Guilford Lake Grille

Probably the slowest service ever for the most mediocre at best food.
The service took 2 hours for our party of 10. No one else was even in the restaurant.

This was my first visit to the Guilford Lake Grill. I arrived around 12:30 pm on a Wednesday. I never saw another food customer during the hour I spent here.
I ordered a deep fried fish and 3 shrimp dinner for lunch, Cost was around $ 13.95 plus diet drink and tip totaled a little over $ 18.00. From a guy who was born in Gloucester, MA, I have eaten my share of seafood over my 76 years. After finishing my lunch, I would rank the quality at the low end of average. It was cooked properly, presented in OK manner but the fish was «mushy,» the breading coat very heavy and lacked a good fishy taste in my book. I would not be as critical at $ 7.95 but for almost double that amount, I would have expected a fish dinner a notch better than what was served.
Now, regarding my server, I would give him 5 Stars. Yes, I was the only customer but he could not have been more helpful. He took time to tell me the history of his restaurant and after my meal, gave me a quick tour of the very impressive capacity (in the hundreds) as expansion has allowed. When bands come in for a weekend, he mentioned that could seat nearly 850 guests in a recently expanded area to the rear of the restaurant. Also, there is a large dining-​room that can handle 100+ folks and the rear area can certainly handle a large banquet in the hundreds. I would guess parking becomes an issue when a band weekend occurs.
So, overall, after only one visit, I would be «gun-​shy» of any fish items on the menu. However, there may well be other selections that offset the choice I made for lunch.
I ate in the bar area which was well lit, very clean and a nice view out the window. I can highly recommend the bar setting for a good place to have a drink based on the quality of the building construction.
I will return again sometime and will happily change my assessment if the meal deserves it.

Only giving a three because they host fundraisers for a local animal shelter.

I recommend going across the lake to the landing. Much more relaxed less snobby atmosphere!

The sirloin tip appetizer is one of the greatest things I have ever tasted. The prime rib not so much. Staff was great, and the lake was beautiful.

Great for drinking amd havng a good time. Food sucks… bad. We ordered a simple chicken salad and the meatloaf. The salad was lacking bigtime and how hard is it to make meatloaf. The meatloaf was boxed loaf and not even a good kind!
