Bahn mi sandwiches are excellent. First time I went I had the chicken phở and it was quite bland, not enough of all the good seasonings. Second time I had the rare beef and meatball phở. It was much tastier, but the broth still wasn’t up to par. Rare beef was good but didn’t care for texture of meatballs at all. Would go just for the sandwiches though, very yummy

Was hoping this place would be a quick, tasty option for a night when I’m on strike in the kitchen. Nope, nada, no way. My order of grilled shrimp and chicken over rice was presented as dry, overcooked chicken and shrimp with minimal flavor, with the moisture from the pickled vegetables the saving grace of my dish. The grilled beef was not much better, due to the poor quality meat making it tough to chew. The Phở was lacking in flavor. The final nail in the coffin was the poor service. Oh – one last thing – placing utensils back in the holder after children had played with the chopsticks and spoons gets minus points from me. Thumbs down from my group.

Im Vietnamese, grew up in San Jose and have been eating Vietnamese sandwhiches since way back when they were just a dollar. Been eating the grilled pork and rice plates forever, literally the only thing I would order in a Vietnamese restaurant when I was a kid. So my review of this place will come very harsh. They are new, I’ll give them that, they are in an area where their customer base are probably not asian. So they are catering more to a different taste. Or people who have nothing to compare it to. I ordered 2 sandwhiches and two rice plates. Here’s my take, they are using low quality products, which is fine if you are charging the correct price. However they are charging over 4 dollars for a sandwich and 10 for the rice plates, low qaulity and bad execution. The nuoc mam that came with the rice was so watered down and tasteless it was unbelievable. But again, they could be just tailoring it to the customer base. So for those who are looking for Vietnamese food like you know. This place is not there yet. I’m sorry I want this place to make it too. I hope they listen and try to do better. Good luck, will try again in a few months and I truly hope its better.

I ordered chicken wings, it was overcooked and had no taste. Sandwiches were ok. They messed up our order two times.

I tried this place two times for lunch. The first time, I tried the chicken rice dish. The dish was about average. There was enough chicken and rice but could have used a little more pickled vegetables. Most places that serve this type of dish also gives a small cup of hot broth but this place did not. The second time, I tried the phở with beef tendons. The broth was very good and everything on the side dish(sprouts, leaves, and lime) was very fresh and plentiful. There was so much tendon that I left about a third of it. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. Service is very attentive and accommodating. Purely based on just food, I would give it no more than 3.5 stars but considering the reasonable prices and the great service, I gave it four stars.

Let me start off by saying that I really want this place to do well. This is a mom and pop shop and the family are friendly and nice. I really like having another Vietnamese option for a healthy meal. However, if current trends continue, I fear this place won’t last. Here are a few points. 1.) Food/Value. 4⁄5 Stars. Fresh ingredients. My BBQ pork Bahn Mi was pretty good. Prices are reasonable with most sandwiches cost around $ 5, which is even cheaper than many sandwich chains. Really at this price point, you really can’t complain here. I can’t comment on the Phở since I hvnt got a chance to try it yet. 2.) Service/efficiency 2⁄5 stars, and only because they are kind and polite. The first time we came here it was packed and it took 15 min to get one sandwhich. The second time we went for lunch, it wasn’t nearly as busy and it took 45min for 2 sandwiches! The group sitting next to us waited even longer for her bowl of Phở(and they were seated and ordered before we arrived!) and didn’t even have time to eat it since their lunch hour was up. This is what people will absolutely NOT tolerate. If you lose your lunch business that will be very bad for a business like this. But no one will come If you can’t even crank out your basic sandwiches and Phở quickly. Timely service/food prep is absolutely critical to the lunch crowd. With the quality level of the food here they can succeed with the lunch crowd IF they can fix this. And I feel the lunch crowd will be the key to this restaurants surviving and succeeding. I hope that they can resolve these issues quickly. The restaurant business is really hard. But they need to fix this. Quickly.

Decided to give another shot. Ordered the grilled pork sandwich. Was expecting chunks of crispy grilled bbq pork but instead got the very sweet and soft meat, like Korean bulgogi. Bread was not crispy at all. Super disappointed again.

I’ve been eyeing this place ever since they put up a coming soon sign. It’s right on my way to work. I finally noticed the sign had switched to grand opening. So we decided to head over and get some delicious phở on a cold rainy day. First off, they are very family friendly. The staff were very sweet to our infant son. Service overall was very friendly and attentive. There is a bit of a language barrier, but they just opened so I’m sure they’ll get better over time. The food was solid. Generous portions and inexpensive. I got large phở with rare beef and beef balls, my wife got the bahn mi with steamed pork and egg. We split a mango smoothie. The phở was especially good and came with all the typical accoutrements. Total mom and pop outfit. It’s really great to be able to get authentic, home cooked Vietnamese right around the corner now. Welcome to the neighborhood. We’ll be back soon!

Was excited to see another Vietnamese place open in Livermore, especially one that serves Bahn Mi. I pretty much mimic some of the other reviewers experience as well. Service was VERY slow(but they are just starting up so I give them that). Note that I went during lunch and dinner. The Bahn Mi sandwich I ordered literally took 20 minutes to make. The bread was not good at all in my opinion. It tasted very bland. The filling ingredients were nothing spectacular either. When I went for dinner that night with my family I walked up to the counter and one of the ladies told us to have a seat. It was really confusing on whether or not it was a restaurant style of service or just order at the counter and wait. This visit they came around and took our order, although after we sat it took about 10 minutes before someone came over to check on us. Keep in mind there was only one other table with customers at the time. Seemed odd. I order the Phở Tai(Rare Steak). I was not impressed at all with the soup. The broth was very weak in flavor(anise, etc) and light bodied and the rice noodles tasted like cardboard like they weren’t cooked properly. Probably the only thing that was good was the beef. Actually probably some of the best beef I’ve had in Phở. This place definitely needs some work both in service and food quality. Time will tell. If they continue serving what they served me, they will be out of business really quick. Here’s hoping they get better.

This restaurant is good, but has nothing spectacular or notable about it. It simply gets the job done and gets you a meal. Since they just opened, they are still figuring out how to run a restaurant. Their service is polite and kind. This is the kind of restaurant I would go if I just needed food and did not want to cook. Having been exposed to great Vietnamese restaurants, this one is just«OK.» There is nothing wrong with it, but there is nothing great about it either. 3⁄5. Would eat here again, but not for any special occasion.

The restaurant just opened so they are still figuring things out aka really slow. I ordered my grilled pork bahn mi. I wished the bread was crispy on the outside. I also thought they used too much mayo. Overall it was a decent sandwich, but not fantastic. For bahn mi I will stick with Rice Paper Bistro on Vasco.
