Acme

I’m really feeling 3 stars but because it’s SO much better than the A&P that previously occupied the space, I’m bumping it to four. It’s clean. It’s bright. It doesn’t smell. But the produce is meh, and I’m a big produce buyer. The sales can be good, the employees are nice. I don’t dread having to run in and out, although I also miss the self serve checkouts. Overall, good job Acme.

Welcome to Little Silver’s newest addition, the brand new Acme which has replaced the old A&P.
When one considers that the A&P was one of the worst run businesses in town, I can only imagine things are looking up with this replacement.
Already the store is brighter, seems to be cleaner and the staff appears to be much happier. All good things!
Things to note — as of opening, Acme does not have a liquor license — so gone are the warm beer sales. I would have to imagine that they are seeking to acquire A&P’s old license because I can’t imagine a warm beer license would useful to anyone else in town. Time will tell. For now, you will have to do your shopping over at Little Silver Bottle Shop around the corner for those needs!
Also — they have done away with the self check out lanes. I’m sad to see those go as I always found them extremely convenient.
With those exceptions noted, it appears that Acme is off to good start. We will have to see how it stands the test of time.
