I love this place and definitely worth the drive… This is usually the spot where my family gets sausage bread and pasta for the holidays. Authentic as they come… They have all fresh made«anything you want» from tortellini, spaghetti, ravioli, antipasto, meats, cheese, breads… This place… Oh, Mio Dio! A bit pricey, but it’s all authentic, so in my book, well worth it!

One of the best and only Italian Markets left in the Bergen County Area. Vitamia and Sons has been around for years, I mean years! Everything is homemade! Their fresh pasta is amazing! Their bread is freshly made daily, and if you get there early enough, its still warm! Their rice balls(arrancini), also killer and huge! And I CANNOT forget about their sausage bread! They make various«stuffed breads», pepperoni, broccoli rabe, etc to name a few. All delicious, but the sausage bread is by far the crowd pleaser! Some may say that they are a little over priced. I agree that they are expensive, but, for the quality of the food, I think that it is worth it! If you come on a holiday, Christmas especially, be prepared to wait! I waited an hour and a half on Christmas eve, but it was absolutely worth it! You will not be disappointed, I promise! If you have not been, you really need to go immediately, at least once in your life! Enjoy!

This is an awesome spot for any Italian fan. This is a real throwback to an Italian specialty shop. They have a huge selection of meats and cheeses and tons of prepared foods. I got a standard Italian sandwich with ham, salami, and prosciutto, with a very nice mild but nutty provolone cheese and a Italian vinaigrette. I recently went back to try their stuffed breads which was amazing. It was gooing with melted cheese, fresh spinach and delicious chicken, Their prepared ravioli is also amazing. Solid Italian joint.

I moved to Oregon and no such a place like Vitamia out here. I’m going to have my sister pick me up some stuff for her trip here to Oregon. It will be wonderful to stock up on some good Italian food. I lived on Malcolm Ave in Garfield-use to work at Russo’s deli on the corner by Mt Virgin across from VitaMia which was not there yet.

C’Mon! Probably still one of the World’s best Ravioli for over 30 years! I remember when this place first opened. My dad and I used to wake up do errands and make sure we got to Vitamia before noon because after 12 noon they likely already ran out. Because every good Italian did their Sunday dinner shopping on Saturday just to make sure everything was as fresh as possible. These Ravioli are so good you could use Ragu or Prego spaghetti sauce and they’d still be great! But trust me, they deserve your homemade Sunday gravy… making them unbelievable. …fuggeddaboutit! This stuff is so good it makes wise guys go legit! Just another reason to listen to my motto! «Always be True to the Cuisine” — Chef Dom

It’s really simple Best Raviolis Best sausage bread and the sauce is really good if you don’t have time to make your own sauce… This is a real Italian deli you will find all the imported foods of the highest quality here. The people who complain about price need to understand this is not Shoprite it’s also homemade food not processed garbage.

We love this Italian place. The best Raviolis! Very good sauce and rice balls. They have many other Italian specialties. Also wonderful sausage bread! They take master card, visa and Cash. You really gotta go check the place out and try it for yourself.

Every time we visit Vitamias $ 100 out of pocket. I’m surprised that none of the reviewers mentioned this place is such a big rip off. And what I don’t like the most is the fact that there are no prices on anything and they never give you receipt. The other day we got some asparagus wrapped in chicken, there suppose to be prosciutto in there somewhere. The son was ringing us up he’s asking father how much for asparagus? $ 7.99 guy punched that in, then father says oh no, this one is $ 11.99/lb, so the son punched it in. Did he remove the other one? Don’t think so. Will I know, of course not because they don’t give receipts. I just don’t like to confront people so I kept my mouth shut :( Stuffed hot peppers $ 16.99/lb I looked it up when he was ringing it, that’s crazy. It’s same stuff sold everywhere, they don’t make it there and even Whole Foods sells theirs for $ 10.99. I like their rice balls very much, meatballs are good, sausage bread can be greasy but it’s good. Lasagna on the other hand was sour, yuck and the double charged asparagus, oh so not worth it. I won’t be coming back, even thou I like the rice balls. I don’t like the owner being rude and if they know someone in line they will serve them before you.

Always awesome. I have been coming here since i was a child. The vodka sauce is to die for. I just wish they still made the garlic cheese bread.

Favorite homemade raviolis in NJ. We’ve tried a bunch of different flavors but the Smoked Mozz are the absolute best :)

Bread was delicious, sub not so much! Not a quality italian sub, they skimped out on the meat portion and when I asked for onions they joked about they ran out of them early afternoon. Disappointed, 3 stars only due to bread.

I wish I could have bought everything in the store. I went there on the recommendation of some people in my town just to buy some zucca ravioli, but I just by chance bought a big loaf of bread. We never got to cook the raviolis, but had the bread with some olive oil and Parmigano Reggiano for dinner with a little European salt and the bread was amazing! I will go back there for the bread even though its a 20 minute trip from my home. I’ll report back on the ravioli when we cook and eat it.

OK, yet another reason why I will never be thin. Delicious fresh pasta, bread, sausage bread, rice balls, prepared foods, sauces, fresh mozzarella, etc, etc, etc. Lipitor, oh Lipitor, you beckon for me yet I refuse! Long live my ability to stay within an inch of needing medication while still enjoying this marvelous food! Treadmill, don’t fail me now!

Very expensive but worth the price authentic high-quality Italian prepared foods. You do get what you pay for. The manicotti is the best that I’ve ever had, anywhere, ever and that includes any sitdown Italian restaurant. Nothing here is not good except maybe the lobster ravioli. The filling does not taste like high-quality lobster meat. It actually tastes a little bit strange.

When fresh from the oven their sausage bread cannot be beat. I’ve heard some say it can be greasy and I admit I’ve had one or two that were on the greasy side but I have learned — avoid the holidays — you know those times when they need to bake a boatload of bread to meet demand [see below comment for a tip] Also, they make some of the best fresh mozzarella in the area and their rice balls are really good. Pricey? Yes seven bucks for a box of frozen raviolis? A bit high but far superior to the on sale 99 cent ones you see in the supermarkets. Tip for next year. Do not bother going Christmas Eve Day if you are only getting ravioli and sausage bread The same ravioli can be had a day or two or three ahead since they are frozen and the sausage bread due to it being fantastic and demand outstrips baking capacity you will probably be getting previously baked/frozen bread. at least they give instructions on how to heat it. so avoid the hour plus line and go a day or two early

NOTE: I can only review on the Vitamia & Sons ravioli product available in my local Shop Rite in Oakland, NJ. Their white paperboard-boxed fresh 12-count jumbo cheese ravioli, available in the deli area, is some of the best you will find available in a supermarket. The cheese filling is so fresh, creamy, FULL, and truly JUMBO. The pasta is equally top-notch — and holds the filling with ease — no poppin’ ricotta on these! I am surprised such a high-quality product is coming from a not-too-curb-attractive facility such as that pictured — but that goes to show you that looks aren’t everything(but quality ingredients made in a clean facility is my main concern!)…Must imagine their raviolis are even fresher in the store… Will have to see one day soon… See picture of finished dish… No, this was not taken from the store — more like my desk!

This great local establishment is the real deal! Friendly and helpful and all the food looks and tastes delicious! I visited this establishment around my birthday because I had a taste for a real home cooked Italian meal. Vitamia met all my requirements for a take home specialty store. Bread that you can’t stop eating! A selection of sauces I would drink if it were appropriate! :-) Pasta fresh and delicious, I tried the ravioli a bite to the tooth with heavenly basil scented ricotta inside(24), Mama’s Sauce(2 qt.) sweet and well balanced with garlic notes, the sausage bread(1) decadent with sausage flavor, Italian bread(1) you can taste the olive oil, Mozzarella ball(1) fresh, milky with excellent mouth feel and the tiramisu(1) that wets your mouth with flavor, for a total cost of 65 dollars. The staff was courteous and even gave my 17 month old her own roll to munch on. She perked up, smiled, and said«BREAD» and proceeded to gnaw away at it, with every couple of bites, sharing a bite with me and her mother. I will be back here the next time to try other favorites and plan my next Italian feast!

Ive spent over 100 dollars every time i go here. The food is all good, you cant go wrong, but it is pricey, sure i can get bread cheaper or sausage bread elsewhere, but the one stop shopping makes it worth the trip. They are Lodi boys and we all support our family businesses. The lines are horrendous at christmas, and other holidays, but that just goes to show you thats where Italian people go for their food when they dont want to cook and anyone that is critical of the food… well its all a matter of taste! Theres always someone who doesnt like anything, including their own reflection in the mirror!

3 ½ Very Expensive The pasta and ravioli are not worth the money, they’re good but not great. I know of a better bakery with much better bread for a great price. The sauces are good but again way overpriced, my homemade sauce is just as good and at a fraction of the cost. Sausage bread is way to greasy for me, no thanks! Rice Balls are delicious and some of the salads as well. Heart disease is in your future, so save your self and watch what you shove down your pie hole.
