This diner is now known as «Park 27 Diner» and under new management. Upon arriving walking through the door there was some kind of rotting smell. Aside from that once being seated we received the old Coloseeum diner menu’s which were ripped, old, and smelled like mold. The menus need to be updated. The workers didn’t look happy it was an unpleasant atmosphere. They need better servers. Also the parking lot was terrible bumper to bumper and if someone was to open the door of their car the next car would be dented and scratched. It was an unpleasant visit all in one.

Good, reliable and inexpensive. The food doesn’t disappoint for what it is: basic diner fare. I have to admit that I’ve never been here except for breakfast, but it’s always been good. The waitstaff is friendly, the service is quick, the food is well prepared. If you’re looking for a good breakfast, I really cannot recommend any place higher than this one in this area.

Good diner. Always have been able to trust this place for a good meal. I usually get the fried shrimp dinner, but I’ve tasted quite a few different things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Its also under new ownership from a trustworthy guy who used to be a great cook. Thumbs up.

I don’t go to diners for seafood, steaks, meatloaf, triple decker sandwiches or mile high pies. For me, there is only one meal to be had-Lox and onion omelette, well done home fries and rye toast with a good cup of coffee. I’ve had this very same meal at dozens of diners throughout New Jersey. From the horrifically bad to mighty fine. Got off to rough start. A dull, unpleasant fellow met us at the door. Said nothing and led us to a table while checking his cell phone. That one was new to me. Dropped our menus and walked away without a word. Nice. Here at the Coliseum, formerly the Betty Lind, our breakfast of choice was perfectly acceptable. Good omelette, ok potatoes, decent rye toast. The coffee was the sole standout of the meal. Really good. Beautiful view of Warinanco Park while we dined. But the view won’t bring us back. We’ll try the Linden House next time.

I get the bacon cheeseburger with disco fries all the time and it’s delicious. The chicken and beef gyro are good. Service is great especially the dude with the spikey hair. Pancakes and the Belgian waffle are great.

I was very disappointed with my meal this evening. I ordered the special. .steak smothered with onions, peppers and mozzarella cheese, loaded baked potato and vegetables. The steak was chopped meat, the potato was cold with old bacon stuffed on top, and the soup was cold. I normally order breakfast and had some decent meals. I stepped outside the box to try something new and left still hungry. The waitress was very understanding and was trying her best to accommodate. The manager on the other hand never came to the table and sent the waitress back to offer to take the meal off the bill. But instead he charged me for the salad bar which was included in the meal price of $ 13.95. That was a joke. I had lettuce and cucumbers but paid $ 8.95. I didn’t make a fuss the whole time and was going to pay the full price. The lack of customer service on behalf of the manager was just unacceptable. It’s one thing for the food to suck but at least try to improve customer satisfaction for the next time. Don’t insult me by charging $ 9 for a salad to make up for that sorry meal.

This place is just wonderful! From the time we enter we are greeted by a friendly Hostess especially Billy! He is one of a kind and makes the best cappuccino I ever had, it’s perfection. I don’t only have one every time I go but two due to the amazing skills and effort he puts into making the perfect cappuccino. Not only Billy is great the staff and waitresses are so efficient and friendly, food is delicious! Every time I come with my husband and kids it’s an enjoyable time and Billy makes me feel special when he immediately starts making my cappuccino before I even get to place my order, now that’s superb service! Thank you Billy your amazing cappuccinos! They are delicious every single time.

The short version: Decent diner food for average price with sub par service. The food is pretty decent. The long version: The service: You can just the tell most of the waiters just want your quick tip and to leave. Most of them are very impersonal and you can’t tell they hate being there. I went in with a good friend of mine dressed casual and behaved very polite and respectful. Still got treated pretty lousy. The waiter dropped of the check literally 60 seconds after I got my meal(it came out fast) I had not even put down the ketchup bottle yet. The gentleman at the host stand was pretty rude. I asked to split the bill evenly on two cards. He let out a sigh and threw his calculator down. I’m guessing it’s a great inconvenience to type the number off a receipt and divide by two. The Food: The food is pretty good, that I can’t complain about. It usually comes out hot and fast. I’ve had the omelettes, pancakes, tuna melt, burgers. They are all decent. The only reason I come to this diner is because it is walking distance from where I live. If I feel like driving I will go anywhere else.

Today was my birthday. Me and my friends desided to go to this place to get some food. I got the Coliseum Burger, which is two beef patties. I order it medium rare. When it came out it was dry and didn’t have much seasoning on it. The dryness killed me so I asked for a new one. Second one was as bad if not worse. The waitress didn’t even ask how it was, I had to talk to someone else. I told the person it’s really bad she goes damn. and walks away… I ate the French fries and was done. They were going to charge me full price for the Burger which I didn’t eat… She then says I got you and then charges me for the French fries. Like you messed up twice. Could have been nice and threw the fries in while I waited the extra 20 mins. My friend had also told them it was my birthday. They didn’t say happy birthday or anything. Just wow.

Prices are not the same :(i used to live here 3 yrs ago and you use to be able to buy a $ 3.99 including eggs and hash with toast… Now everything is an add-on. The homemade hash is tasteless and it looks mashed. The only reason they got 2stars is because of the friendly service. The waitress is a very nice lady who kept checking on our table. With so many diners around they need to step it up on their fois taste.

This is your typical NJ diner. The thing I found insanely odd was that the wait staff did not remove any plates from the table when they are complete. Even customers that left, the plates with half eaten food remained on the tables. Maybe the dishwasher called in sick??? The food was hi hum, but that is almost typical of diners. The waitress did not know what was on the menu. If you order the Colosseum burger you will get at least 5 follow up questions because ‘that is not in our computer system’. Um, hello… Then remove it from your menu. It’s an item named after your business. Amazing.

This diner is just across the street from Warinanco Park and that’s very convenient since we were at a geocaching mega event in the park that day. Parking was tight in the diner’s lot at lunch time. The parking lot behind was nearly full even though not all the tables inside were taken, which means that available parking may not be quite sufficient. I thought service was okay. The menu had a broad selection of food. I had the beef empanadas, which I thought was a little different from the usual diner fare. I’d say it’s pretty much a typical NJ diner.

We made it here around 1pm on a Saturday and it was packed, so I had high hopes. I went with my standard tuna melt, my favorite diner food and it was good. It was a very large portion-came open faced, so I really could only finish half. I asked for a side salad instead of fries, but the waiter told me that he wasn’t sure if they could do that-so I said if they had to charge extra, it was cool-that’s what I wanted… I should’ve gone with the fries though. The salad was iceberg, which is not my first choice, but it’s like they picked out all the white ends of lettuce from the bottom of ten bags which usually people throw away, and put them in my salad. He asked me what type of dressing, and I asked him what types they had, to which he replied, «Everything!» I asked for balsamic vinegarette and he came out with a separated cup of red wine vinegar and oil. My boyfriend went with breakfast and seemed satisfied, I think I should’ve just gone with that… or again just gotten the fries with my tuna melt. Next time, I think we’ll try some place else.

I’m the«duke» of this place, having checked in here six times in the past few weeks. Here’s what I think: Portions are a pretty good size so be aware. They have decent food; I would say it’s nothing crazy-remarkable for a diner. The veggie burger, what I usually get, is decent. Be aware: I’ve had four different waitresses, all of whom seem to think being flirty is an acceptable substitute trait over getting orders right when it comes to waiting tables. I’m not a big fan of being called«sweetie» etc by strangers but it’s that kind of diner. Not a big deal, but if you don’t want fries, you can’t just order a sandwich versus the deluxe version(that comes with fries), for example, because you will get them. If you want a side of mayo, you will need to ask twice, or no lemon in your drink, you will need to remove it, etc. These are minor things but I’m including then in the interest of being thorough. The menu is pretty big and some of the items have cute a Roman names. One notable thing it’s the music, I think it’s excellent. None of that ‘80s soft rock. If you like Regina Spektor, Norah Jones, Sarah McLachlan, «Before These Crowded Streets”-era Dave Mathews Band, etc, you’ll be pleased. Another thing: It doesn’t say it, but they are open all night on Friday and Saturday, although the salad bar closes at 10 every night, and they get rid of their soups at 11 during weeknights. They have a big TV above the salad bar if that’s your thing but you won’t be able to hear it. Also: the juices are from concentrate and out of a machine, and taste like it. The other thing worth mentioning is their dessert menu: You have to ask for it but it’s pretty epic, and again, big portions. The parking lot ingress and egress is a little confusing and it’s hard to leave if there’s heavy traffic but you’ll figure it out. Overall I recommend the place and plan to keep coming back. Just remember, be specific about what you want when you order, and you may have to ask for things like your check twice. Try the dessert.

I can’t believe I’ve been living around the corner from this place for 2 years and just ate here for the first time this week– I feel like I’ve been deprived! Some out of state guests were visiting with me and I wanted to give them the ultimate«Jersey Diner» experience and I’m sure glad my boyfriend suggested we go to Colosseum. This place is great! Friendly staff, huge menu, quick service and good food. My sister and I split a chicken salad sandwich on rye, my bf had the buffalo chicken wrap and my sister’s bf had the reuben. We all enjoyed our food and there was so much of it. We were on our way to catch a movie and I asked for a to go cup for my coffee. Not only did my waiter, Tony, give me a to go cup, he insisted on topping off my coffee for me– whattaguy! I can’t wait to go back for breakfast and other late night munchies: D

I’ve been coming to Colosseum Diner since I moved to New Jersey over five years ago. Over that time I’ve gone to other diners in the area and some have gotten worse while others have maintained their quality(or improved it). Colosseum Diner is one of those that has improved over time. When I first moved into the area, Colosseum was beginning to show its age. The sign outside was worn down a bit, the interior was clean and well kept, but some of the furniture was wearing down and the walls had seen better days. Then, a little over a year ago they underwent a complete renovation and they did a fantastic job. The interior is modern looking yet classic, they opened up a lot more space but at the same time they maintained the integrity of the place’s design. The front area has most of the booths, most able to seat 4 – 6 people with some smaller ones along the side that fit 2. The back area has booths along the edges and tables in the center that can seat larger parties. I like the back area the best thanks to the woodwork in that area. I generally have breakfast here, and they always do a great job. Their hash browns always have a nice crispy top. The eggs are always done perfectly and their toast always comes warm and crisp. That sounds pretty ordinary right? You’d be surprised how many places can’t even get that right. I’ve also had salads and burgers here. The salads are very basic and don’t make a big impression but the burgers are juicy and nicely sized. Service is always efficient and friendly here. I’ve never had a waiter or waitress here who wasn’t super attentive and kept my water and coffee filled. In this neck of the woods Colosseum is definitely one of my «go to» joints and if you’re the area it’s not a bad place to grab a quick bite to eat.
