Shari’s

Went there tonight and had probably the worst experience I’ve had while dining out. I asked the waitress if there were pickles in the burger I was ordering and she said she will check. (I am allergic to pickles by the way) She didn’t come back until she was bringing the food out and of course there was pickles on it. So I let another waiter know and she takes it back. After my friends are done eating I finally get my new plate of food and it is very undercooked. I asked for well done and I compared the meat to my friends meat (she had ordered medium well done) and mine was so much pinker than hers. I took three bites before I noticed and didn’t eat anymore.
That isn’t the end of it though!
We had been there for a while and all had finished our waters quite a while ago. We moved our drinks to the end of the table even to try to get a waiter to notice and no one did. Eventually we grew tired of this (and thirsty) and had to ask a waiter to refill them. This was after I had gotten my second plate of food and had discovered it was under cooked.
To sum things up:
Waiters seemed to not care at all.
Waiters seemed unhappy to be there.
Horrible quality of food.
Inattentive waiters.

I like Shari’s restaurants, and I have dined at a few of them. One thing that really remains consistent, restaurant to restaurant is that thier pies are absolutely delicious and that holds true for this location.
The food at this location is generally good too, however this morning I was a little disappointed with my breakfast. Everything tasted good, except for the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were rather hard, and the gravy was close to room temperature.
If I had not dined here before and had decent meals, and the fact that thier pies are great I would have rated them much lower. Hopefully my next visit the food will be up to par for this nice chain restaurant.

So we walk in and are seated right away by one of the older workers, whom I wish I got her name because she was very friendly and the reason this review got 2 stars rather than 1. She seated us and we were helped by a not so friendly waitress whom I also didn’t catch her name, but let’s just call her RBF (resting bitch face).
First, they never refilled my water. Second, although the food was good, my burger only came with around 10 fries, I’m not joking. Third, when I asked for a to go box RBF just came and threw it at my plate. Fourth, I was waiting to pay at the cash register and RBF was having a conversation with a customer and kept looking at me. Like I was literally about to leave before she came and rang me up. And lastly, when I paid I said «have a great night» trying to be nice and she just ignored me. Don’t be mad because you don’t get tips, you have to earn them. I ignored the reviews about bad service and regret it. Learn from my mistakes!

Came back again for another Meat Lover’s Skillet last night. The server was swamped, being the only one that was working at the time, but whatever. She was great regardless, as was the food.

Only dessert this time. The Lemon Meringue was very good… the Banana Crème pie could have used more bananas, less whipped topping, IMHO.

Worst service… And I don’t mean by having one server. Ordered the chicken n waffles… and the chicken came out extra extra hard. Hard as a rock. When the waitress addressed the issue to the cook, he said that’s all they have after acting like he did not hear her. Lazy…

Today at about 6:15p dressed very nicely (on the way home from the theater) I walked into Shari’s with my wife. Immediately were told by the receptionist in very curt and dismissive tone (as though we were yet another inconvenience of doing business); «Just a moment please.» My wife said ok we’re going to want a booth when you’re ready. The receptionist responded; «I’ll BE with you in a MOMENT» In a tone as though to say are you stupid? My wife said your very rude and we turned and left. As we started to walk away outside the restaurant I looked back through the glass doors and noticed the receptionist was laughing with another employee, and shaking her head as though we were bewilderingly critical and unappreciative. We are an typical 60 something couple who present nicely and don’t elicit that kind of treatment. Clearly the employees of Shari’s (if the their receptionist’s any indication) are better suited for a more officious position, say at the DMV or the IRS where the customers are more captive to their services.

Walking up to it and inside reminded my of Baker’s Square and Coco’s. The wait staff was courteous and pleasant. I noticed some areas that has some deferred maintenance, overall nice appeal. The food was good, the pies were great.

I love the stuffed hash browns which is one of Shari’s signature side dishes.
I always order them with shari’s great breakfasts platters. The staff at this Shari’s establishment are both kind and attentive! You can definitely tell that these waitresses have been in the business a long time and they know how to treat their customers! Finally found a pie place to enjoy the goodness that we’ve been missing from Bakers Square!
Last minute dessert craving got us to drive 14.2 miles to Livermore to have Sharis and it didn’t disappoint!
Banana Cream Pie. Delish!
Caramel Pecan Crunch. Delish!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Silk Pie. Delish!
… and our wonderful server gave me an extra slice of the Velvet Chocolate Silk after mentioning how I’ve missed Bakers Square’s French Silk!
The service was amazing and Leah made it worth the drive just as the pies did! Those is customer service need to take notes from Leah. She knows what she’s doing and she loves what she’s doing and it showed!
We will definitely be back!

Disgusting!
We were seated by the kitchen. so we could view everything that was going on in the kitchen. A waitress named Becca handled dirty money at the cash register, she then handled the silverware and brought it to our table. She sneezed in her hands, touched her eye glasses, wiped her hands on her clothes and touched plates and food etc without ever washing her hands. Another waitress licked her finger and then touched a plate with food on it to be delivered to another patron. We were so disgusted that we didn’t wait for our food and left.
This waitress constantly cross contaminates everything and has no remorse. I asked for the gm name and number. This was totally unacceptable and grotesque.
I will never eat at this restaurant again!

This place beats Denny’s & Ihop pretty well because they are open 24 hours. The food here is really good & prices are great. Awesome place to grab breakfast any time & day

Food was on par with an Applebee’s or Denny’s. Think generic middle American chain restaurant. Service was speedy though and wait staff was friendly. I think it draws business mainly for its hours (open 24 hours) and ability to seat large groups vs. the quality of the food. Fine as long as you are not expecting gourmet food.

Terrible.
They sat us down at a booth in an odd middle section.
And never came back.
We watched people clear tables. Even one right by our booth, but not once did anyone acknowledge us or take our order.
After 12 minutes we left.
Terrible service.
FYI this is a spot for senior citizens who have all day to order soft, bland food.
I also saw a waitress picking at a plate of food before she left the kitchen with it.
For sure we were not eating there.

A great 7×24 Café. We had a nice dinner of well cooked food served with a smile. Katrina is a wonder server. Thanks

We were seated immediately and greeted by our server Alex (who turns out was somewhat new and works as a hostess but was covering for the night past her shift, very sweet girl). The place was out of ice cream which rrally killed it for me but the rest of my family got the pies they wanted and had a good time. It did take a while for the pies to get out to us and when they were served, rather than walk around to each individual the manager (did nit catch her name but she was doing all the serving of the dishes to people) felt it necassary to just reach over the table and hand it to people to be passed to the person, she brought out forks with each pie but no napkins (really?). I could also see that they were over seating the section that Alex was working, with each table being a large amount of people which is rather overwhelming for someone not normally doing this kind of routine. As we were paying our bill I watched the manager walk out and serve food to the wrong table. Just rediculous.
We usually get great service here and the people are very friendly so we will continue to come tho I think they need to train their manager a bit on what to do when serving people.
I’ve worked the business, I know how it is done and am now at a different frontier of customer service so this is not just some random rant.
Only reason I write this is because I feel Alex was a service warrior and did pretty good with what she was thrown into, unfortunately she did not have the backup she should have. I feel a bit bad saying what I did to Alex (hopefully I did not hurt her feelings too much) and would have loved to give that so-​called manager a piece of my mind.

I had to eat pecan pie and it doesn’t sound likely but you can’t find that anywhere. Terrible service, mediocre pie, average price.

This is a door to an alternate universe, you step in and you are suddenly in 1990’s, in midwest.
I have to agree with the bad reviews. Usually I try avoid places with 2 – 3 stars but I had an out of town visitor who wanted to eat pecan pie and this place is the only café that serves pies within 30 miles or so. –since Coco’s in Dublin closed.
We waited a good 10 minutes to be seated and another 15 to order another 10 to get our pies and another 10 to pay.
Our server was Cat had a resting bitch face and she was extremely weird and slow.
First came the cold tasteless pies, then the coffee, finally the silverware.
Long story short; avoid this one.

I’ve come here 3 times to study after work on weekdays and the service has always been great! The wine pours are awesome as well! The food is decent not amazing but not horrible. It’s what you would expect from a 24 hour diner. The pies are bomb, I got a triple berry pie with ice cream… So good! Free wifi is always a plus! Will be coming back here to study.

This place has a very cozy vibe similar to Mimi’s.
They are obviously very famous for their pies, and they have no problem flaunting this as everything in the restaurant screams PIES PIES PIES! The pie board above the register. The pie case right next to the register. The pie menu on each table. The pies look amazing, and taste even better. We tried the Smores pie which has a chocolate mousse filling, graham cracker crust, mini marshmallows and a Hershey square on top. I’m not a big choco lover but this pie was pretty delicious if I do say so myself. Very rich, and it had a good balance of sweetness so that it didn’t taste over or under sweetened.
For dinner I ordered the Spinach Cobb with avocado. Not only was there blue cheese chunks in the salad, but the dressing that i came with was a blue cheese vinaigrette that looked a lot like gravy but tasted amazing. I only used about ¹⁄₈ of the little cup of dressing they gave me so it’s a good thing the salad didn’t come pre-​dressed. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and seasoned great. I loved the cherry tomatoes and all the lovely spinach, however I do wish that they added more avocado since it is in the title. The pita bread was also a nice touch.
The service was great. Our server was Jessica who had a great personality, big smile, and who helped us choose our pie of choice in the end. We were also helped by another gentleman who I sadly can’t remember his name, who was also great.
This is exactly what I needed and wanted for dinner tonight.

Great Service!
Very dirty bathroom for 10 am in the morning. Waste basket was overflowing with paper towels. Shows bathroom most likely hadn’t been clean since at least the day before. Toilet was sickening dirty. If I used the bathroom before ordering, I wouldn’t of patronized this place.

Where do I start? There are so many things wrong with this place – dirty tables, slow servers, and they are generally unorganized. I mean they kept running out of silverware and glasses! Our server kept apologizing because she had to wait for clean flatware. We waited 40 minutes for our food to come and our appetizers came with our main food! At this point we were all hungry so we are the appetizers along with the main course. I’
m sitting here waiting for our bill, because our server just disappeared. We have spent a total of 1.5 hours here… at Shari’s!

Well I don’t think I’ll be back. Stopped in late night and the cook was not the best. None of our dishes ordered look the pictures in the menu.
The food did not taste good. It was bland with small portions.
Folks who got the Pie milkshakes were happy.
Just for a sandwich, a beer, and onion rings — it cost $ 20
Not worth it!

Came here for a birthday brunch and I am not impressed.
We had a party of 10 and while it’s quite large, it wasn’t busy so it shouldn’t have been too big a problem.
It took them a while to take our order, and f.o.r.e.v.e.r. for us to finally receive our food. Three people’s orders were wrong, and she put the plates in front of the wrong people so we had to switch. The waitress was blaming everything on the kitchen, even her giving the plates to the wrong people? Ok…
Half our table ordered the meat lovers skillet which sounded amazing but turned out to be the complete opposite. It was very small with runny scrambled eggs not cooked all the way through, cold hash browns and basically no meat at all. We were all disappointed.
At least the pie was good, but we won’t be back.

I feel as if I’m being generous by giving two stars seeing as my first (and undoubtedly last) visit to this restaurant has left a terrible impression.
I’m here on a slow Thursday night, walked in at around 730 and was greeted by a gentleman server wearing a sleeve saying that he’d help me out and then I was acknowledged by one other server while the owner passed by me three times without greeting me. I figured I’d wait for my friend while being ignored and we were allowed to choose our booth tucked over by the kitchen. The table we sat at needed wiping down but the server proceeded to put our menus down anyway and quickly walked away after we asked for water.
20 minutes after getting our waters and being seated we wondered where the server was and I saw him sitting by a POS area texting on his phone when I went to the bathroom. A little weird but whatever right? We ordered our food and not only was my friends order wrong, but my sandwich was lukewarm at best, the bacon was stiff and clearly cooked hours beforehand, and my salad was wilted and they even got my friends burger completely wrong and drenched it in a sauce he didn’t get on his burger during his last visit.
All in all. This place needs a lot of help and I’m sure if we got the right server it would have been a much more enjoyable experience. One star for the food and one star for the (almost) clean bathroom. Everything else sucked.
I should have went to the in n out or Quiznos down the road. Could have saved some money and gotten better quality food for less. Yuck.
