THE Best Italian Sub. I am a Bears fan. For me to go to a place called Packers means the food must be very very good! Great staff … great food.

Over my last 17 years in the Army, one of the things I love about coming back to PA to visit is the food. For the last five years I’ve lived in Maryland and come back to PA once or twice a month, especially over the summer. One of my regular visits is Packer’s. I loved it when it was Lio’s, sad when I found out it was sold, and then happy again when I found out they essentially kept the same menu and recipes. There is no beating this pizza in the area. Packer’s is hands-down the best pizza around the Harrisburg area. Better places to go for subs, but the pizza and bolis are absolutely fantastic. Even my wife and kids, who unfortunately grew up on chain pizza, inevitably ask for Packer’s when we’re back in town.

As a over the road driver I find places I like and give them quite a bit of business. Called this place at 4pm to place a decent order and the girl says we are closing at 7pm so we aren’t delivering anymore today. 3 Hours ok cmon! But that’s really ok because Giovanni’s right down the street did and it was quite tasty, said they had no problem bringing me a 35.00 order up here every 2 weeks when I come thru. I’m sure you won’t miss my pennies much but if you keep doing business that way those pennies will soon be dollars your losing!!!

Family owned and operated restaurant formerly known as Lio’s pizza. The Packer family have continued the excellent menu and improved this Linglestown community hotspot. Our family has grown up here and enjoy on a weekly basis.

I love this place! Their food is SO yummy I’d travel the 30 minutes for their pizza… Best around! The service is excellent and not many pizza shops can boast such a clean appearance! Their sub’s are amazing and the bread sticks… WOW I HIGHLY recommend for locals or anyone strolling through town. I haven’t had anything on their menu that was less than sensational… And my family(of 7) has eaten there on several different occasions. Plus, I love family owned businesses

Best pizza and sub’s in the area. Here you get your monies worth. Never disappointed. I understand the Packers décor, but some Philadelphia Eagles additions would be nice.

Good hoagies. Baked Italian is fantastic. Serivice needs help. I have only ordered take out and the woman who rings me out is always very rushed and rude. Also I typically wait ten minutes in line just to pick up my order. Need a better system for check out.

In fairness, they deserve the one star due to the horrible changes they made and by not replying to my private request for an explanation of changes; the food is about a 3 at best. When it was Lio’s, the food was consistent and awesome. We have given Packer’s about 5 visits, sadly, they have NOT kept the same quality and tastes of the most popular items. I understand making the place your own, but NOT by disenfranchising your base! As some of the knowledgeable and recent reviews state, IT’S NOTGOOD! You can hide a lot of imperfections in a pizza. The truth is best found when taking home leftovers and eating it cold. One of my favorite things was a Lio’s slice the morning after. In the restaurant, the pizza was ‘okay’. The next morning I tried the piece I had saved… sorry, it was NASTY. Mostly something about the cheese is not the same, just very rubbery and odd tasting. Packer’s, I can put up with the Packer’s Football theme, it’s cute if not quite weird. But there is no excuse for sorry food, especially when you purchased a diamond. It makes my entire family VERY sad… may never return… I just read their bio at the bottom of their Unilocal page. It may have been their intention to not change things when they purchased the business and wrote their Unilocal bio, but unfortunately, I must stand by my review. Update: 12÷27÷14 Asked my wife to bring a sandwich home, didn’t say from where. Since she was driving through Linglestown, she went to Packers. Our old standby is the baked Italian, the Lio’s version of course. Well, I wasn’t surprised that by now, I expect to be disappointed. The flavors were pretty much all there, but there was less than half the meat as the original. So, one star it stays. I’m so sad. Update 1÷15÷15: I see Ms. Packer wants to speak with me via Unilocal.I’m sorry if my review is unpleasant to you, but after all, it is only the opinion of one family. Yet as you can see from my multiple reviews, I give high praise when it is warranted and earned. Since you seem unable to graciously accept criticism, I cannot risk a more direct line of communication in this all too litigious world of ours. Since we will be leaving the area, there is no longer any desire to hope for improvement. We wish you well. PS, I did try to connect with you the only way provided via your web site, evidently no one is monitoring the incoming mail.

Just moved to the area and tried for the first time. Pizza is delicious and the people are friendly. Lots of cheese on these pies! Also had a salad that used the chopped iceberg lettuce which I am not a huge fan of. Would make it 5 stars if the salads got a little upgrade

Fantastic Service and Great Food I ate here for the first time this evening with my wife, I have to say it had to have been one of the best pizza shop style pizzas I’ve had in a very long time. They’re not skimpy on the toppings and it’s not drowning in grease. We also had garlic knots, which were great. Most places I order them, I end up with raw dough balls(knots) or they’re drowning in garlic butter. I will definitely return and I suggest you stop by and order some food.

I was addicted to Lios sub rolls for 20 years. They never changed them the whole time and that’s a great thing. When I saw it changed to Packers I prayed -«please don’t change the sub rolls, please don’t change the sub rolls, please…» They changed the sub rolls! No! The new ones are pretty good, they still use the pizza dough and bake them fresh. But they are missing something. just don’t taste quite the same. Why? Why? Still the best pizza place in Linglestown.

Great pizza and subs, I like that they take debit & credit. Unlike Leo’s did. My favorite sub is the Baked Italian with sweet peppers, my son likes the chicken sub.

The owners of Lio’s Pizza, a fixture in Linglestown for almost 30 years, decided to retire and sold the business to two long-term employees. The name was changed to Packer’s Pizza in early November 2013. The Packers have all of Lio’s recipes and are keeping everything pretty much the same, although they plan to make modest additions to the menu eventually. One thing that has changed with new ownership is the ability to pay by credit card. Lio’s didn’t take credit cards, but Packer’s does. We ordered our usual pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. I can say that it has not changed a bit from the way Lio’s made it, which means it’s still very good. The toppings are generous and the pies run large. A medium pie at Packer’s is as big as a large pie at many other pizza parlors. Subs are also notable for the quality of the bread, which is made fresh on the premises. Assuming that the Packers continue to maintain the quality that Lio’s was known for, they should have no trouble succeeding.
