The food was good and service was fast, but i got this to go, so i didn’t tip, and i only got 4 pieces when i ordered a volcano roll. Doesn’t it usually come with 8 or at least 6? Did i get shorted because I didn’t tip for a TOGO order?

My first time and this place gets 5 stars! I had a bowl of the Spicy Seafood Ramen Soup. It was just like my Korean mom makes… hot broth, ramen noodles, veggies and hunks of seafood. A crab leg, muscle, clams, shrimp… A-Mazing.

I really wanted to make this place a regular spot… My colleagues and I have since stopped going here. It’s not bad, it’s just that the service and food quality is sub-par for the area and price. Now that I have spent more time in Livermore, there just isn’t a reason to get a bento box here anymore with several better options around. Management that cares about giving a more solid experience will gain plenty of hungry Livermore area patrons. Just fix the basics and reap the benefits.

Today I went and it’s my first and last. First we got in at about 245 and she was in a huge rush to get us out because they close at 3. So is isn’t get to look very much. Small menu. I ordered 3 rolls and all were so fishy and that’s about all they tasted like? And the bill was 37 $ way to expensive. 9 $ for a sushi roll with 4 pieces??? Wtf no thank you. Throwing up all day & night, FUCKTHISPLACE Expensive and nasty. AVIOD. It totally gave sushi a bad name. I don’t think I’ll be able to eat sushi for a while

You know, I’ve changed my mind. Manpuku is officially better than Roppongi. Roppongi USED to be better, but the quality has gone down significantly over the last couple years. Manpuku, on the other hand, has remained consistently good in the five years that I have eaten there. I think in the twenty billion times I’ve been here, I’ve only had one time where the service was iffy and that might have just been my own perception influencing my experience. The servers have always been very good about looking up ingredients when I ask about my allergy, and they remember the regulars. I’ve had the wakame, the tempura, the nigiri, the maki, the miso, and a couple other items, and all of them have been delicious for the most part. Manpuku is fairly inexpensive, but considering what you pay, I think the quality is amazing. This is the Rolls Royce of inexpensive sushi restaurants and I heartily recommend it to anyone looking for cheap Japanese eats in the area. :)

I’ve been coming to Manpuku since it opened in 2010. I’m very unhappy with how much the prices have increased. Its no longer affordable sushi at a good price– its overpriced for the spot and for what you get! I got 4 rolls today and its cost $ 50. Usually those 4 rolls would be under $ 30.

I am a relatively recent fan of Manpuku, but I am so, so glad they are in Livermore. The first time, I came in by myself. I had their hot tea, which was brought out quickly and was very delicious. The waitress was very kind and brought me my own pot after a little while, which is always a lovely convenience. Their dining room is on the smaller side, but very comfortable and pleasantly casual. Their bar is really lovely, and the open kitchen allows you to see the chefs create, which is always a treat. The quality of the fish in their rolls is truly great. I always like to test the waters by ordering a plain tuna or salmon roll whenever I try a new place and I was not disappointed. The tuna is consistently fresh and rich red, and always pleasantly textured. Salmon is my favorite, and I’m a bit pickier about that, but their salmon is also very delicious, perfectly creamy and pleasantly soft. Their portion size is very generous as well, so the value is undeniable. That being said, the roll pieces also aren’t so unwieldy and large that one struggles to chew, which is an added bonus. Of late, I’ve mostly done to-go orders, and those are always ready on time, no matter how busy they get. I brought my boyfriend in to dine in on a few occasions as well, and we were both impressed with the speed of service and food. The fried rice is the epitome of comfort food, and their tempura is super delicate and crunchy and yummy. The miso dressing they use on the green salad is incredibly flavorful and totally addictive. Their roll menu runs the gamut of cooked to fresh. What is also very special about this place is how they invite the guest to try new things. Their sushi combo menu is ranked«beginner,» «intermediate,» and«adventure,» each of which takes you from the familiar to Chef’s choice. It’s a really neat concept, and a friendly and cute way to invite guests to expand their palates! Anyway, I’ve never been anything but pleased with the quality and flavor of their delicious food, and can’t say enough for the friendly service of Manpuku. They greet you with a smile and are so efficient and quick. I truly am looking forward to working my way through the rest of their menu, and cannot recommend them enough.

‘Japanese’ restaurant located in the corner of a moderate-sized shopping plaza off of First St & Las Positas Rd. Their menu consists of sushi rolls, sashimi, donburi rice bowls, ramen, and an array of side dishes and appetizers, but they are not authentic. Though the inside of this restaurant is quite small & cramped, parking is easy as they share a large lot with the neighboring stores. Service was quick & friendly, but their portions are small, prices are high, and food was really disappointing :(We were not impressed.

Came here a few times during my lunch break for work. The place was very open, lots of window for natural lighting, the tables and chairs were a little old, but they were useable. overall, the ambience of the place wasn’t too bad. the food wasn’t too bad either. i had the teriyaki chicken bento box. It was typical chicken with sauce on it. Can’t go wrong with it. I don’t remember if the bento box came with California roll or not but had soup, salad, rice, and chicken. And the food was cheap. The bento box for a teriyaki chicken was only $ 8.50. good deal. the amount wasn’t too big, but it was a decent size. was satisfied when i left. Rating Food: 3 Service: 3 Price: 5 Overall: 3 Not too bad for the amount of money paid. would come back.

We live around the corner so the location is convenient. They have their ups and downs. Depends on the day and how long the sushi has been siting out. Overall, not too bad of a place.

Family-friendly dining at its best. This place is a frequent haunt for my family: tasty food, safe location, easy parking, good prices and they have always been great to my kids. Over the years we have had soup spills, water spills, temper tantrums and chopstick frustrations but each time the staff have been the picture of grace, kindness and understanding. Today was no exception! When our little ones had inhaled the complimentary kids starter(an orange slice and edamame) served on a plastic plate with a plastic fork and spoon, they were starting to scope out the neighboring tables’ eats. So I asked the waitress to bring out our food as it was ready(no need to wait for fish katsu apps if the teriyaki chicken bowl is ready for us!) Understanding that our kids were gearing up for a major meltdown, she spontaneously replenished our edamame and saved us from an embarrassing and loud situation. Other kid-friendly touches: easy-to-use chopsticks for kids, paper cups with straws and lids for water, high chairs and booster seats available, an outdoor seating option that is ideal for those food-throwing phases.

I came in here for lunch, and ordered the crunch roll & the volcano roll. They were both AMAZING! Super fresh & very tasty! the miss soup was also good too! The service was great, the girl was very nice & everything was served pretty quickly & I was in a bit of a rush, and even the bill came quickly too! They really pay attention to you here, and the prices are very good too! I can’t wait to come back again!

What’s going on Manpuku? You’re slipping! I’ve ratcheted back my once illustrious five star rating to three stars. The last two times I was in there having the Seafood Udon soup, let me tell you – there wasn’t very much seafood in it! Let’s bring it back to the old standard and I’ll put the five stars back, otherwise I probably won’t be coming back at all. Update: Went again November 14 and again – skimping on the seafood in the seafood udon soup. I’ve started looking elsewhere.

Good sushi is hard to come by in Livermore, so I appreciate the fact that Manpuku exists. This place has been here for a few years and they seem to be doing really well, which is good! It’s a small restaurant, so large parties may be an issue if you have a group looking for sushi, although outdoor seating is usually plentiful. I’d say parties of 4 or 5 would be like the max you could bring in comfortably. The food is fantastic, you can’t go wrong with the bentos that are under $ 10, and the $ 5 rolls. But some of my favorite rolls are reaching $ 10+(Dragon Roll, etc.) and some of the seafood bentos can get a little pricier, but not by much. The sashimi here just melts in your mouth and has a wonderfully fresh taste that all sashimi items should have. Not fishy at all! They also have various udon and ramen to choose from, but so far my faves are the bentos and rolls; the quality is always superb. Service is usually alright, nothing special, but definitely not bad! Orders are taken, and water are refilled. That’s the most I could ask for. :)

$ 15.26 for one Philly(cream cheese salmon and avocado) and one Alaska roll(lemon and salmon on top of CA roll). What a deal! I have my go-to spot in Hayward for good sushi that’s inexpensive and was worried that I wouldn’t be able to find one in town. Now that I have I’m so excited! I don’t know if they’ve changed owners in the past five years but the sushi is much better than the last time I visited in 2009. $ 10 cc or debit minimum for those that don’t carry cash.

This little hole-in-the-wall sushi place has decent food and kid-friendly service. We have been coming here with our young family for a few years now. Our daughter first learned to eat Japanese food thanks to their«kid chopsticks» — she can now pick up an edamame bean or other delicate morsel better than we can! Current favorites include fish katsu appetizer, unagi(eel), lion king roll(recommended by the owner on a recent visit), and the perennial teriyaki chicken bento box. Parking and getting seated is no sweat, but come before 8 pm — they close early on most days.

I came across an old Manpuku menu from our car’s glove compartment and after looking through it, I arrived at the conclusion that 2006 to 2009 were their best years. Although the sushi rolls were a tad smaller than average, the taste and price more than made up for it. All rolls were under $ 10, with the smaller ones(e. g., Poki Roll, Unaman Roll, and the like) marked at around $ 3. Because we came here very often, we would sometimes be given free House Salad, Edamame, Miso Soup, or even Jap Chae! If I were rating this back then, i would give it 5 stars in a heartbeat. We sampled the Bay Roll, Volcano Roll, Summer Roll, etc. before they even made the official menu. Flash forward to the present, the size and taste remained the same, but the price had so much increased. For that, I should be giving this place no more than 3 stars. However, the service over the years has always been friendly and commendable, especially when Michelle is around. Got to add another star for that…
