Cash only and not enough change on my last visit for a $ 20. No credit card accepted. Went to Nations for dessert instead. I guess I could have spent some time in the ashtray of my car to find some money for a donut… Been here a handful of times over the past few years — convenient to have this near all the bars and downtown. 24 hours is impressive. If they accepted credit cards like so many others — with a minimum $ 5 charge I would give 4 or 5 stars.

The place is run down, only accept cash, the cashier is grumpy sometimes, the coffee sucks, it always looks dirty in there. So why the 4 stars? Open 24 hours, donuts taste great, I love the cream filled donut holes… and they’ve been around forever. I just don’t talk to the grouch, I don’t eat at their nasty tables, I bring cash, make my own coffee, and this place is golden!

I’ve been going here for long time and it has never changed. Cash only, but not expensive. Open 24 hours, but not always a wide selection. I usually go at night, so maybe they have better donuts in the morning. I wish they would have more in the evening, and fix the squeaky cash register…

Went in the other day and asked for half a dozen. Lady looked at me confused and asked me «How many?» OK. Never mind. Six. I want six. It was 8:30am and the selection was already pretty picked over. I tried to get an assortment for my co workers but the way she shoved them all in one bag I decided to forgo getting one with nuts on top because I didn’t want it to cross contaminate onto my sprinkles. I’ve been here a few times before for whatever reasons and I pretty much always have just average service with average donuts.

Blueberry and strawberry donuts, yummmmm! My husband and I used to live just around the corner from this place. No matter where we lived he’ll still make a trip for me to get me their blueberry and strawberry donuts!

Still my favorite donuts. I have been coming to the donut wheel since I was a kid. Still the freshest best daily baked donuts I remember. If you have not tried them you should you will not be disappointed

FYI — CASHONLY. They do have an ATM which charges you $ 1.99 to pull out moolah. For 2 donuts — it was about $ 1.98(I think — I forgot) They are 24 hours & I’ve always passed by & wanted to go in. Well — it’s about 2am — while waiting for our ride the opportunity had come. The lady working didn’t look too happy but if I had to work during the hours when dealing with drunk people is at a high — I wouldn’t be too happy either. Just sayin’ They had a good assortment of donuts — from sprinkles to plain. You crave it — they had it. I forgot what kind of donut I had — it’s like a super airy donut. & what do you know? I forgot to take a pic because I devoured it. Lol. All in all — a 24 hour donut place that isn’t all in the city(SF) — this isn’t bad, not at all.

Been coming here and eating their donuts since before I could walk! Really good, really fresh, and a large variety. Get there early though! They do run out if they get busy. I would highly recommend the custard and the old fashioned. Donut holes are always good too :)

Came after lunch on a Saturday and was disappointed to see only a couple of donuts and donut holes especially after reading about the different varieties other Unilocalers had posted. I don’t know how this place has enough business to justify 24 hours of service.

I have to update my review. I bring my 4 year old son here about 1 – 2 times a month for«donut date». We come mid morning(9 – 10 ish) and the donuts are always good now and the service is very friendly. They do take cash only, which isn’t a big deal if you are prepared for it. I hardly ever carry cash, so my 4 year old and I have a little change jar we save all of our coins for donut date day :) They have a lot of regular customers, we often see the same people here all the time, and I definitely like that small town vibe and friendly service :) !

What has happened to our beloved donut wheel? Three separate trips recently i didnt get any donuts because the display case was bare. And i‘m not talking about after some morning rush either. Yesterday i went in at 6:30 am and found nothing but sprinkle cake and a few raised donuts. No french. No old fashion. No bars. Nothing. For a business that claims to be open 24 hours they sure don’t act like it. Perhaps they should just consider closing and then opening at a time they consumers need donuts. And offer a full assortment. Telling me the baker was to lazy to make certain types is a terrible excuse. Get it together donut wheel. Livermore needs you. Or at least a new owner with some needed passion for the business.. .

Mhmm got a WARM blueberry donut aka best thing ever. It’s not super sweet(perfect for me). We kind of went at a bad time I guess, they didn’t have a lot of donuts out and they were still in the process of making them, I really wanted to try their donut holes but next time! Open 24 hours!

While visiting a friend in Livermore, we stopped in to Donut Wheel. I was especially excited because I’d been to the Donut Wheel in Cupertino, where I’d had some of the best donuts ever. I wasn’t sure if they were the same, but like I said… I was hopeful. :) Though I was impressed with the selection of donuts on a Saturday afternoon, and the friendly service, I was just a bit let down by the donuts themselves. The twist was nice and puffy fluffy, with a smooth sugar glaze. However, the apple fritter had, like, no discernible apple.(The dough was good, but lacked apple.) My friend took home some of her favorites, but also tried the red velvet and thought it was ok. I feel like I should give Donut Wheel another chance… It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t quite the best, either. I’ll recommend it, but I can’t be effusive as I often am. :)

Well-liked community donut shop. Looks like it’s been running 24 hours a day for decades. And I agree with other reviewers that the Old-Fashioned Glazed is a dandy. But I’m not going to confuse this with the best donut shops in the country, that belong to Portland, OR, Downtown Chicago and Inglewood, CA. But they like their customers and seem to know how to attract the Halloween and Christmas crowds. #tubular

A few more visits requires an update and an additional star. I usually come in here after the Farmers Market before heading home to pick something up for my Husband and where the selection is always really limited I have myself become quite a fan of the Blueberry Cake Doughnut but is not something I find often.( ) I also got to try this elusive Red Velvet Doughnut and honestly? Not all that. I actually found the ones from Safeway were better and cheaper, less the cream cheese which isn’t needed anyway.( ) The only 24hr Doughnuts shop within about a 25 mile radius, just don’t come expecting a huge selection.

stumbled upon this place because donuts and why not. cute owner and there was a good variety at 8pm. I didn’t want to go overboard and buy too many, so I stuck to the red velvet, blueberry, and old fashion. they were all so good!!! I kinda wish I had more haha. but nonetheless, they’re doing something right.

I was visiting relatives in Livermore and we were craving donuts so I found this place on Unilocal and saw that they had pretty good reviews so i decided to make the drive to satisfy our craving. Imagine my disappointment when we walked in to see that there were 2 – 3 sheets of donuts that looked sad and lonely and like they’d been there for a while. It was just plain donuts and maybe maple? The rest of the cabinets were empty and there was no one around to even ask if they had some donuts in the back. We waited around for a while and nobody ever came to the front. :(

I’ve never been in here in the mornings, only after 9pm. It is 24 hours and I definitely am giving them props for that. But if you show up round midnight or past, it is a whole other crowd, just sayin’. The selection at these hours look more marginal, and the lady behind the counter is somewhat zombie-like at this hour, but this place is money for that quick cheap sweet fix. Even though the selection is limited, the product does taste quite fresh. The cake-y dense donuts have a nice texture and are not crazy sweet which is of paramount importance to me. The blueberry one just melts in the mouf. And I heard the chocolate covered frozen bananas here are quite good if I were into such things, but I’m not. Great way to end a night. Or start a day, depending on what type of person you are. Early birds and night owls will all be happy here.
