Wat Khmer is one of two Cambodian Buddhist Temples in the Central Valley. Wat Dharmararam in Stockon (
) has been featured on Huell Howser’s California Gold! TV show. If the story of the Buddha at WD is brought to life in their artwork of over 90 statues… WK re-​tells the story in an abbreviated short-​hand version (7 pieces of artwork).
The other significant difference between Wat Khmer and Wat Dharmararam is the lack of Donation Boxes at WK… in fact, there aren’t any! But, there are small Offering Altars where followers can either burn Candles, light Incense, offer Water (the reason for all the plastic Water Bottles), or place an offering of Food or Flowers. Unlike larger Buddhist Temples which I’ve been to that provided Candles or Incense… you might have to dig up your own when making an offering here at Wat Khmer.
Whichever Temple you visit, either site will be interesting and engaging. And it will ease the absorption of the concepts and stories of Buddhism, if not making your visit inspiring.
