This was my very first visit and it was awful. The server came around twice out of the 45 minutes we were there. And the food was awful everything tasted like it was soaked in vinegar. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I thought the food was pretty good. You’re not going to get better southern home cooked food around here in Douglasville Lithia Springs area. Everything was very well seasoned and all around flavorful. I will definitely visit this place often. THEPRICEISDEFINITELYWORTHIT. Less than 10 bucks for a good meal.

This restaurant is in the same building Shoney’s had been in. Shoney’s had hardly been gone more than a month, when this place opened. I walk in, and am told you pay before eating, no big deal. That’s not unheard of. Golden Corral operates this way. But Golden Corral serves food. I don’t know what this place serves. And how do I know what kind of tip I want to leave? Easy enough, just put a zero in the tip line. Make sure you have cash on hand. But before I can go to the table, to utter contempt disguised as food, I have to pay Kelly, who would rather be doing something else. Something that doesn’t involve other human beings. But the food! The food! Oy! Everything just tasted off, as if it were a recreation by an alien race, trying to fool you that you were still on Earth. It didn’t work. Flavors were strange, and many things were just too salty. I’ll probably have to lie in a tub of warm water, while drinking numerous glasses of water to see if I can restore the salt to water ratio in my body. The corn bread stuffing was flavored in such a way, that I thought maybe it was an Indian attempt at a marriage of curry and stuffing. And I’ve NEVER had catfish like that. Just avoid the catfish, assuming you’re crazy enough to visit this place after reading this. My daughter took one bite of the spaghetti and declared it was«Too spicy». What that means, coming from her, is that it is over flavored, and probably too much black pepper. You’d think even an alien race could get spaghetti right. After trying, in addition to the catfish, rutabaga, cabbage(they got that one right! I should have just eaten a big plate of cabbage, problem solved), stuffing, potato salad(only mildly disappointing), pinto beans, and a few other things that escape me(how I wish they would) I thought I could cleanse my pallet with banana pudding. What was I thinking? The banana pudding tasted like vanilla pudding, that was giving thought to maybe trying to be banana pudding. ANDITHADBANANASINIT! How is this even possible? Maybe they should offer cherry pie that tastes like peach cobbler. That’ll keep people on their toes. And before I forget, there’s the cream corn. I didn’t touch it. It was far too weird looking. It looked like pieces of corn suspended in aspic. You know, the gelatinous substance you see in wet cat food. In all of the years of home style, and soul food places, I’ve never seen a creation like this. I suspect it was alive, and waiting to eat my head, as the corn wasn’t sufficient. Anyway, the experience was one to be forgotten, and I hope I can. Stay away from this place. Just do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. Anywhere. Maybe home. Don’t even eat in restaurants that are near this place, it could have spread. And to the people who own and operate this place, I hope they figure out that they have some issues before they have to close their doors. I don’t wish them ill, I’d like for them to be successful, but after the initial interest wears off, and people have satisfied their curiosity, I don’t expect things to go well if they insist on maintaining the current recipes they are using. It might help them to eat the food at this place. Just once should get their attention. Once they sort that out, they need to get some internet presence. They don’t have a webpage of any sort that I could find. And they don’t come up in any of the various searches I tried.

Breakfast buffet, why not give it a try. Okay, all the bacon was extra crispy, and don’t mention the sausage patties, the biscuits are a little hard, the first batch of hash browns were good however the second batch was over cooked. I will not come back.

The food is fresh and good. I read the reviews so I was somewhat prepared for the worst. But the food is great. This is southern food at its best. The veggies are meatless! There is fish, fried chicken, meatloaf, crawfish, baked chicken and bar b que chicken. The sides are great. Everything is fresh and tasty. The salad bar is simple and fresh. The hot foods are all cooked with quality. The head cook even came out to check on guests and the food. The item I liked most was peach cobbler-and the fried chicken is grandma good. I least liked the veggie rice. It did not taste good. This place is great. Good sweet tea and good service. They need to put some mats on the slick floors. I will be back!!!

I came in Wednesday at 7:30am and they had a large selection of food ready. Everything was delicious. I was running late so I eat fast and even though I wasn’t here long I kept seeing then bring out fresh food. My waitress Kelly was amazing. I almost didn’t come in because of the low rating this place has but I’m glad I gave it a chance.

It was pretty bad… There was not much to choose from. I’m not a big fan of ox tails so the meatballs were about the only edible meat on the menu. The vegetables were very overcooked. The spoons for dishing out these vegetables did not even have holes in them. I love southern cooking and I love buffets, but this place I will never go back to. Charge four dollars more per person and put a little more effort into it.

Stick to what you know… but I figured that’s no fun so Why stop there, let’s try that new place that took over Shoneys. I felt very adventurous yesterday and since I received a coupon in the mail for a free drink with a $ 8.95 buffet, I figured why not? So, I will start with the positive. Very attentive waitress. She asked if we needed butter or ketchup and after returning with ketchup packets I went up to the line. Awwww, bless it. As you can see in my photos not much was made fresh. That poor spaghetti should have been put out of its misery last week. And that frozen then cooked chicken with the BBQ looking sauce… I can’t… The salad bar has your typical lettuce and pasta. 3 bean salad that came out of the can and I didn’t understand the coleslaw. The consistency was just not that of a coleslaw dish, But I digress. There’s plenty of dressings but no eggs. And everything was running low. I go get a piece of bread and it’s hard. On to the next plate. The sweet potatoes and macNcheese were on point, and even the fried chicken was OK. But the greens, rice, cabbage and everything else I tried either came from a can or was just not good. I do wish this place would get better food. It’s in a great location and has potential. Best part of dinner was the peach cobbler. Keep that. That’s good

Not that impressed with the food quality or selection. Everything covered in butter and deep fried. grilled chicken was horribly over cooked. Salad bar had no light dressing options. Price isn’t bad but quality shows in price.

I decided to try this restaurant as it used to be a Shoneys not too long ago. When I first walked in I detected an unidentifiable«odor» found in bad restaurants. What I found was a buffet that does not have that much to choose from. The food was very bland and absolutely nothing I found was healthy. They charge approximately $ 8 for their dinner buffet and I found that to be overpriced for what they offer. I’ve gone to Golden Corral and for a couple of dollars more they offer far better food choices if you’re interested in a buffet. Golden Corral offers 2 – 3 times more choices and much better desserts to choose from. The desserts at Southern Buffet and Grill were very limited. The flyer I received from Southern Buffet in Lithia Springs showed pictures of prime rib, pork ribs, fish, and great looking pasta. unfortunately, they do not serve what is pictured on their flyer. Isn’t this false advertising? I certainly do not plan on returning to this restaurant. Take my advice, if you want a better choice in a buffet go to Golden Corral.
