I’ve had a couple of crowns from Eric and some filings. Since moving to the US from the UK 8 years ago Eric is the first Dentist that has actually treated me like a human being rather than a 6ft 2 inanimate object to be poked and prodded at while extorting $. His office is very comfy and he has all the gadgets to make the experience pleasurable and actually a nice distraction from the everyday humdrum. I have had the complete opposite experience from the other reviewer. He took the time to very clearly explain to me why I needed the work and backed it up with x-​rays and digital imagery. Both crowns have fitted perfectly and are completely natural. He mills them on site which cuts down on the waiting and the annoyance of having temporary crowns. He is never too busy to pause for questions and engage in small talk while working. He is going to fit me with a night guard but I have visible damage from years of grinding so I’m glad to be getting a top of the range model and not a cheap Walmart device. While we don’t necessarily see eye to eye on some political topics… Eric is a great Dentist!

I had Eric Rysner as a dentist and he told me that I had Bruxism (nighttime grinding) and that I needed to purchase a $ 600 ‘Nightguard’ from his office. When I asked questions about it (i.e. how he was able to identify this issue, why I don’t have any symptoms, etc.) he became dismissive with his responses. He also mentioned that I needed to have a molar refilled even though there was no definitive evidence that I had a cavity (he admitted this but wanted to sched the work anyway). When I started asking questions and expressing concerns about this diagnosis (no evidence on X-​ray, concerned with a weakened tooth, etc) he became defensive and said in a threatening tone that I «WILL have a crown» on that tooth soon.
I’ve since been going to another dentist who said I’d be fine with a plain ‘ol DenTek nightguard at Wal-​Mart ($ 20) and confirmed that I did not have a cavity on the molar Eric indicated. If I took Eric’s advice, I would of been ~$ 600 poorer and would of had to pay $$ for an unnecessary crown/​work resulting in a weakened/​ugly tooth.
Eric may have the appropriate education and training but the fact that behaves this way with his patients gives the perception that he’s an elitist who is insecure by being defensive, arrogant by being dismissive, and greedy by up-​selling unnecessary products/​services. Consider other dentists before choosing. If you do choose him, be sure to question him when ever he indicates a problem with your teeth.
