Just what I needed during a very stressful time! My son severed a finger in a bike accident, and we were devastated when the reattachment failed. We were even more devastated when we were sent from Mott Children’s Hospital to Livonia(Livonia?!) for the surgery. Well, now that it’s over, I can’t say enough great things about the facilities or the staff! When they called to confirm our appointment, the woman I spoke to went out of her way to put us at ease and make sure we knew where we were headed(Note: it’s hard to see the surgery center sign, but you can’t miss the Costco/Target signs. Pull in there!). My son is three. He can be difficult on a good day. The staff treated him so kindly and patiently. The highlights? An iPad for him to play on while we waited for the meds to kick in. Flavored chapstick to «color» the inside of his mask to help the smell of the anesthesia. No IV put in until after he «fell asleep»(and then it was put in his foot, not his hand). Incredibly supportive nurses in recovery, offering every color popsicle and flavor of juice to our entire family. Dr. Lawton performed the surgery, and he was easy to work with and had a positive bedside manner. My son had mentioned at an previous appointment that he wanted an orange cast, so Dr. Lawton«snuck» some orange fiberglass into the surgery center to make that happen. Nice touch.
