Super fun store! Lots of everything my nerd family loves. Huge Star Wars collection, super variety of Funko Pop figures and a great Buffy and Angel selection, cards, figures, busts, etc. love it!

Horrible location to get to. Small selection because its a very small store. Prices are WAY over what they should be. Service was pathetic. No one was in the shop and the employee… the only one I saw… was in the back on the damn phone and I couldnt even ask a question.

I really like it here. This store is mainly collectibles with a few comics and graphic novels. I’ve been coming here for about three years now. I did stop for a few months because I lived with my bf for a few months in the summer. But I went beck yesterday and it looks the same but they have added new stuff. They’ve added Funkos and some new fun collectibles and stuff. They do have the place in different sections like Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc. They also have a couple glass cases of figures that are a little pricey but if your a collector of those then they might be worth it. They are really detailed. I like coming here every once in awhile to see what’s new and what they have.

Was driving around the burbs today going to local comic book and toy stores. Alien Entertainment was not on my agenda originally because they do not have comics, but that is okay, I was seeking other collectables today. The store is a bit out of the way, but what a great place. They have the store arranged in various sections to make browsing easy(Star Wars, Marvel/DC/, Dr. Who, LOTR, etc). They have a great selection of high end and moderately priced collectables. Not much in the way of PF figures, but plenty of 1⁄6 figures, especially for Star Wars characters. The woman working the counter was very nice and allowed people to browse with little to no interruptions or questions. I ended up picking up several nice Star Wars pieces and would certainly recommend it to those seeking a well run and organized store.

If you’re a fan of Doctor Who, this is your spot. Tons of merch and memorabilia. Same with Star Trek. They’ve also got a nice selection of other sci-fi/comic book/fantasy swag, including those Hot Toys action figures(not dolls!) that go for $ 275 and resell at double their value over time. No actual comic books here, so save yourself a trip if you’re looking for back issues or monthly books.

Very excited they have relocated to a more centralized location! They have a bit of everything in the geekery department. Very good for Christmas/birthday shopping for my circle of friends. Variety in the products is excellent, and the prices are fair. Great store overall!

It has awesome merchandise, but the staff was very rude. I walked in and no one said hello or asked if I needed help with anything. I was expecting a friendlier environment.

Geek Toystore Nirvana. We are big Doctor Who fans, among other things, and they have the biggest selection of Doctor Who stuff in this area. Toys, books, comics, audiobooks, posters, t-shirts, etc. — they have it. I wish I had discovered them years ago! Oh, the shipping on Cybermen, Tardises(what’s the plural of Tar Plenty of toys, collectibles & other fun stuff from DC, Marvel, Star Wars, Buffy, Mass Effect, X-Files, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney & so much more! Their prices are quite reasonable, in my opinion. They are also far more organized & neat than Toynk — if you like tidy aisles & neat displays to look at. The staff was all very nice & offered to help folks if they were looking for anything specific.

I’ve been wanting to visit this store for a long time and I finally went yesterday. I was so excited driving there that I completely missed it as I drove by. Its two blocks down from Glenbard east high school across the street from a sleep center in a small strip mall. Once I found my way back I pulled up and walked in super excited. They have stuff for some of the most popular fandoms out there. My particular flavor of geek includes Doctor Who and Harry Potter, among other things. I immediately made a b line towards the back left corner where all the Who stuff is. I was having heart palpitations because they sheer amount of stuff they have is amazing! They probably have the largest collection of Doctor Who stuff in America. They have a massive collection of comics, magazines, audio books, posters, DVDs, and toys. I was able to score a DVD I’ve been wanting forever here for a much cheaper price than I would’ve paid online. They’re collection of Harry Potter stuff is pretty minimal but ill forgive them because they make up for it with their impressive Doctor Who collection. The lady working there was super nice. She helped me if I had any questions but mostly left me to fangirl in the Doctor Who section. I was able to walk out with some awesome stuff for a great price. Ill definitely be back here again soon. I’m going to recommend this store to all my fellow Whovians. Any geek would love this place! Hurry up and get here, you won’t regret it. Allons-y!

Pssst. Hey you! Yeah, you. Married to a geek? Close friends with one? Maybe your boss? Have no idea what to get them for birthday/Christmas/anniversary/Hannukah/Columbus Day? Check Alien out. They recently moved to a new storefront on Main St. Lombard but it’s still jam-packed with everything from old Disney memorabilia to everything Buffy the Vampire Slayer to all the Star Trek, Star Wars and Dr. Who stuff you can imagine. I saw some decade-old Star Wars fruit roll-ups in there, no joke. My husband is a geek. So this is an important place for me to know about. If I’m ever at a loss for a gift, I can pretty much close my eyes, spin around in the Star Wars section and buy whatever I pointed at. I will never need a replica Dr Who coat or a Star Trek phaser mouse with a parallel port hook-up. But if you do … this is the place to go.

Not quite sure what is going on here… last visit to the neighborhood and it looked like Alien Entertainment is no longer there. :-(I am hoping they moved and did not go out of business. This is a great shop for letting your inner scifi geek go wild. Great place to stock up on your favorite Dr. Who toys, books, comics, and CDs.

Do not go here if you are looking for comic books. This is a collectibles shop, not a comic shop. That being said, they did have an amazing selection of models and memorabilia, and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of Dr. Who, Star Trek, Star Wars and other BBC stuff, not to mention Harry Potter and Buffy. But not a comic shop, so I was confused when I went in there after looking up Comic Shops to find only a small tiny rack of comics, all X-men and Buffy.

AMAZING! (In case you’re wondering, this shop DID close for a bit. But it is back, baby, and better than ever!) I’m a HUGE Doctor Who fan. I’ve ordered«care packages» from friends in the UK, stopped at the bookstore everyday on the way from work to see if the latest Doctor Who Magazine has come to our shores yet, been disappointed by the DW book selection on Amazon, and spent more money on overseas shipping than I care to admit. So imagine my surprise when I walk into Alien Entertainment and find an entire wall of books, a double-sided rack of action figures, posters, cardboard standups, a stack of remote-control Daleks, magazines, mugs, graphic novels, comics, TARDISes of every size, sonic screwdrivers, pens, pins, trading cards, and two spinning racks of Big Finish Audio CDs! They even have replicas of David Tennant’s coat! I’m pretty sure I stood there for at least two minutes with my jaw on the floor. They had toys I’d never even heard of before! That alone is more than enough to make me a regular. But that’s only about ¼ of the store… the rest is filled with Star Wars, Star Trek, various Whedon creations, X-Files, DC and Marvel, and even a touch of Twilight(welcome to geekdom, ladies!) We easily spent an hour here today just looking at the Doctor Who stuff(since that’s my particular flavor of geek) and it’s not THAT large of a store. Very awesome, with an INCREDIBLE selection I never thought I’d find short of a very expensive trip to London.

Alien Entertainment is another great geek store in DuPage County. Whereas Toynk is more of a warehousey place tucked into an industrial area next to O’Hare, Alien is purely a shop in the corner of a big strip mall in Lombard. At first glance the two stores are very similar but their focus seems a lot different. For example, Toynk’s overall selection is much larger with lots of different geeky franchises to choose from, while Alien has a smaller overall selection, but a ton more items in the individual categories. As huge as Toynk’s Star Wars collection is, Alien’s might be even bigger. Everything from thousand dollar top of the line statues to the more recently released, 3 ¾ in. figures. They even have an entire section of wall devoted to nearly every Power of the Force figure from the ‘90s. But even with Star Wars, there’s a difference between Alien and Toynk. While Toynk’s individual figure collection can’t touch Alien, Alien had very few lightsaber replicas where Toynk had hundreds. It’s little quirks like that that make these stores great compliments to each other. Another thing about Alien that distinguished it was its collection of oddities. There were a bunch of little vintage they had stashed around that were fun little finds. Like a whole collection of Disney Afternoon character figures from cereal promotions back in the day. I’m talking Darkwing Duck, Launchpad, Monterrey Jack, Max Goof, all those sorts of things. Strange to find, but nonetheless pretty cool. They also had things like a vintage photo of Disney World on opening day. Kinda neat and not what you’d expect to find at a store like this. Other franchises they carry are Marvel, DC, Dr. Who(has to be one of the biggest collections in the States, a must for any fan). Buffyverse, Lord of the Rings, and that one TV show with the Canadian guy who overacts(not Hayden Christensen, he underacts, and besides, that’s a movie). One disappointment was the lack of anything video game related. I came in looking for a Yoshi for the LB and came out empty handed. But considering video games are a cornerstone of geekdom it was a little disappointing to not see a single WoW, MGS, LoZ, or RE figure anywhere. Also, I guess Toynk spoiled me. From the moment I walked in, the owner of that place made sure I was accommodated and was just all around awesome. No one was rude at Alien, but we got a barely noticed hi when we walked in and bye when we left. Kinda got the sense the guy there didn’t want to be bothered. I reserve the right to bump the review up to a 5 when I actually buy something there(and I will) if the service is that much better. But I was left a little disappointed by that. Still, Alien’s great. It’s selection is truly spectacular and the prices for all but the most high end stuff are pretty reasonable. Definitely another important destination for geeks in the Chicago area.

This is the best Sci-Fi store outside of London. Since I have mail and Internet ordered Doctor Who related magazines and items for many years, it was always tempting to stop by here when in Chicago. Now, 3 years later I finally did and was it cool? Oh yes. Pay attention to their hours. They are Closed on Monday! I had actually tried to stop by here in 2007, 2009 and actually drove by here last Monday(2010) to find them closed. Three Mondays in a row and I live in Texas!(Not their fault I can’t remember that!) haha! :) Best selection of Doctor Who in North America without a doubt. Friendly staff, got to chat it up with them for a bit. They actually run ChicagoCon. Enough said. Oh and they gave me excellent directions that worked out perfect to bypass evening traffic back to downtown Chicago, thus saving hours of time!(Thanks for that gentlemen!) Totally, flat out awesome mind blowing store and inventory. I will stop by here every time in Chicago(except on Monday!) :) Now it’s a really cool feeling when ordering from them online, knowing where my stuff is coming from, after seeing the source. It’s worth International travel to get to, if this is your thing. Oh and they have Star Trek and Star Wars items as well. :)

Fab place for nerds or super cool people that have nerd tendencies. They have random collectible stuffies. Star wars, comic books, LOR goodiesTheres no place around like it. They use to be in North park mall which is a very scary place to go. My dads work is close to there and my bros use to make me go there with them. If I wasnt with 2 large men I would have never stepped foot in that mall but now that they are in a safe zone I could go there by myself if I so pleased. I dont really buy anything here but its still fun to walk around and look. I like all the stuff just not so nerdy that I would actually buy it. I’m all about giving it 5 stars though!

My sons LOVE this place, as there’s nowhere better to find all manner of Star Wars and Dr Who stuff for them to spend all their money on! Much more fun than trolling the web for collectables, this store is the reason my 5 yr old niece has the Dalek backpack of her dreams. No end of cool here. Worth the trip, wherever you’re trekking from.

In the interest of full disclosure, let me say that the owners of this store are two of my very best friends. That does not, however, affect in any way, my awe of this place. I’ve watched it grow from a tiny enterprise to this remarkable brick-and-mortar version of their internet business, and couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve accomplished here. If you’re a Science Fiction fan, love Dr. Who, Star Trek, Buffy, LotR and even James Bond(Gene and Karen are both huge Bond fans) this is a place you must visit. It’s got a Dr. Who inventory second to none in this country. This store is loaded with little gems everywhere you look so that while you can do well with media like magazines, books, DVDs and trading cards, you can also find a load of fannish collectibles. Plan to spend time and money there. While the prices are reasonable, there’s just so much stuff that you may find yourself going home with a car loaded down with fun stuff.
