicle I reserved ahead of time was ready at the time I requested at the rate I agreed upon when the rental was made.

DO NOT EVER RENT A TRUCK HERE. They confirmed my reservation by phone yesterday and had the audacity to ask if it would be returned earlier because someone else had reserved it on Monday. Today they called me an hour before my movers arrived to tell me they did not have a truck. I was then called from inventory to tell me there was one in Naperville. The person on the phone kept telling me how far away Naperville was and that I could pick up a truck there! I knew where it was, I LIVED there. I WAS MOVING EVERYTHING IN LOMBARD. I was not even going to use the truck for more than 4 miles total. My movers were able to rent a truck from somewhere else in Wheaton 15 minutes before they closed.
