The food is pretty good but pricey. I can’t support this local business anymore because the owner was aware of a Shire City fire cider boycott and still ridiculously overstocked her shelves with their product. Their confusing ethics are very disappointing.

After living in San Francisco for the past three years, Simmon’s is a welcome sight for my «oh my goodness I’ve moved back into the sticks, where am I going to eat» sore eyes. Nine visits in my first 21 days home, and I’m hooked. For those of us that like to know what’s in our food and where it comes from, this is a MUST add to your list. They have delicious soups and sandwiches — so far I’ve had the chicken stew, breakfast sandwiches(holy moly get the BACON on your egg and cheese!!) the Thanksgiving, Cuban, and Chicken Salad, and the pickles, oh for the love of pickles! They have quality coffee that hits the spot for coffee snobs like yours truly all day, and with winter hours of 7 – 7, they are easy to hit up either coming or going from town. They are a very rare find for those of us who read labels and don’t eat anything from frito lay, general mills, factory farmed meats etc. — imagine a small store in a small town where you can actually buy and eat what they are selling!!! Overall they have done a very nice job at stocking organic, natural, and locally made products and cute bits and pieces that would make great gifts from local artists. My one suggestion is that If you are in a hurry, keep in mind that this isn’t fast food, and don’t get all grumpy with the staff. I’ve seen it a few times where folks are getting antsy and getting the staff all worked up. Slow it down folks, the staff is working hard and it’s worth the wait.

An update. Tried the take-out dinner. Macaroni and cheese, and chicken pot pie. Both delicious.

Simmons Café and Market is all that I look for in a small, local shop and eatery. It is a bit off the beaten path, which, for one that lives in PVD, is the only negative. But that is certainly not truly a negative at all. The café had sandwiches, salads, breakfast items, and soups. I did not partake — but will be back to enjoy. I stopped in on the way out to Sakonnet Point for snacks. I found a mix of local items, as well as GF options. Both are PLUSES in my book. There was produce, dairy, dry goods, and packaged items. I took a dip and box of crackers for my little picnic. Local artists(jewelry mostly) were featured when you walked in. The ice cream was tempting — but I didn’t give in. I could easily see how one would want to. A great shop for small shopping. Looking forward to next time.

Lovely store. little healthy items .a treasure, really with products carefully chosen. Fabulous staff for the most part. Those little non cupcakes a delight. Bought delicious sandwiches for the beach and aforementioned desert. Ice cream from Somerset… yum. To proprietor: Be sure to see if you can get Immaculate Gluten Free Fudge Cookies. Bottles of Izzie a great alternative to nasty soda. :)

Great sandwiches & there is a really cool spot to hang & eat outside, in the back. Staff are friendly & helpful in sharing which sandwiches are most popular. Next, I want to check them out for breakfast; have seen photos of their egg sandwiches on the Simmons FB page & it looks really good!
