I came here as a result of winning a gift certificate from a charity auction and I must say I love it!!! It is very clean and sanitary! They offer a variety of classes and have great hours. It is two levels and has tons of equipment! Overall excellent gym!!! It’s closed now and new owners taking over :(

Affordable neighborhood gym that offers a little bit of everything and then some. The price I pay per month(I joined about 2 years ago and picked the longest«contract») easily beats anything I’ve seen in the surrounding 10 mile radius. You can pay 10 $ to try it out and if choose to join, that 10 $ will be deducted from whatever you would owe afterwards. Opens very early too, which is nice for people who commute to the city(My old gym opened at 5:45 which was pushing it kind of close.). Lastly, it’s never overwhelmingly busy. That being said, I would like to make a few suggestions and/or noteworthy points: 1. They need two power racks. The squat rack in the basement isn’t sufficient because the safety bars are too high, preventing you from going the correct depth. You could walk outside the rack, but that’s unsafe if you go heavy. It’s frustrating when people do rows and curls(or worse, really weird stuff) in the power rack upstairs — movements you don’t need a squat rack for. 2. Some of the equipment isn’t in the best shape, but maybe that’s due to the legacy of the facility being an old Powerhouse gym, where old equipment was reused. The deadlifting platform(which displays that logo) is somewhat sunk in. There are huge cracks in some of the mirrors where the only solution was to put in duct tape. Sometimes the rectangular plates in the cable area stick to each other(so you could set it to 100 lbs, only to have it be 110 lbs for the 2 – 3 reps– until that extra plate drops off). This doesn’t bother me too much as I only stick to a few lifts, but for others it may be a bigger annoyance. 3. The music is often egregiously too loud. I have my ear buds on full blast yet I can still hear the lame pop, electro music being played. Bad gym music is par for the course, but I wish it wasn’t so loud here. Honestly this is probably the worst feature of this gym. Overall, very solid place to go. If they would maybe add another power rack, adjust the music, and tidy up a few areas, it would probably be the best gym to go to on the island. But even if they did none of those things, you still get a nice deal here.

Friendly staff, lots of different equipment and not particularly crowded. Everything you’d like to find here and then some.

ok so I live in LA, however this past summer I lived in Lindenhurst as I was taking care of my father who had had a stroke and heart surgery. That took up the majority of my time, but when i could, I’d hop over to the gym to work out. Body Shop is awesome because you can buy weekly passes instead of locking yourself into a membership, which was ideal for someone in my situation. It would be cool if they’d offered monthly passes, but I’m not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, paying $ 20 a week to go here was still cheaper than altering my bullshit LA Fitness membership. Anyway, this is a great gym if you want to lift heavy things. There are also a bunch of classes ranging from Zumba to Spin to Yoga. The gym is clean and well lit, though sometimes the sunlight blasting in through the windows could be a bit much when on the cardio equipment. They have a lot of weight machines too and win points for never having any broken equipment. They also offer childcare, tanning(not included in membership), and a really crazy water massage bed. The front desk staff was super nice. I really dug the Friday night Zumba class.
