You may have a bit of a wait, but that depends on what time you go. It’s worth the wait. The fish dinner was very delicious. My son has the wings and he devoured them. His gf had a grilled chicken salad and it was a nice portion size. The server was super sweet and very attentive. We were visiting, but I think about the food at this restaurant a lot. Wish they were open on Saturday & Sunday.

We tried this place on a recommendation from locals in Lake City. It was delicious. We tried the fried pickles, popcorn shrimp dinner and the French dip sandwich. All three were great! The pickles and fries that came with our meals were crispy. The mountain of popcorn shrimp was also crispy with a beautiful batter. Loved the amount of meat on the fresh bread for the sammy. Our service was outstanding. The waitress refilled our drinks often and asked how everything was three times. Very friendly too!

Drove 25 miles to try this place. Well worth the drive. I had the BLT and spouse had smoked chicken salad sandwich! They were both DELICIOUS and we would come back for these alone.

Lunch specials are same portions as dinner menu items; however, price is greatly reduced! Specials are from 11:30AM until 4:00PM. Plan on arriving no later than 3:45PM.

I love the southern feel to this place. Always try to swing by when in town. The help is great too!!!

Holy Moly! The food is amazing and the beer is ice cold. They had a full house on a Tuesday night, but the wait on our food wasn’t long at all(as mentioned in other posts). The shrimp was great by itself, but try adding a little of the Seminole Swamp Seasoning that is on the table to one of your shrimp or to your fries for a touch of spice if that’s your thing.

On our way home to Austin from Orlando we decided to try this restaurant off i10. It was fabulous! Had the French dip sandwich. It was a foot long and the meat was tender and medium rare. Really good, I would have given five stats but the food was a bit slow coming out of the kitchen

A local favorite, but not my cup of tea. The food is expensive and has never impressed me enough to be considered worth it. Although I’ll definitely be back and ready to try something new every once in a while, I do not expect much. If they stayed opened through the weekend, I’d be more apt to come back. My one rave about this place: the coleslaw is the most phenomenal I’ve ever tasted. Try it!!!

It’s always a wonderful experience! Yes the famous shrimp sandwich with roasted veggies is my favorite. Cooked to order, fresh and hot!

Read other review what more can I say, the food is cooked to order. This may cause a wait but worth the wait.

Gouged !!! Because I wanted to add a chicken breast to a small house salad I was charged $ 9.10 !!! The breast was small and split and the salad was limp and unappealing I won’t be back and i will be calling a manager

Decent ribs-and-chicken, iceberg-lettuce type fare. It seems hard to believe but I’m almost positive the posted hours said they were closed Saturdays and Sundays! They certainly are packed on Friday nights.

The food was horrible. I had the BBQ chicken and it was the worse ever. The only thing at our table that was edible was the French dip my daughter ordered. Pretty hard to screw up a sandwich. I guess when your one of the only games in town you can serve mediocre and get away with it. You’d think after 50 years they would have it figured out. Pass this one up and head to Lake city for dinner much more to offer.

Good food and relaxed atmosphere but a little pricey for what you get. A Live Oak institution

This place is in definite need of some upkeep and renovation but then again maybe that’s part of the appeal to some people. The food was good for bar food, but the fries were salty and bland. Our waitress was nice and attentive. I agree with the previous reviewer that the styrofoam cups are odd in a sit down restaurant. Overall it is fine, nothing special.

Excellent food, fast and superb service, relaxed, inviting atmosphere. I was delighted to discover that I could get a healthy fish dish here with grilled sway, black beans and rice and tomatoes. It was the special and well worth the $ 10. It hit the spot! The food came out at lightning speed and the server was very attentive. The only tiny thing I would improve with this place is switching out the styrofoam cups for some biodegradable corn starch ones or just plain old real glasses. Minor thing compared to all the great things about this place!

Wow really surprised. We were traveling fr Destin to Orlando. I wanted some good food not fast food. Used Unilocal and found this place. It was so good. I had 16 shrimps a salad. My husband ate all his food loved it. My daughter had an adult cheese burger and ate the entire thing. She doesn’t eat a whole lot. The staff was friendly and made sure no butter was used on my food for cooking. Hoping to stop by on way back home.

I eat here at least once when I visit Live Oak. This is one of the best restaurants in town – although the competition in Live Oak is not that fierce… Menu variety is decent – with steak, seafood, salads, sandwiches, burgers and more. We were at a large table, and the service was slow and sometimes forgetful. Nevertheless, the food was good and this is definitely a place to try in Live Oak. And now that the county is no longer«dry,» you can even order a mixed or frozen drink!

Greatest food in town! Had the chicken that came smothered in sauteed bell peppers and onions and melted cheese. The chicken was a little dry and cut into pieces but it was good overall. Came with your choice of a side I chose grilled vegetables and it was a huge portion of vegetables yum! Husband got the Nachos it consisted of Doritos, beef, cheese, lettuce, salsa, tomato and sour cream. It was good also if you don’t mind the heaviness of nachos. They have odd hours, are only open Mon– Fri and are closed on the weekend. They have a full bar and feature several choices of beer, and a few choices for wine.

Sometimes a local tavern, like the brown lantern can be a real find. And sometimes, it is the best restaurant in town, in a town with few restaurants. I am not sure which the Brown Lantern is, but it was just okay. Nothing to write home about, but service was good and food selections were plentiful. I have not tried all that Live Oak has to offer, but I am thinking their may be better choices.
