If you want legal advice, go listen to your grandfather ramble about himself for a few hours instead of Richard Lowell. It will save you a few hundred dollars and be much more effective.
I discussed my legal issue with Mr. Lowell for half an hour on the phone. He became very familiar with my case then recommended I come in for an appointment. He charged $ 325 for me to listen to him talk for an «hour», which turned out to be a least two hours. Seventy percent of it was talking about himself, his family, his other cases that didn’t directly relate to mine. He also stopped our conversation to answer four phone calls because they «might be important». Though that certainly made it seem that me and my time were not important even while he was charging me.
He concluded that my case was very «win-​able» and he could take it. However he didn’t want it because he was taking his grand-​daughter to Disney for a week then would be out of the country on vacation for two weeks. He knew this before he recommended I come. He suckered me into paying him $ 325 for his (Disney trip) opinion. That opinion was to call a different attorney on a Tuesday because people are in better moods on Tuesdays. And to highlight the main topics of my case — the main topics I already brought him.
His office looked like he was moving in or out though he was doing neither. Messy and full of boxes and gangly plants on every surface. He was alone there. A TV was on in the background the whole time.
When we sat down, he set the file I brought down on his desk (on his glasses) then walked around the room looking for his glasses. I told him where his glasses were. That alone is a good analogy of my experience with him. He was very unorganized, both literally and in his rambling thoughts. He shuffled my papers several times and kept losing them. I had to pick them up at the end or he would have taken them, lost on his desk.
I asked several times for him to at least let me know what he’d charge if I used him. He said ok but after a month he never did. I would at least respect a professional who followed through when he says he will do something.
