Great atmosphere true to form with excellent diner fare. My kids love it here and it’s a Lock Haven staple! A must-stop if visiting from out of town. Affordable, friendly, and delicious!

The Texas Lunch serves some of the best hot dogs in the world, especially the growlers with their house-made meat sauce. I have yet to find a hot dog that can stand up to the Texas Lunch growler, even in as many big cities as I’ve been. This has been a staple of the Susquehanna Valley all of my life, and that of my family. Their fries are fresh cut and stand tall on the plate. And they have renovated the place not too long ago to give it that 1950s retro diner feel, which is another huge positive. I couldn’t imagine life with out this place!

Great place to eat, excellent diner food but cook didn’t own up for mistake made to order. I ordered 3 Texas Dogs but add sauerkraut. They came with just the kraut, waitress immediately saw the mistake and said she would be back and she returned with 3 Texas dogs with no kraut. Well there was remnants of kraut. The cook scrapped off the kraut, then added onion, mustard and chili but didn’t put the kraut back on. I told the waitress there wasn’t kraut, the cook argued that there was and the waitress charged me anyway. So for that they got 3 stars.

The Texas is a classic diner and staple of Lock Haven. There’s a reason it’s packed with locals at almost all hours. It’s good and it’s cheap! The décor is like a retro diner with baseball memorabilia lining the walls. It feels clean and friendly, and the food is delicious! I highly recommend stopping in for a famous«growler»(Chili dog) or their world famous breakfast. For the price, everything really is bigger(and better) in The Texas!

All I can say is breakfast. I go here for breakfast very often. The omelettes are superb, the French toast is the best in the area, eggs, bacon, and everything else is great. The only downfall to this place is the home fries. I’m not a fan of their breakfast potatoes though I do eat them almost every time. If I’m buying, I’m cleaning my plate.

Cute little diner in the middle of downtown. Stopped here for breakfast on our way through town. Busy and definitely a favorite of the locals! Service was decent and the food was ready very quickly. Hubs thought the eggs, sausage, and home fries were good, my hot cakes were just ok.

Retro, clean and funky fun! Excellent quality of diner standards… beyond any Chain restaurant! Bacon is exceptional! Very busy, bustling happily, and were even nice to we hungry travelers of opposing football team to local Lock Haven U! All the delicious that we could see around us and what we ordered(burger & turkey club), and the Greek options looked awesome! The French fries were ancient and cold however.:-/…we ordered lunch early @ 11:30 and everyone else was ordering brunch/breakfast…so???(I refuse to think of how old!) worth a stop if hungry for a treat of hometown the way it SHOULD be! Congrats to Lock Haven for restraining a beautiful small(largish) town!

We are visiting from out of state and were referred here by a local as a great place to get breakfast all day — we love that. The place was easy to find, cute, clean, and packed with locals. The food was good, plentiful, and priced well. The service was friendly and prompt. Thank you Janice! We will definitely come here next time we are in town.

In this area for a job, had the ribeye on toast, excellent steak for the money, prepared just the way I asked. Server was friendly and knowledgeable and cute to boot, overall a win win, would recommend to anyone passing through to stop in, good food for a great price!

What a joke. Girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast and I ordered 2 over-easy eggs which were practically RAW. Like the cook had never flipped an egg before. Couldn’t even eat them. She ordered pancakes that tasted like grease, so it’s pretty obvious they don’t clean their grill often. The taste of the bacon reminded me of the time I ate my dead grandfather’s ashes. But above all, the service was just flat out disrespectful. I am a student at the local university, and it is clear that this place just caters to the regulars. The only had about 4 – 5 tables including our table, and the one time that anyone asked us about our meal, the waitress shouted from the other side of the room. When I brought up the check to the register, I showed my student I.D. for the advertised 10% discount, and the woman let out a long sigh. This restaurant is lucky that I even paid for the meal. Anyone considering coming here I highly recommend you drive a block over to Fox’s Market House Restaurant.

Delish. The fries are the bomb. Burger was pretty awesome too. Lots of options for kids, two counters, really cool space with the glittery red booth cushions. I’d be making this place a staple if I lived here.

A favorite summer spot. You just walk in and grab a seat. It’s a small place so seating can be limited. The service is quick and friendly. The food is always good and greasy, just they way I like it!

Classic style diner with affordable food for a good price. Personal Favorites: Steak Salad, Olivia Burger, Eggs & Bacon breakfast. Steak Salad(with blue cheese). Their steak salad is made with real steak, not shaved beef or hamburger. Topped with onions, tomatoes, feta cheese, green olives and fresh French fries, its a classic taste! The Olivia Burger is a Greek twist on hamburgers, Is probably a 1⁄3 pound patty with feta cheese, tomato and onions. I also like to add mayo, pickles, and ketchup. Makes for a classic-American style burger with a sharper(feta) cheese, which I like! Definitely recommend for Breakfast and Lunch. Never really been there for dinner. But one of the few places in Lock Haven with Filet Mignon on the menu.

Edible. Texas hot dog w chili sauce was just ok – was expecting more flavor and sweetness out of the chili sauce. Decently sized dog though. Oh and my salad with italian dressing came out as oil and vinegar and a mountain of pepper. Tasted fine, but not what I expected.

The Texas is exactly the kind of place you want to see after driving all night. Open for breakfast, breakfast all day, breakfast counter. I veered off the interstate a few miles into the town of Lock Haven, thinking it was the town in that Daniel Clowes book, driving around in my delirium trying to find that huge rock. But no, that’s Ice Haven, and this is Pennsylvania. Why is this place called Texas? Is there a sister restaurant in Texas called Pennsylvania Lunch? They have something here called«The Growler”– or is that just my stomach? Prices and service right out of a 1950s Amish Archies comic book. If there is/was such a thing. I need to get some sleep. Since 1918, they say. Was this the only thing in Lock Haven in 1918, and they built the town around it? Maybe the early settlers thought that THIS was Texas, the way they thought the USA was India, without GPS’s and all. There’s got to be a story here, but Ohio is on the horizon.
