I am very disappointed in my recent experience with Chainwheel. I spoke with them on the phone and was told they would assemble a bike for me for $ 60. The next day I arrive at Chainwheel and I’m told it will be $ 85(even after I explain I was told $ 60 on the phone) and on top of that it will take 3 weeks to finish my bike when the bike was delivered mostly preassembled by the manufacturer. I ended up using another bike store that assembled the bike in 3 days for $ 60 and was much more customer friendly.

This shop is so professional. The extent of the information and measurements that they took in fitting me for a road bike are second to none. I’m a girly-girl and I was warned that they might be a little snobbish to my kind. Not the truth at all. I made about 3 visits leading up to committing to the purchase, and everyone was always bend over backwards nice to me. If you want a farty cruiser, this may not be your shop– they really do seem to specialize in speedy road bikes with some mountain bikes too– but overwhelming road bike selection. Floor to ceiling actually. Ernie was ultimately my main salesman. He is extremely knowledgable, and I’m so happy with the bike he helped me select. I rode it 40 miles within the first 24 hours of ownership.

Chainwheel is unmatched for selection, variety and friendliness. They also have Chomps, my favorite little energy food, so I’m in here often. When I started biking, I bought a $ 50 used bike from my friend, but I needed it to be tuned up, and I needed a helmet, bike shorts, odometer, bike rack for my car, etc. I found everything I needed, good advice and a lot of assistance from Bruce, and others at Chainwheel. I also felt the service on the tune-up was good, thorough and helpful. The clothing selection for women is also good; I’ve gotten some cute things here that are super comfortable and perform and wash well. Ironically, when I was ready to upgrade my third-hand, hybrid to a new road bike, I went to Chainwheel, of course, as I had read on Facebook they were having a sale. But I wasn’t happy with my salesman that day(I cannot remember his name). I felt he wasn’t listening to me and what I wanted(a road bike I would grow into, not another«stepping-stone» bike to get me where I ultimately wanted to go, long road tours and extended rides). Not wanting to spend the energy to convince him that I know myself and what I was ready for, I went somewhere else for the road bike, a smaller shop, with a very attentive salesman. BUT I’ve had that bike serviced at Chainwheel, and as always, they did a GREAT job. The second I got on it after its recent tune up, I could feel the positive difference of their work. I think Chainwheel is a little on the expensive side, but bicycling overall is an expensive sport, so that’s not a huge issue. This store and its professionals are a great resource.

This place is simply the best bike shop in LR. Everyone that works there are avid cyclist ranging from racers to casual riders and they are all super friendly and helpful. I’ve bought three bikes here and the folks there are always super helpful.
