My relationship with Han D DIP goes back almost 40 years. This is a seasonal business that serves soft serve cones and floats. Their banana splits and sundaes are huge and delicious. They have a lot of specialty items too. Inquire about the graveyard items that sell for about a quarter. You might find something you like. Think«the land of misfit toys.» Parking is a challenge on hot summer nights. Theyre open till 11 during the summer.

Love it. A summer staple. Inexpensive. Living in Livonia for ten years now, I have never been disappointed with anything I try from Han D Dip. Be sure to ask what’s in the«graveyard» as you can get orders that were incorrect or refused for as low as a dime. To consider: cash only and very limited parking. They have added a few more tables recently, and you can always sit on a curb or the nearby lawn, but seating is still rather limited for the amount of traffic this place gets. Be prepared to wait in line for at least ten minutes.

A popular hangout, Hand-D-Dip is a staple for Livonia families. It takes twenty minutes just to review their menu as they offer just about anything that is cold and sweet. Two major drawbacks, both of which are due to the popularity: limited seating and a long wait time. Most people park at neighboring offices or on the street since they don’t have a private lot.

I’d prefer to go here over any chain ice cream shop. After only living in Livonia for 3 years we quickly discovered this place. It’s a family owned shop and always has local high schoolers working there. Their flurry options are great things you wouldn’t think that would make sense but are delicious. The prices are fair and the employees are friendly. You can expect to wait about 10+ minutes on summer evenings. Parking is a problem. There is no parking at the facility and you must either walk there or park in the building lots next door.

If you are from Livonia there is no other ice cream place to even consider. Every year I wait for them to open and get sad when they close for the winter. The options here a limitless! They have something for everybody, even those on a diet(Dole Whip). You really can’t go wrong with any choice! The best thing about The Dip is that it is family owner and operated and a Livonia tradition. It’s a great place to feel the sense of community. You see kids with a big ice cream cone and a smile with parents to match! They have me as a life long customer!

Been going here my entire life. Summer doesn’t start in Livonia until this soft server ice cream place opens. This is a perfect neighborhood place, and the staff always consists of younger kids on summer break. They always have fun ice cream options for kids, and they even have ice cream for dogs. This is a great place to bring your family, either in a car, walking, or on bikes(the best option). They don’t really have any seating, so you really just stand around or sit in the parking lot enjoying your ice cream. The prices are very reasonable, and you should be able to feed a family pretty cheap. As far as I know, they only have soft serve ice cream, but they have a wide variety of options on the menu. During the summer on a nice day, expect a long line here. Also expect parking to be tough. Even when it is busy, you probably won’t wait more than 10 – 15 minutes in line. On a nice summer day, this hits the spot though. If you are passing through Livonia, definitely stop by here.

This is truly a gem in Livonia! Every summer we make our way to the Dairy barn at least once or twice. This local establishment has been the best place for Ice Cream in the area for years. The soft serve Ice cream is exceptional. I love getting a Chocolate and Vanilla swirl with sprinkles. And trust me they don’t lack sprinkles. You can’t even see the Ice Cream on the cone until you’ve started licking. The Ice Cream is always super creamy goodness. Everybody in my family has their own thing they adore from the Han D Dip! Don’t be discouraged because the lines look long. Almost every time I come here the lines are long but they move pretty quickly. The staff always have smiles on their faces and always seem to want to make the customer happy. That happy feeling is always the vibe you will feel at the Han D Dip. Everyone is nice and everyone is smiling. Most of the time the customers are courteous and smiling too! You are talking to friends and family and eating superb Ice Cream. It’s great. Don’t worry you can park in the Parking lots of the doctors office next door. There are a couple other office parking lots to park in to. At the side of the Dairy barn there is some grass, great for kids to run around in. There are also a few tables to sit at. Summertime just wouldn’t be the same to my family without going to the Han D Dip at least once.

Just my opinion, but this place has inflated their prices and now serves a sub-quality product. I know that it’s always busy, but I think that’s because no one wants to drive to somewhere where the prices/quality are on par. It really depends on the girls working the counter in how your item is prepared. My son ordered a large root beer float and received a large cup with a small serving of ice cream and lots and lots and lots of foam. When I mentioned the lack of root beer/ice cream in the float, I was told this is how we typically make our floats and that there would be an additional charge for more ice cream… not great customer service. I’ve ordered their sundaes and again for the cost, they are puny. They serve very light on the toppings. Dairy King in Plymouth is a better choice if you are looking for soft serve products or Custard Time in Northville.

An average DQ-like place. No offense to anyone’s childhood memories, but this is an average softserve place. It’s good. I wouldn’t drive 20 miles for it but would stop in if I was driving by.

It’s one of those places that is a institution in Livonia. Its a place kids can walk to, that teams of all ages will come after their games and once the weather starts to get warm you’ll see the people lining up. They have a really big menu for being a mom n pop shop(another plus — putting money back into Livonia vs a corporate company.) They even have«special» items like a hockeytown sundae or a 4th of july sundae. The service is usually pretty quick, parking is not a problem b/c you can park in ones of the businesses next door without a hassle, and its set up so people can sit around and enjoy their ice cream and let their kids run around safely. They used to have frosty paws to for your dogs available. Im not sure if they still do b/c I dont have a dog anymore… It’s the #1 ice cream shop in Livonia and one you should definitely check out; by yourself, with others or with a whole softball team. You’ll love it!

I remember first visiting the Han D Dip with my parents in the 1970s when I lived down Brookfield, and the dairy barn was on the corner. It was a special treat then because I wasn’t allowed to walk to 5 Mile by myself. Now it’s a special treat because we can get our tasty soft-serve ice cream and walk down the street to see my old house. Parking can get a little hairy, but we’ve usually been able to get a spot at one of the businesses along that stretch of 5 Mile.
