I had an absolutely excellent experience taking a basic pistol course with Straightforward Shooting this past weekend. I contacted her on a Wednesday about a Saturday class, and she was able to squeeze me in, no problem at all. When my schedule made it difficult to find a range time, she worked with me and set up a special appointment. This registration was about as painless as it gets, and when I emailed her, she called back within 20 minutes. I don’t know what the prior reviewer had happen, but«unresponsive» wasn’t a problem I had. I took the classroom portion, and was very happy with it. It started from«This end goes bang, don’t point it at anything you don’t dislike» safety for the beginners, but then quickly got into the nuances of shooting, defense, and even field-stripping/cleaning. I had had _no_firearms experience before, and she was patient, tolerant, and encouraging. Most importantly, she knew how to actually teach the material, a rare find. Also, it wasn’t just Mrs. Francone, there was a small team of instructors, all three seeming knowledgeable and helpful, and each with varying experiences, each friendly and willing to teach, and the whole thing left me feeling like my money was very well spent, and like I got a great deal of knowledge for the price. Safety-wise, they laid out the rules early, and followed them to a T. All attendees guns were checked and ammo-free at the door, all guns on the front table, even confirmed unloaded, were always pointed away from students, and they seemed to walk the safety walk as much as they talked it. One final note: This was a largely non-political, non-religious affair. Comment was made on gun laws(as necessary), and a few instructors did make clear their feelings on the current state of regulations and politics in the US, but at no point was there political pressure, or even anything outside what you’d expect in any other classroom. Opinions were voiced, but not in any sort of intolerant way, which, based even on the website statements of many other shooting schools and discussions with friends, seems a bit outside the norm. This is a little thing, but it spoke as to how classy these people are. My one complaint is with the lack of same-day range time. I understand that that’s an infrastructure issue more than anything, but it would’ve been rather nicer to apply what I learned immediately rather than waiting a few more days, but Tina is quite flexible about that. I can’t comment on range instruction yet, but I’ll update my review after my session. So, if you’re thinking about shooting and safety instruction, I’d _highly_recommend Straightforward Shooting. Well taught, safe, and classy.

My rebuttal to Ms. Francone’s response(stay classy, lady!): LIAR! I will admit that you returned my first message, but I suggest you check your phone records and your voicemail again. I left 3 voicemails and called you exactly 9 times in two weeks(if I cared enough, I could supply you with proof of that). Thank you for your lack of concern, but I have already reported your conduct to Google Offers, recommending that they not contract with you in the future, and received a refund within 6 hours. THAT is good customer service.
