Was a great place, but they sent me a letter… had to close the shop.

I now consign again with Thriftique. They have changed their plan for taking items in. Everything is looked at the time you bring it and they take what they want. Clothing is taken for the season. If anything doesn’t sell they donate it to needy people. You get your percentage and their church gets the rest. I think they offer a food pantry. Afew years ago it was getting messy and I had a lot of stuff not recorded as a sale. I was not happy. They are back on track now. Keep up the good work!

Thriftique is an amazing secret as some of the other reviewers have mentioned. When they first opened they were pretty ransacked with crap– as any place would be that offered a 40% consignment percentage… Lately though, they are working hard to maintain a «high-end» resale experience– and I think they are incredibley successful at it. Another reviewer referred to it as «shabby chic,» which I think is a pretty perfect description. They also have a much larger housewares section which I find to be much more interesting and worth my time than the clothing. They make sure to only take in full sets and unbroken items which obviously makes things more appealing. Since things are rotated often enough it is always a joy to waste time here if you have an extra half hour or hour to kill.

Thriftique is a nice resale/consignment shop located in downtown Lisle. They have a pretty good selection but a majority of it is clothes. Prices are about average for a consignment store. It is sort of tucked away in the Weldon hardware store strip mall but downtown Lisle isn’t that big so you will find it.

Hummm. I thought I had already written about this one summer day, after a visit but I guess not. I went back for a second trip today and scored a fantastic deal on a set of vintage dishes. There was even an older lady, who recognized them from when they were first made, telling me they were a steal. From what I can tell, comparatively to other similar places, the prices are good. They have a variety of things from clothes to household items. There is ample parking and friendly staff. I’ll be back!

I almost hate to give the secret away on this new shop, but I also loved it so much I just have to share! I visited Thriftique this weekend to look around for some stuff for my new apartment. They had posted a couple great items on Craigslist, and I decided to trek out to Lisle(from Rogers Park, no less!) to see if it was as good as it seemed. I was not disappointed. The prices were ridiculously cheap for household items. Sure, there were your standard dusty shelf nick-nacks that get passed over, but there were also some amazing cabinet pieces, mirrors, lamps and other items. In all, I hauled a pair of lamps(gorgeous and unused but with CFL light bulbs included!), a marble-top mahogany side table, a Degas-style ballerina sculpture, and a cherry wood wall-mount shelf for hanging keys for a total of $ 60. I wished I had a moving truck with me for some of the other things there like a gorgeous navy blue stained and gold-trimmed hutch for $ 150. The whole store felt like a collection of shabby chic scores from Craigslist all gathered in one place. I didn’t spend much time in the clothing section. It wasn’t as bulked up as the furniture section, nor did I think the deals were as big of steals as the household stuff. There was some really cool jewelry and some great shoes for reasonable prices. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly, working alongside his staff to help out customers and fix up the inventory. As for the other staffers, most of them are all young high schoolers from around town. While I was there at the end of the day on Saturday, one scrappy and sweet 14-year-old kid on staff looked like it had been the longest day of his short life. Just a heads up that if you are going to check Thriftique out, it’s nestled in a strip mall and(as of June 14) has no sign marking it. Main Street is under construction, but the shop is there!
