Price is a bit high which is the only reason it’s not 5 stars. Outstanding steak and apps. Many size and cuts to choose from. Had the 18oz ribeye and it was cooked exactly as ordered. Rest of our party were also very pleased. Service also could not have been better. I will definitely be back.

We stopped dining at Porterhouse about 5 years ago. Was just never that impressed. Some of it is the location and ambiance, it feels super suburbia and basic. If I am going to pay for a nice steak and martini I’d rather head to the city. Last night confirmed our opinion once again. Server took a while to get our drink order. Food came way too quickly after our first drink order. Give me at least 3 – 5 minutes to enjoy my drink. Spinach salads w/warm bacon dressing were okay, but like I said, they came right after she brought our drinks. Made us feel rushed. We both ordered Grouper and it really tasted as though it came right out of a freezer. Just no big deal whatsoever. I wish now I had just got a steak. She never did come back to refill my husbands coke and we had to ask for the check. We both agreed next time we will head to Strip Club or Salt Cellar. It was just not that memorable of a meal.

I don’t know why I always thought Little Canada was far but my curiosity was finally up enough to head out. My online reservation didn’t go through, no biggie when they open at 5. They have bread to die for. I had a strip steak and Basil had ribeye, both delicious. The topper is the clam chowder. I would order this if it was ninety out. Our waitress had us fill out the bread card at the table to start building up points. It’s hard to believe Chianti Grill is part of this. They sure could use some of the recipes. Nobody seems to dress up to match it’s fancy décor.

Ate here on Sunday, October 18th after the Vikings beat the Chiefs. I needed a good steak after that game to drown my sorrows. I had the filet and my son had the black and blue rib eye. Both were cooked to perfection(rare). I tried my son’s rib eye and the seasoning was a bit more flavorful than my filet but both were delicious. Had broccoli for one of the sides and that was delicious too! Save room for dessert crème brulee is awesome!

I have no idea how anyone could have a bad experience here. Hands down one of the best restaurants I have been to. Not cheap but considering the quality and portion size, it’s a great value. These operators know their stuff

Omg go eat here!!! I had the crab legs and I almost couldn’t finish it but I did and now I’m in a food coma. Amy out waitress was awesome! !! All I can say is is the bitterness of poor quality will long outlast the sweetness of a low price.

THIS is my new steakhouse. Set your watch back to the mid-60’s ‘Rat Pack’ era and enjoy a PERFECTSTEAK. One big caveat– Order that steak one notch above what you usually enjoy. (ie: If you like yours medium rare, order it medium) We both took pause at the descriptions of done-ness, adjusted our terminology accordingly, and both received absolute perfection. Reservations are a must.(Why do people drop a hundred to eat at the bar again?) We were seated in a booth in the smaller bar area. The old, giant, smokers ventilation shaft in the ceiling still in evidence, bartenders in black ties and vests chatting up the customers, while Sinatra played softly in the background. We went in looking for a new steakhouse and found it. We both ordered the Filet Mignon(7 and 9 ounce) adjusting the done-ness as above, baked potato, and salad. Did I mention our steaks were done so perfectly that I wanted to shake the hand/hug the person that prepared it? You are truly an artist, sir! The Mrs had a Brandy Alexander, which is not on the menu, which caused our server to ask how we knew about it.(We were tipped off by a friend). Ice creamy, alcoholic, goodness where I had a few samples and she was still finishing it off for dessert. Waitstaff was wonderful and attentive. Several servers cleared dishes, etc as they passed by, not caring if ours was their area. …and now after 5 hours apart, I cannot wait to return. :)

I can’t even begin to tell you how much we enjoy the Porterhouse, but I’ll try. When we want that high end steakhouse experience right here in the comforts of the northeast burbs, we always find ourselves at the Porterhouse. We’ve tried all the wonderful steakhouses around the Twin Cities and most are pretty darn good. In my opinion the Porterhouse can stand toe to toe with any of them. Service is always great, very knowledgable about the steaks and the wine list. The best steak I’ve ever had is the Black and Blue Ribeye. Blackened with Cajun seasonings in a cast iron pan and served with a melted blue cheese sauce on top. It’s decadent. It’s powerful. It’s just the most wonderful steak I’ve ever had. The smokehouse shrimp appetizer is also excellent. We will usually end our meal with the huge slice of chocolate cake or an ice cream drink. Or both. It’s always busy, so reservations are needed. Otherwise, waiting a bit for a seat at the bar and having your dinner there is always a nice way to change things up. I’ve never tried the seafood as a meal so I can’t comment on that, but who in their right mind would pass up on such a masterful steak for a little seafood? Not this guy.

All I can say is, excellent. Not nearly enough rave reviews about this place. Good drinks, atmosphere, wait staff, and most importantly, steak. Enjoyed a porterhouse and twice baked potato all made to perfection.

Love this place. Super club atmosphere We love the bartender and could spend hours at the bar talking to him. The food is excellent and the bake potatoes are amazing.

The food was amazing and the service was excellent, more for your money compared to Pittsburgh Blu.

Most importantly the service was great and the food was excellent. Secondarily, the décor’ is dated and parking is tight. I will definitely be back but it is a candidate for an interior make-over.

We had a party of 6 and were seated at a booth better suited for 4, with a reservation in place. The hostess, and eventually the manager, were not impressed with our complaint. They refused to consider seating us at two open, larger tables, which remained open for well over 30 minutes while we debated where to dine. Eventually, we left the restaurant and dined at the much better Tria. I later emailed the restaurant, attempting to make sure that the owner was aware of the service they were providing. I received a return email from the same manager who had been rude that evening. In the email, he accepted no responsibility, and even stated that he was not aware of our guests«body types» when taking the reservation. The only apology he offered was that he was«sorry» that I felt that way. What horrible customer service! I will never return and will take every opportunity to share my awful experience.

Had the porterhouse the first night. Lacked on seasoning and taste. Had the black and blue steak the second night. Best steak hands down had in years. Staff is excellent and the promote friendly environment. Atmosphere is what I would expect from a 4 star restaurant. Will be coming back again.

Great Steak! We did not have reservations so my wife and I showed up early and sat in the bar. I had the Filet(9oz) and she had the Ribeye(18oz). Both steaks were fantastic and cooked perfectly. This place is very popular so I recommend a reservation. I have eaten steak in the best steakhouses in the country and this is now one of them. You can’t go wrong if you order the steak!

I came here with my 80+ grandparents and our experience was just okay. We were seated close to the bar and I must say that have a very active happy hour. That’s great for the restaurant and those patrons, but not so great for my elderly grandparents… it was SO noisy! I have been to their location in Lakeville and must say that this Little Canada location is a very different atmosphere and feel. I was expecting the same nice décor and ambiance but what we walked into was a dimly lit old school supper club(but with the fancy prices of the Lakeville location still attached). The food also wasn’t quite as good as I remember which is always a little disappointing. They get an A+ on the Caesar salad(they have anchovies which I love!) Great dressing, and good portion size. I had the Ribeye and my husband had the filet and crab cakes combo. My Ribeye was overcooked(I like MR and I got a MW, not cool). My steak was also pretty grisly and I had to cut quite a bit off. My husband’s filet was cooked nicely and the crab cakes were quite good. My potato was undercooked as well. I’d maybe give their other location a try again but I don’t know that I would come back to this spot.

The scallops were grainy, and the micro-salad included was heavy handed on the blue cheese which over powered the delicate scallops. The Cobb salad was ok. Standard fare, though the blackened steak tips were aggressively seasoned. The balance between the steak tips and the salad was way off. The 9oz filet with caramelized onions & béarnaise sauce was divine. The steak was immaculately cooked, nearly fork tender, and the accompaniments have a nice pop. The garlic mashed were yummy, but a bit dry. We might come back, but if we do we’ll stick to steaks.

Porterhouse is a no-frills, old-school steakhouse that knows its strengths and sticks to them: high quality steak and seafood cooked expertly, generous classic cocktails, and attentive service. There’s not a lot to this place, but there doesn’t need to be. It has a classy, cozy atmosphere that makes you feel at home. And that’s exactly how you’ll feel when you order one(or three) of the top-notch martinis or other cocktails and peruse the menu. I had the Ribeye and found it juicy and delicious, cooked just right. But really, you could get anything on the menu and know it’s going to be at least good(and probably amazing). I’ll surely be back to try the other steak offerings including the NY Strip, Filet, and(of course) Porterhouse. The staff here are professional, courteous, and take pride in their work. After so many mixed service experiences elsewhere, it was quite refreshing to be treated to high quality service again. It was close to 5 stars and could easily be upgraded once I’m back to try other things on the menu.

I have my short list of favorite/best steak houses in the Twin Cities and I’m happy to add Porterhouse to that list. I wasn’t even aware of this establishment until I did a little research and found this hidden gem. I made reservations and took my family for a celebratory birthday dinner. When you enter, you feel like it’s a different time/world. It’s darker, a little more classy and has a hit of the 1940s. We started with crab cakes, which were packed with chunks of crab and walleye strips, cajun style with a tasty tarter sauce. I opted for the Black and Bleu Ribeye(18 oz). Cooked with a cajun seasoning and blackened on cast-iron, topped with bleu cheese. Nothing about this steak sucked, cooked to a medium-rare, the bleu cheese adds a wonderful flare to each bite; tender, juice and cooked perfectly. This is a wonderful place for great steak, great value and amazing service :-)

From the outside the restaurant looks tiny. Its a nice size place with great food and ambiance. The first time we dined here we all ordered the King Crab– so good. Expensive, but good. They cut them for us which is nice. Nobody wants to sit and try and crack those big suckers open. I like that the meal comes with all the sides. Choice of salad, vegetable, potato. Everything is not a la carte which is appreciated given the price. My parents recently dined here for their anniversary and said the prawns tasted like mini lobsters and the porterhouse was excellent. Great food and service. Nice place to celebrate a special occasion.

ALMOSTPERFECT… I’ve been here 3 or 4 times, always in the bar area. This time I was with my girlfriend from high school, and we are both retired from being in FOH service, mostly fine dining. We are both so very impressed with the food and the ambience here. This time we only had wine(another pinot grigio I haven’t had before), and appetizers. I can tell you without a doubt that they make the best spinach artichoke dip ever. The last crabcake I had was last winter in Park City Utah at Robert Redford’s restaurant ZOOM, and it couldn’t hold a candle to these they prepare here!!! NOKIDDING! These crabcakes were pure crab, and the correct thickness, and done to a T. Need to go back again and again to try more food. YUMMYSTUFF I seldom order a ribeye out at a restaurant as I can grill it exactly how I like it at home. I can clearly see that this is one of those restaurants that has high standards on it’s food preparation and execution. Doesn’t matter what you order, it will be beyond your expectations. And. the plate has the PORTERHOUSE logo stamped on it, just like in a big hotel in NYC. Makes you feel special. In a good way. However, our server needs a little more refining in her service techniques. She missed a request for more h2o and rather rushed us at check dropping time. She actually dropped the check as my friend was still chewing !!! AT least she didn’t try to take the plate away. It was only a Monday night and not near closing time. Hmmmmm… Of course, it is an occupational hazard to critique other servers. :-) BOTTOMLINE: Impeccable Food Good Prices Non Pretentious
