Mike’s Market Place

I have yet to experience what some other reviewers have. I have shopped here periodically since back when it was Stan’s Market. Yep I am fricking old and started off in Plymouth back in the early seventies.
I increasingly found it to be a hard place to buy fresh products and not really happy service wise. One day I got some very funky meat that I had to return and they shrugged it off. Prices aren’t cheap either. I was not a regular customer but I swung in periodically as it is not too far from my parents and sometimes you just need a couple things.
Last time I was in it had the oddest smell. I have not been back.

This is a really nice place to go when you need to pick up something fast and you’re in the neighborhood. I never do my regular shopping here because their selection is not too extensive and their pricing is nothing special, but the people here are always so nice!

«Big enough to serve you, but small enough to care!»
I first went to Mike’s just because it was convenient and close to the house. We usually went to the big chain grocery stores for our major trips, but I’d pick up things I needed at Mike’s because it was convenient. Now I find myself stopping by for more and more.
The three main reasons I like to go to Mike’s are:
1) The full service meat counter. I’ve stopped there to ask what I should buy when I wanted to grill steaks. I’m not much of a cook, so I really didn’t know what to choose. The person at the meat counter was very helpful and didn’t make me feel stupid for asking.
2) The friendly board on the way out the door. There are local ads for everything — stuff for sale, services, business opportunities, local events, things lost and found… if you need to know about it in the neighborhood, it’ll be posted by the door at Mike’s.
3) The staff. I’m probably shallow, but I must say there are a lot of attractive young men working at Mike’s. In addition to not being hard on the eyes, they are polite and offer to carry my groceries to my car.
All in all, I’m glad Mike’s is around. The missing fifth star is just based on selection. Sometimes there are things I’m craving that Mike’s just doesn’t have. The catch is that if they carried everything, they wouldn’t be my cozy neighborhood Mike’s.
