Mark’s In and Out

Don’t fall into this tourist trap! «Burger» = condiment sandwich (hope you like mouthfuls of pure ketchup). «Milkshake» = soft serve poured in a cup, not blended for one second. I could make better food with a hairdryer. All new feeling: wish I went to McDonald’s!

This place is a true American gem. It’s very affordable and delicious quality, not to mention a local business with a legacy (it’s their 62 season). I always get the fried chicken sandwich, but my husband thoroughly enjoyed the pizza burger on our last visit. The onion rings and fries are superb.
Get the orange soda with vanilla soft serve if you want a truly «dreamy» (in the words of the owner, and I agree) 1950s experience.
Cash or Montana checks only — no plastic.

Can’t wait till it opens up for the summer again!!! I love the malts deep fried mushrooms and of course the mushroom Swiss burger!!! Please let it be summer soon!!!

Onion rings were awesome! Burgers were good; really cheap so burgers weren’t huge, but tasty. Milkshakes are amazing. Quick and friendly service. Would definitely stop again if in the area.

This place is awesome, it’s what I imagine a burger joint would have been like in the 50’s. Quality food with excellent prices. The onion rings are very good with an interesting seasoning. Double cheese burger was fresh made and very very good. I’m a hamburger guy and this was right up my alley. They keep it very simple. Cash only unless you’re a local then they will take a check. No plastic! This is a must stop in Livingston area! Great milkshakes too, almost forgot.

One of the best burgers I’ve ever had, defiantly in my top three. This is coming from an inn n out enthusiast, so don’t take this as a grain of salt. I really enjoy their quad bacon cheeseburger with a side of tater tots.

Local family owned drive through. Good wholesome American fare. The pizza burger was absolutely amazing, DELICIOUS! 100% beef. Fast and easy and 1000 times better than corporate chemical fast food.

Love this place! We stop here every time we drive through Livingston.

Awesome find on our way through Livingston. Word of advice: a burger here is one tenth pound… So if you’re used to a quarter pound burger, you’ll need more like a triple. Fantastic! Super tasty shakes too! Skip the fries and get the tots!

We have eaten at Mark’s twice in the past week and love the charm of the drive-​in. The service is very friendly and surprisingly quick given the popularity of the restaurant. My wife had the vegetarian burger and enjoyed it, but it wasn’t anything different than someone could make at home with a frozen Morningstar vegetarian product. She did not complain, however, because Montana is no country for old vegetarians. I had the chili dog earlier in the week, and the pizza burger yesterday. Neither was spectacular. The chili definitely came out of a can, and was disappointing. The pizza burger was very messy and didn’t taste like pizza at all; perhaps they should try mozzarella instead of American cheese. The regular cheeseburger was simply okay and had way too much mustard and ketchup on it. The appearance of this restaurant is the charm. I rate it 4 stars for charm, and I give the food 2 stars (which is a stretch).

I don’t know where I should shout about this place from the rooftops or keep this place to myself but this burger joint has to be some type of local secret. I stopped when passing through town and realized all of the rad foods joints south of the interstate didn’t look good. Wanting a good burger I kept driving and noticed this small place with a tiny lot filed with local license plates.
If all of the locals eat there you know it’s good, and I’m glad I gave it a try. It’s hard to mess up a burger but it’s also hard to make a really memorable good burger. This place worked hard at the latter and it shows. The burgers are simple and excellent. The malt was classic and delicious. The fried mushrooms were cooked just right. It was typed of with a friendly staff.
I don’t see myself being back in this area soon, but if I am you bet I’ll be stopping again. Travelers, I encourage you to venture more than 500 feet from the exit and give this place a try, it’s worth it.

Wow a long wait for BAD food, extra small «normal» cheeseburger! Bun was bigger than the meat, couldnt see the meat unless you opened it! Bun had more taste! Chili dog was a burned dog rolled in aluminum foil, never again will this place get my money!

Despite being a total gut bomb they have am all American menu. Single, double or triple burgers with or without bacon.
Cash only. The service is not amazing, but it’s not about the service.
Aside from the service, and it’s actually totally acceptable given the location, this place is really great for what it is. The burgers are juicy, the fries and onion rings are greasy and the milkshakes are perfect.

I’d give 5 stars if I could get a T-​shirt. We came from New Jersey (last year & it was too early to get a T-​shirt This year too late to get a T-​shirt. Last year we were the first customers from New Jersey.
The burgers, fries, onion rings all delicious. The batter is perfect. light not greasy but a crispy shell. The milkshakes & malts are addicting. Reasonably priced.

For what it is, it’s good. Cheap fresh cheeseburger. Not the best you’ll ever have, but it gets the job done. Skip the cheesy fries. Would’ve been better if they put slices of american over the fries, like In-​n-​Out, not just cheese sauce.

Woot! A Livingston institution! Mark’s burgers are fantastic, the fries are great, the milkshakes are awesome, its all dee-​lish! I love Mark’s and I wait all winter for them to open. Love Mark’s. Love it.

This place rules.
I have family that lives in Livingston and when I visit during the summer will go to Mark’s every day for lunch. So… I’ve have had just about everything on the menu. It’s ALL delicious. Not the healthiest of lunches… but delicious and worth the trip. It’s just awesome, old fashioned drive thru goodness.
Personal favorites are the Pizza Burger and the Bacon Supercheese. The fries are unreal.
The service is great. They’re always busy but still timely and helpful.
Can’t wait for my next trip back to Livingston.

After a long day of driving starting from Northeast Montana in Dagmar, dealing with engine issues along the way in Billings, stopping in Livingston at the recommendation of a friend was the best thing I could’ve possibly done driving west on I-​90 for the first time in my life.
I had a classic and delicious meal of a cheeseburger w/​everything, french fries, and a coke. I’ll be sure to come back if I ever pass by Livingston again.

5 Stars! Taste, value and service are all top notch and can’t be beat in Livingston! Marks place is as good or better than the In-​N-​Out chains throughout California and Arizona. It’s a complete throw back in time of the old burger places back in the 50’s and 60’s. There menu is small, basic burger, fries, drinks and shakes. Your burger is made to order and you can stack it! I asked the young, skinny girl that was waiting on me to order me what she would normally get for herself, so she said «ok, them lets make it a triple stack with everything» lol! And she wasn’t kidding, it was a mouth full and DELISH!
If your in the area and looking for a great burger for lunch, you can’t beat Marks In and Out! I hope to see you there!
